He's much better than oj mayo who's on the same deal. Not great value but fair value imo.

Old Man Timmy has 52500 minutes played. He didn't spend his time laying on the couch, he played 4-5 seasons in Europe starting at 18 and it's not a fair comparison anyway. People are different and the best ones to judge are his coaching team. His "famous" .gif is funny, but JaVale anyone? Considering other Big-Man, the deal is quite fair imho.

He's much better than oj mayo who's on the same deal. Not great value but fair value imo. He's a great defender on certain types, but unfortunately the Atlantic division is full of the types of guards that he's weak against. He shoots well from 3, but he doesn't take enough of them and only 25% of his shots are 3, whereas 42% are midrange jumpers. He can still grow into something, but it's always been easier to improve on defense than offense. It'd be in line with the Meeks deal (he's definitely worth more as a great defender) if it weren't an extra year, and he was better about staying behind the arc.

But look at Kyle Lowry. Dude has had way worse attitude issues in the past- arguing with coaches, showing up out of shape, etc., and no one is saying that the Raps just overpaid him. He did have a good year last season but that was a contract year, what if he starts phoning it in, or stops getting along with Casey, etc.? Those types of issues is way worse than childishly taunting your opponent, people just blew it way out of proportion because it was the playoffs and he was doing it against Lebron. I'd take blowing in someone's ear over showing up fat and arguing with your organization any day. By all other reports Lance tries hard, cares about winning, and was basically the Pacer's offense for the back half of the season. And he's popped up in rumors for other teams, but I think he's in the tier of players where teams are waiting to see where the miami big 3+Melo end up, then the teams that don't get them go to your Gasol/Stephensons as their 2nd choice. I think he's gonna get paid by a Dallas/NYK/LAL/CHI for sure, they're just leaving their cap space open for now. I think the Avery deal is fine. He's not quite worth that much money on current talent alone but he's young and should continue to improve. Plus with Boston in a rebuilding state it's ok to spend a little more on potential.

Who knows though, if he becomes a liability/always hurt, he's a useful salary offset piece, just like Ben Gordon is with his new deal.

(more of a risk), and harder to get rid of. not saying that's 100% the whole reason why he's not getting his money, but i think that is part of it. i still think IND would have offered him much higher and got him to sign if not for concerns like that.

But they're in the east so they have a good chance of making the conference semis. Hawes to Clips 4yr/23mil not bad. They needed a decent backup big and that's a pretty good price for him.

At least they didn't give him a fifth, though would've been lunacy. Who knows though, if he becomes a liability/always hurt, he's a useful salary offset piece, just like Ben Gordon is with his new deal. Pistons fans have been using this with the Meeks deal, and i think it's poor rationalizing.
