Gortat contract is standard for a solid starting C but the length is ridiculous. Was another team really going to offer anything similar? It's fully guaranteed too. They outbid themselves imo...
And Wtf are the magic doing? They were the only team that could offer 5 years by rule. I think they might have been able to strong arm him into something like 5/$54M or something, but I think the 5th year was a must.
I have no idea what the Magic are doing. Win 30 games and develop?
If Gasol goes to the Spurs I'm going to do a dance that would be embarrassing if done in public.

Lowry allegedly signed for 4/48 with raps. Good deal for both if so.

Good deal for the heat, pacers, and bulls.

Gasol might be a useful regular season asset, but the guy can't defend for shit anymore.

meh. at this point cavs are better off joining the sixers in the tanking game rather than giving questionable max deals.
edit: ok seems like the miami gang is breaking up? havent followed this all too closely

Cavs are at a point where it would be a sign of abject failure to continue to tank. 2 #1s in a row Kyrie/Waiters and a decent supporting cast.
Miami's big 3 haven't decided anything yet.

So I took a look at the Free Agent list trying to think of who the Heat can get. Here seem to be their options in good 'mid level' players and role players(no other considerations considered):
Humphries, Hinrich, Deng, C.J. Miles, Stuckey, Lance, Carmelo, Ariza, Harrington.
I'm not sure what they can really do without a trade. Granted they did just get to the Finals without getting anything from anyone who won't be there (read: Battier, Haslem), but the bad luck all the other teams have had can't last forever.

I think the Wiz are going to overpay Ariza to get him to stay. Lance reportedly wants more money, as does Deng. Miles just got signed to the Pacers.

Lance turns down a 5 year 44 million dollar contract. Yeesh.

Silliness aside, Pacers were definitely lowballing him. He broke down in the playoffs, but there was a stretch where he was arguably their most important player. George was sad about being catfished and the offense ran through Stephenson.
The issue is that with all these teams jumping on expensive deals early, the money he wants might not be available later on. Hell, just give Lance the max and make him play 3 for the Cavs. On defense, the result will be about the same as Hayward.
EDIT: Clearly a starting 5 mustache team is the best option for the Pistons to improve attendance.

Yes, but he's also crazy.

Ginobili with stress fracture in fibula. Says he'll see how it heals in the next 20 days to decide on his participation to the WC.
If he's forced out, I'd be feeling sad for him, but it could turn out to be an actual good news for the Spurs.
Any SAS fan is basically used to this injury festival anyway, so I'm not really worried but I'll hope he doesn't destroy himself further should he decide to take part to WC.

I think players that do actually want to get paid and don't really care about which team they end up on or want more money in general are doing the right thing by waiting. There are a ton of teams with money to spend that want to win now, and there are only so many free agents to go around. Waiting a couple days might get you a couple million more per year.

Lance is worth more than 5/44.
I think 10-11 mill is good value for him.

cept when you're lance, if he hadnt done all that shit last year, i think for sure he would have signed by now. but i havent heard anyone else trying to sign the guy even tho hes a UFA, meanwhile hayward is gonna get a max from someone and perhaps cost 2 1st rounders.
and i dont really think hayward is a much better player than lance (16m v 8m?), its just he comes with WAY less baggage and is a team player. so no i dont think his craziness is overblown at all.

All the other guards that have signed for big money has only helped Lance now too. 5/44 was more than most would have expected a few months ago I think. At this point though, his talent is too good to be overshadowed by his antics. He isn't just a starter in this league, he is actually better than average, and he is still young.
I am still hoping he will come to the Lakers on a short 2-year deal =). Then we overpay for Bledsoe for 2 years and pair them in the backcourt. My somewhat-realistic dream lol..
I thought Lakers had a chance to lure Lance at like 2/18 or 2/20, but not so sure after hearing this.

The Gortat deal might not actually be bad. Wearing down is a combination of age and minutes played. He's only at 11500 total (regular season and playoffs). Old Man Timmy has 52500 minutes played.

Good move by Pacers. They were only Miles away from beating the Heat this year.
