At least they didn't give him a fifth, though would've been lunacy.
Who knows though, if he becomes a liability/always hurt, he's a useful salary offset piece, just like Ben Gordon is with his new deal. Pistons fans have been using this with the Meeks deal, and i think it's poor rationalizing. Well, Meeks has been around a bit longer and looked like a career journeyman until the past year and a half or so. He's also three years older, and played multiple years in college, so we think we know what he is at this point. With Bradley, he was a one and done and should still be getting better. I guess the money's similar, but Meeks has that key no fourth year. I kind of liked his deal as well: a potentially useful player at what should be a lower relative cost in the future that could become a nice offsetting contract in a trade.

You want a big man out there for the Clips. Hawes is also a very nice passer from the high post. You could see some cool high-low stuff with Blake.
Byron Mullens made the vets minimum, which is basically what he's worth. What he wasn't worth was the roster spot he took.

I guess that one game where Lin made a bunch of 3s made philly really want his 15mil salary

All of these tweets and reports about the Big Three leaving today, I don't know what to believe anymore. I've been a staunch proponent of "they're not going anywhere" but I'm beginning to doubt that position. Anyone else?

He's willing to take Lin if Houston includes enough goodies, and it's not like Lin is going to stop Tankapalooza 2015 either.

Keeps them over the salary floor with a guy who's making more than he's probably worth.
|
Stay over salary floor, pay homage to your sensei, put butts in seats for what will probably be a shitty team, and get a pick out of it.
|
Well its fine for them, but being above the salary floor is irrelevant. If you are below it you literally just take the $10million or whatever and split it up among your players Pro Rata. If you value cap space over competitiveness there is no reason to worry about it.

Pierre Jackson's achilles blew up in the first summer league game. :/ Apparently the refs let play continue for 3 possessions before calling time, with him on the floor.

At this point about both the big 3 and Melo every position from all definitely staying to all leaving have been made so it's just a wait and see. If both Bosh and LBJ want max money though I could see them splitting up. I think Wade'll stay though.

This is true but since it makes no difference financially why not approach teams looking to clear cap space like Houston and offering to take shitty contracts for picks? If you're spending the money somehow anyway it's better to get some asset, even if it's just a 2nd round pick, than to get nothing. So if they trade and get Lin for a pick then it's worth it for them.

I totally agree. This is actually what Houston did a few years ago: took some shitty contracts for 1st round picks that they eventually turned into Harden.

I think we had a similar argument last year when you added Redick and Dudley

I don't think so, but I liked the trade at the time. I still like the trade, Reddick is better for the team than Bledsoe, even if Bledsoe is the better player. It's not like we could afford to extend him anyways.
Had no idea Jared Dudley would go from penciled in starter to completely unplayable. That was shocking.
Anyways, this was a very good signing. Frankly, I don't think most people really watching Byron Mullens play basketball, not that I'd blame them. They have some kind of a concept of a tall white shooter. But he was really really bad. Spencer Hawes is way better. Except for being tall and white, and the purported ability to shoot, they're not comparable.
It's like comparing Travis Outlaw to Jeff Green. One wouldn't get minutes on a team that makes the playoffs, one might contribute because of of them is actually an NBA player at this point.

Shit, sniped.
AWWWWWWWWWWW YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Now just get Pau and #DriveForSix #B2B

I'm not sure I really want Pau. What lineups would he be in? Is he playing with Splitter for the 18 minutes Timmy is on the bench? I think I'd rather have Splitter or Diaw with Timmy than Pau.

Jordan Farmar to the Clippers.... the pain of betrayal stings. Why Farmar? Why?! We would've paid you!

Bosh to Houston would make them the #1 contender next year
