ex-M5, SK, and ex-CLG.eu have all qualified for EU LCS already. Stop asking where they are.

You did not make one argument which supports your statement. You just said that in your opinion it is wasted but never showed why.

your "argument" was not so much a statement of fact so much as opinion. what you are saying about bigger teams getting into s3 being better for expanding esports is most likely true but that we should care more about that than the better teams winning is an opinion that I don't see how you would think would be popular on a forum dedicated to LoL specifically and not esports as a whole.

Popular and established teams have been at the top of league for a long time. At least Western league. The only thing that's done is allow the Asian teams to dominate them aside from a few teams that stuck together and worked hard like M5. The best thing for league right now is for the people that actually deserve it to qualify and that's what is happening. These teams will become more popular overtime anyway and will actually compete with the rest of the world.

The team that plays the best in this qualifier and wins the games that matters, deserve the spot in S3, nothing more to discuss there.
For the bigger organisations, the cut throat attitude ( like curse has) of either your roster qualifies or you drop them and sponsor one of the top8 teams, is one of the best approaches probably. Although in europe it might be harder just because most of the qualified teams are decent organisations while in Murica only the top 4 are established teams while the other 4 are looking for sponsors.

How big is the difference in infrastructure between aAa and Millenium in France? Obviously it would be great for the French market if both teams made it so there can be lots of rivalry hype but is there something special with how Mill built up their organization that makes it much more marketable in France than just aAa or Mill making it to S3?

Obviously, at some point the panorama of teams will stabilize itself. It's a difficult time because people will most likely see teams they like or follow since a long time just disappearing, but that's out it is. Giant deserved this, as all other team.

This is exactly why the LCS is amazing for eSports. It doesn't matter if you're EG, CLG, TSM, etc. if you don't perform another team WILL take your spot.
There are no more free tickets to eSports success just because of your team's name or popularity.

It's hard to know exactly because the numbers are not public but I think the millenium website has a lot more traffic and millenium is much richer overall. Millenium opened their gaming house a year ago, and I don't think they plan on closing it anytime soon. The SC2 millenium roster has had good results since sc2 release. Lol is the game bringing the most traffic on millenium website, but they've had only poor results with their lol line ups so far (which I think is because of hasty decisions and poor managment).

So you cheer for the Millenium squad in lol because it will positively affect their SC2 team is understandable, but saying everybody should do so, because Western Wolves doesn't have a SC2 squad is questionable. Maybe Western Wolves will expand if they became an established lol team and pick up a SC2 squad. Who knows?

And its not the first time this happened, take dreamhack winter. 2 teams qualified from the BYOC (SSS and Wolves) and made it to the semis

Wooooo, just woke up and saw that Wolves made it through. Pretty happy for them, been a fan since the Thor Open (which we gave them Team to Ward Watch btw *gloat*). And once Bjergsen is back I expect them to look even stronger. Sill, I hope [M] make it in as the 5th slot, MYM has been looking pretty good recently but I don't have any attachment to them.

i thought he was too young? Does he turn 17 soon? And if so, can he join mid-season?

Both aAa and Millenium have an aura on the french market. What makes Millenium above aAa is that it's a brand owned by a consulting company (much like EG) whereas aAa is still an association with no lucrative ambition. Millenium's traffic is vastly superior in term of raw numbers (as is its WebTV) but aAa does have a strong dedicated fanbase centered around esports while Millenium has shifted towards a more general gaming content.

he turns 17 in feb i think which makes it even more ridiculous that he can't compete at the qualifiers although he'll be able to play in the season itself anyway. Pretty nice that they made it anyway

I assume the cut-off would be at the time of contract signing (i hope to god there are contracts for this) and that is most likely after the qualifier and not just before the first broadcasted match.

Supposedly he's said he'll be playing so it doesn't really make sense why he isn't in the qualifier if he'll be playing in the season. This obviously could be false and you could only be playing next season if they make it.

This obviously could be false and you could only be playing next season if they make it. Yeah, his birthday is in Feb, but I don't even think it would matter if he didn't turn 17 until after the rest of the team signed their contracts. Riot has made it clear that teams will be able to pick up free agents/make trades just like you would in a traditional sport. In theory once anyone turns 17 a team can sign them, it just so happens he turns 17 before the season starts. He just happend to not yet be 17 so he couldn't compete in the qualifiers. This tournament doesn't lock a roster in place the same way that the Online LCS Qualifiers did. Here's the quote from the Riot LCS AMA
Teams will be required to have two subs, and will be able to rotate players like you'd expect from any traditional sport (trades, free agent signings, etc.)

how does the transferrence of LCS spots work.
For example clg lost its Eu spot and it went to EG....why? Is it player bound? If so, how many players do you need for it to transfer over?

Bound to the core team (the team must have three registered players, and if those three aren't around then the team is not considered the same team). It's to prevent the whose fiasco when ex-CLG.eu signed with CLG but their seed to IEM Kiev stayed with the old organisation AL.
