Seeing the ghoulish likes of Perdue and the soulless automaton of Loeffler lose does my heart good even if I don't find Ossoff to be particularly thrilling.
A lot to expect out of a Democrat controlled House, Senate, and Presidency though, I better see some great stuff!
Im personally hoping for stimulus checks and PR and DC statehood! Problem with this is that Senator Manchin is now the most powerful person in the Senate. No way he approves to most of these things.

Wonder whether Trump will spend any time suing to overturn these results as well. Given his historically naked self-interest I'd be shocked if he does anything more than tweet about it.

I have a list of people I consider major impediments to anything decent passing the Senate, Joe Manchin is definitely chief among them, however I'm trying to maintain some facade of positivity.

I think if dems can keep it within 2% they got this. If it starts to get to 3 though I don't think they can pull that back. Same story as the presidential race that though. Almost all the republican vote should be in with a huge amount of dem vote still out therr

Damn. I was a huge skeptic that Democrats could win either race.
I'm impressed.

If trends hold and it ends up Warnock + 1.8 / Ossof + 1.1 (big if there), this will also be some pretty dead-on polling numbers. Especially interesting given the number of high-grade pollsters that sat this out.

As much as I don't like Manchin he still going to vote for Biden cabinet and his judges. And there is some stuff he will vote for on Biden agenda. At least it will get to the floor unlike with mcturtle

If you put a gun to my head yesterday and forced me to pick a result, I'd have split Warnock-Perdue or both seats going to the Republicans. A bit astonished to see Georgian Democrats and never-Trumper types persist in their enthusiasm despite the national microscope on two very critical races and the prospect of voting out Trump gone. Possibly an augur that the Sun Belt pivot strategy for the Democrats is showing fruit and isn't a wild dream.
A Senate where Manchin or another moderate senator like Sinema hold the kingmaker seat is still far more preferable for the Democrats than another two or four years of McConnell as the most powerful man in D.C. At least when push comes to shove, Manchin stood by the Democrats like on the ACA skinny repeal or for Trump's impeachment. Biden's and Democrats' most ambitious agenda is effectively stifled, but I'd consider it a major victory to have the upper hand on reconciliation, cabinet picks, judges or convincing Collins, Murkowski and Romney on anything narrow.

Getting to the floor is the important part, frankly half of what I'm excited about is that I won't have to hear any excuses for why things don't pass.
Democrats got the house, they've got the senate, they've got the presidency, anything that doesn't pass is the fault of the Democrats and the Democrats alone. Which means its time to see what they really stand for at this crucial moment in time.

I'm still clenched until Ossoff is declared a winner. Man I fucking hate Mitch McConnell more than any other person on Earth other than Trump. If this really happens, wow.

How many recounts will the GOP be demanding in GA do you think?

The only thing giving me hope is I think the % reporting is underestimating Atlanta turn out

Fairly critical to the two races was Breyer's SCOTUS seat too I believe. He's by far the oldest on the bench and has signalled a desire to step down I've read. A 50-50 Senate makes a liberal justice a much more realistic prospect. It won't alter the 6-3 dynamic, but selecting a young justice gives their side some longevity.

Do you remember the 2017-2019 Congress? GOP had bigger margins in both houses and got almost nothing done. Biden will get his (and worse) appointments through, but there will be no big progressive legislation and Dems will be comfortably stomped in 2022. At least based on history.
meanwhile there are probably still morons who think Stacey Abrams lost in 2018 because of voter suppression lol.
GOP does have problems though. Trump did really well with low-propensity voters, and better with minority voters. The GOP wants those, but also must, must keep the middle-class voters they still have (and to be fair, it is a great many). We'll see what they learned from picking up all those house seats in Nov. They also did well in the state legislatures. The party isn't dead right now by any means, but...
Honestly right now both parties look really weak, it's funny in a way. Biden is still the weakest incoming Democrat is decades, but the GOP's war with its own voters (which gave us Trump in the first place) has costs.
In any case, on to (DeSantis) 2024! He also might be on the few who can pull it off.

Why do people think Ossoff is going to win? He is down 110 and the votes don't seem to be there.

The easy reason is because Perdue is running behind or equal to Trump in basically every county with fully reported results, and the total vote numbers in D-leaning counties are higher than they were for Biden. His existing edge is an artifact of where has reported.

Hmm yeah, I'm seeing some data that is pointing to trouble for Ossoff right now. CNN is reporting DeKalb County has 130k votes left instead of the initial 170k, which puts Ossoff or Perdue in narrow victory territory favouring Perdue. But there's a lot of conflicting info right now with one Atlanta reporter saying 200k left. The Voting System Implementation Manager for GA is saying 171k left as of five minutes ago.
