Playing as France, year is 1631, how am I doing? I was on track to easily get Big Blue Blob but I ended up getting all my mainland holdings full occupied by Switzerland and going 2000 ducats in debt, oops.

When game loads, remove fort, lower maintenance to 0. Put the king as general and hope he dies. Put the light ships on trade node Aleppo. Start fabricating claim on byzantium. Take mission to improve relations with Papal states and do that. (Improving with poland or venice doesn't yield an alliance this early.) If there is an inquisitor take that and start converting the religion of the province. If not, set admin focus and raise stability until it is possible. Then I ally venice and poland. Sometime before that is done I usually take 2-3 Byzantium provinces in the war the Ottomans have against them. Sometimes the Venice alliance is done before the Otto declare and I declare using that instead. There it is possible to get all 4 Byzantium/Athens provinces. Sometimes with the Otto war as well, rare there though. Which is when I get stuck. The ottomans keep building galleys, had games where they have 40! of them. So we can't win the naval war even if I go a lot over force limit which is a bit below 20 for ships. At this point I die whenever I end up in a war with the Ottomans. Even if they are in 2 other wars and I use Venice + Poland I lose. If they declare on me I lose. Is there some other combination of allies that might allow me to actually win against them or just hope for a run where the Ottomans just lose against some other nation? Taking the lone Genoa province next to me at the start before Venice is an ally? (As well as the two up near crimea so it is possible to expand away from the ottos for now.) They tend to have Austria, Papal states (or other Italy nation) and Hungary as allies. Just trust naval dominance and block them from reaching my provinces I guess. Taking Cyprus seems possible with Venice as ally and naval dominance from that. After that I only have wars without claims being possible to expand from. Any other ideas? Tried allying Aragon since they and Napels have a big navy but can't have them and Venice at the same time, Castille/France also kills them after a while. | ||

Forming Jerusalem after taking a strip from Greece to middle of Italy was a horrible decision. 75% autonomy everywhere due to distant overseas, from +20 Ducats a month into -20 in one decision. :/ Interesting they weren't distant overseas as long as I stayed as the Knights with capital in Rhodos.  I guess I should have moved it to a trade node before that.Gave up that game there. Could win against the BBB with my allies, so no real challenges left once I get the autonomy down again. (Was the last war we had before I formed Jerusalem.) One Vassal in Papal states so I can get more papal points for free stability. ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/mhFVl0L.jpg) Went for lolworthy ideas (Religion -> Maritime -> Quality) didn't touch trade, only one vassal entire run and it worked out decently. A better start if you don't want Kingdom of Jerusalem is probably to start missionary and directly switch to Orthodox, most early provinces you get are that, so instant correct religion until you have a decent size and can afford converting. | ||

I owed all of europe including poland and lithuania half of africa all the ottomans by 1605 then i decided to trucebreake persia 2 times in a row to straight up annex and release them. It was the worst decision ever. 200 OE is too much to handle even for only a few month.. i had so much luck this run with PUs and then i am too greedy ... i hate myself now | ||

In my Ottoman 1 tag attempt it cost me loads of manpower and time and in the end was a reason why I barely didn't get the 1tag. | ||
