Does anyone know how the AE modifiers for heathens work? Do I get extra AE for taking Sunni provinces from a Catholic nation if I am Ibadi? I need to punch a lot of land out of a giant Commonwealth (stupid humanist ideas AI that doesn't convert), probably 5-6 wars and I need to know if I have to start now to avoid a giant European coalition.

e: Apparently the province religion isn't a factor, just the country's religion is. This is probably going to be awful.

You have to wait for the game to finish loading the save before you click on play. Once you've lost ironman to this it cannot be restored.

i definitly did this.
it happened mid play.
I formed HRE, did my tedious micro managment if organizing my troops, forts, colonies and such, then clicked save game (out of habit) when i was done with that.
The standard save game window pops up and asks me to name my savestate. closed that window again to let the game autosave on 1st of the month, which it did, so i thought i´m fine.
turns it the autosave was a yearly one and now i am left with a ironman-less autosavestate...

Whats the best way to play Korea?
I've been trying to take Japan while slowly compromising the Ming but I haven't found a way to beat the Ming yet.
Is it possible to take on the Manchu from the beginning?

It was a while since, but I played an ironman game as Korea on (I think) the Art of War patch. I remember that I played very defensively vs. Japan and instead focused on the Asian mainland.

I think my strategy in that game was to ally Ming early on (and eventually Buryatia) and use that as a tool to win wars vs the Machurian nations and Korchin. Then I proceeded to taking advantage of Ming imploding to get their lands. After that point I remember that I had some back-and-forth wars with Oirat while being in general on the defensive side, mostly since Russia had arrived and Russias opinion of me switch back-and-forth quite a bit

Since I also did a game as Japan (where I was able to get a hand on Korea and a bit of (present day) China) I'd say it depends. If I had to say something, it is easier to focus on the Asian mainland but this depends on things like your current situation, what allies you and your enemies currently have and so on

After a daimyo-independence war Japan will most likely be rather weak because those wars will cost lots of manpower from my experience. But on the other hand you will need a rather strong navy if you're going to initiate a war on Japan.

My friend told me it was possible to create a big enough distraction on the Shikoku Island then pull out and trap a large force on the island. The thing's they're talking about has my fable hype/spore hype radar blaring pretty loudly.
