Weekly Cup Competitions
Week of December 22 - 28
by Wax
The holiday season saw two top competitors in Clem and herO take some time off from the weekly competitions, giving Classic and MaxPax an easier path to winning the two Monday competitions. The week also produced one of the most surprising cup winners in recent memory, with Percival upsetting Classic to win the Sparkling Tuna December monthly.

December 22: WardiTV Mondays #66
![[image loading]](/staff/Waxangel/misc/weeklies/wardimon066.png)
After bouncing back from a short slump by winning the previous week's WardiTV 2025 Championship, Classic continued his roll by taking the WardiTV Monday weekly as well. An impressive run saw Classic take down GuMiho, Cure, and ByuN on his road to the finals, where he triumphed with a 3-2 win over surprise finalist Elazer.
The Polish Zerg was a worthy co-star of the cup, reaching the finals with a 2-0 upset win over MaxPax in the semifinals. A dizzying 3-prong attack with drops gave him the victory in game one, while a European taxi all-in sealed the deal against the secretive Dane.
Unfortunately for Elazer, he couldn't pierce Classic's defenses in the finals as he suffered a narrow 2-3 loss. Impressively, Elazer did manage to outplay Classic in a battle between high tech armies (typically a death sentence for Zergs), committing to several backdoor attacks that left the Protoss economy in shambles (VOD).

December 22: Monday Night Weeklies #35

The second Monday cup was a partial mirror image of WardiTV Mondays, with an established Protoss powerhouse triumphing over a surprise finals opponent. Indeed, MaxPax took home the cup title for the week, but had to fight off a strong challenge from Trigger along the way (VOD). While MaxPax initially suffered a 1-2 upset at the hands of Trigger in the upper bracket, he fought back from the lower bracket to earn a 3-2, 2-0 victory in the two-leg grand finals.

Wardi made sure to keep StarCraft 2 fans entertained over the Christmas holidays, delivering a series of showmatches on Christmas Eve while sending out a pre-recorded tournament on Christmas Day. herO came out on top in the stacked Christmas Day event, defeating Cure, MaxPax, and Solar in succession (VOD).

December 28: Sparkling Tuna Cup - December Monthly
![[image loading]](/staff/Waxangel/misc/weeklies/sparklingtunadec2025.png)
The week wrapped with one of the biggest cup surprises in recent memory, as Percival defeated the rest of the field to take the Sparking Tuna Cup's December finals.
For Percival, it was just one of those days where nearly everything went his way. ByuN initially took a 2-1 lead over Percival in the semifinals by playing normal-ish games, but threw it all away in games four and five after gambling on proxy-Reapers. Percival then proceeded to finish the cup with a 3-1 win over Classic in the finals, with his Marine-drop + Hellion combo roasting tons of Probes in game one, Classic's proxy-Gate all-in totally falling apart in game two, and his proxy-Marauder timing going unscouted in the deciding game four (VOD).
