After your team wins a championship, they immediately get a five-year grace period: You can't complain about anything that happens with your team (trades, draft picks, salary-cap cuts, coaching moves) for five years. There are no exceptions I'm sorry but I disagree. Teams with "true fans" languish in mediocrity/badness. The Cubs have plenty of "true fans", the Steelers have "good fans." Fans should be informed, know the game, and save criticism for when it is deserved. You obviously haven't been soul crushed by defeat enough. As a Dallas sports fan, the thought of winning a championship supersedes any other positive emotions I could imagine. I don't think I could complain for years after it. Be careful not to fall into the spoiled/entitled mindset. Also your harsh and irrational criticism isn't going to change anything. Level headed discussion is obviously encouraged, but the "PAU IS BAD" and "TRADE EVERYONE" arguments are all too common.
Its pretty hard for you to make the irrational Pau hate argument when I am a Chicago fan.
And don't worry the Bears have crushed my soul plenty of times. I criticized their Cutler trade when it happened, and I criticized the Bulls back when they made that weird draft for Eddy Curry + Tyson Chandler. I've been wrong before too, I thought that the Hawks would be much better than they were this season, but I had reasons to think that.
Like I said, I was criticizing the non-Kobe Lakers before game 4 and got torched. I'm not defending all the reactionaries, but there are many legitimate critics sounding off as well.

The Lakers got outplayed, out coached, and pretty much out everything. Dallas is a damn good team. Thats the dirty little secret in all of this. And the way Dallas played this series, they would have beat any team in the league. So settle down Laker fans. Your team is still damn good. Things got out of hand today, but Dallas is playing some unbelievably good basketball right now.

I agree. To be honest, this is the first basketball game I've watched all the way through the entire season. I know, I know, you're probably saying, "Where the hell have you been?" I'm not the biggest fan of basketball, but I just settled down and starting watching and before I knew it the game was over. The game, though, was just ...wow. Dallas, certainly, is a great team, and if this performance is any way the same as they have been playing, I just don't see what the Lakers could do. The number of three point shots going for Dallas was amazing.

still disgustingly amazed at how fucked up bynum was
down 30 in jackson's last game and does a "i dont give a fuck" flagrant
|
Bynum would have been torn apart by the Dallas bench had it not been for officials.
|
Damn, if Bulls has an off game on defense, we'll be screwed hard.. 37%/27% shooting vs. 45% / 50% for the Hawks.. and we're only one point down
|
there is no such thing as an off day for defense, only awesome day for offense like 2 mofos jacking up 3s for dallas like there is no tomorrow, kobe can have 50points this game and they would have still lost.
|
Hawks looking good at home. Joe Johnson with the most efficient 22 points you'll ever see, Josh Smith being a terror...for both teams, and Wake Forest's own Jeff Teague with some nice moves to the basket. Much better game than the former.

Was surprised with the stuff Kobe was talking about after G3 that he didn't make as much, if any, impact at all in G4.
Derrick Rose is still clutch though.

Didn't watch the game, and am pretty glad I didn't. Disgraceful performance by the Lakers, particularly the cheapshots taken by Odom and Bynum. I can understand being frustrated and angry about being beaten so badly and being swept, but there's no excuse for those types of plays.
The criticism of Pau's play in the playoffs is warranted and deserved, but the cries for him to be traded or denunciation of him as a terrible player are ridiculous. While he certainly did not show up in the playoffs and disappointed when he was needed the most, he is still one of the best PF or Cs in the league and there's no way the Lakers should trade him away just for what happened in these playoffs. As so many others have already pointed out, the Lakers would never have won the last two championships without him, and they certainly would not have gotten anywhere close to as far as they did this season without him. Yes, he played terribly in this series, but that does not make him anything close to a terrible player, and it's stupid to overreact and forget all that he brings to the table. If you need any confirmation, try to come up with a list of PFs or Cs that you'd rather have on your team (I assure you it will be VERY short) and then think of how many teams wouldn't immediately trade for him if he became available (also VERY short).
As for Kobe, it's clear that he was not the same player in this postseason as he has been in the past few seasons. Obviously, his age and mileage has something to do with it, but I also suspect that his lingering injuries which he has tried to fight through for the past few seasons was a major part of it as well. His fingers have been a complete mess for a while now, and his knee has been troublesome all season-long. It's noticeably affected his shot and his ball-handling, and his ability to get around the court, defend, and attack the basket have been impacted. Let's also not forget that he has barely practiced all season-long due to all of those lingering injuries, which had to affect both is and his teammates' play in games. I hope he finally realizes that he's not superhuman and that he needs to deal with those injuries ASAP if he wants to continue to be an elite player and contend for a championship again before he retires. I also hope that he sees this as yet another reminder that the whole going Black Mamba thing is not the way to win, and that it should only be used in short bursts when his team really needs it.
Shame to see Phil end his last season this way. It'll be interesting to see who takes over (I know Shaw is assumed to be the guy, but who knows for certain) and how it's going to change things for the team. Whoever takes over, I hope they reboot their defense and refocus on getting players to put more effort in it because there's definitely something wrong with it. I know that it has looked good, and even great, at times this season, but I haven't been happy with their overhelping defense or the way certain players have played defense individually all year long. Fans will still expect the Lakers to be championship contenders next season, and their defense will need to be top-notch to get there.
Also, anyone think that the Lakers seemed too distracted this season? Pau was on a TV show, Lamar got his own TV show, Artest became a media sensation and spent a lot of time with his various charities and zany outside activities (i.e. rap songs with George Lopez, etc.), etc. I don't think the Lakers ever really locked in and showed the hunger to win that champions need, and their toughness/mentality/etc was in doubt to me all along. Hopefully the embarrassment of this postseason will wake them up and get them to refocus on playing championship basketball next season.

Great arm chair analysis. Next up, the sky is blue, water is wet, grass is green

Red Sox lose for 86 years, they could miss the playoffs the year after 2004 and they'd still feel content.
New Orleans, they probably don't mind their exit.
Giants, similar, they're "happy to be there" as champions. Championships in sports are often a lucky run where everything just clicks together, and it's got to be more miraculous than a baby being born.
Lakers fans feel entitled, like they're supposed to win every year. Like being mad because if Shaq stayed, they'd have won all the championships of the 2000s. You don't hear that sort of nonsense from tortured fanbases.

wow that accidental whistle sucks. totally destroyed the game for the bulls.
|
LOL, weird call
This is gonna be a long series, the Bulls are shooting reeeeally bad.. but I'm hoping that won't happen for the last couple of games.. Normally both Deng & Korver shoots way better, and that'll take away alot of the bad shots Rose have taken tonight..

I just have to say the playoffs are 1000000000000x better than the regular season and 10000000000000000000x better than march madness. Don't even know why anyone watch regular season games at all.

bulls fans would be so angry
