I've got two eyes and he isn't playing well. Like you said, he's been solid but not spectacular. Obviously it has something to do with the system Spoelstra is using, but when I watch the Heat, Bosh's impact is minimal. His post game has all but disappeared and maybe we're watching different games, but his defense to me is sub-par.

Some people tend to compare the Big 3 to Celtics Big 3.
Celtics got 3 different players for each position, Miami got 2 of the same ball hogging players, and a guy (Bosh) who has no clear role on the team at this very moment.
Its similar to what Real Madrid were doing when they bought every star football player under the roof, they bought big names who were known for attacking, while they ignored their defense and their roleplayers. Its the same thing, Miami win when Bron or Wade have a monster game, and that is easy to have against lesser .500 point teams.
But beating great teams has proven to be almost impossible for them, because you cant just give it to Bron or Wade and hope something happens, they are too good. I don't think this Heat team is anything close to the "galactic" Madrid squad. Madrid was loaded at every spot. The Heat have a very thin team. The Real Madrid stars were playing poorly individually, the Heat's big three are all doing well. The effort the stars on the Heat are giving is huge - I mentioned before the minutes they play. Madrid was the classic "whole is weaker than the parts" syndrome. I feel the Heat just don't have the parts right now.

The Heat will be fine. Will they win? Probably not, but they're gonna go deep and they'll play some pretty epic games come Playoffs time imo.

These expectations may have been sown prior to the season when Miami held it's victory parade and James casually mentioned he would win a double handful of rings. When ESPN makes a new site for a team, it isn't because they are building for the future.

Now I know what James meant when he said the heat won't win one, two, three, four.... Rings...

But that's all that's realistically expected of him. Why would you play the post with Lebron and Wade on your team?
His defense is wishy-washy, not great not horrific either. I will say that his play on either ends is extremely streaky though, would be interesting to see his performance relative to the other two's and how they affect his play.

Spurs currently shooting 100% in the first quarter. ;o

Wow I just saw that by the Spurs. 80% FG in the first half is impressive, even against the lowly Pistons.
And yes awesome Clippers victory (although I didn't have a chance to watch the game)...I am really liking Mo Williams on the team. And if anything it was even bigger because they did it w/o Eric Gordon (who I hope doesn't try to come back until fully healthy).

On the issue of coming back before one is fully healthy, is that what did Brandon Roy in? Or was he just destined to have bad knees after the injury?

I think that there is not a big enough deal made about Roy coming back early for the Suns' series last year. I mean, we've heard about his knees since he was at UDub, but I think he rushed back from that surgery after 8(?) days? He hasn't been the same since. Now you could say that it was the surgery itself or maybe he just was destined to be knee..less but I still think that the Blazer's did him wrong by playing him.
|
Yeah I think he tried to come back too soon, but I mean I guess there is no way to definitely know. If he was an older player when he tried to do it, I think it would be more understandable, but he was still so young and had so many years to play. It was too risky imo, and management should have been more adamant. Not only that but I remember reading that he had been playing with pain for a while as well, before actually having surgery.

Real quick on the Clippers, I want you guys to think about this: Mo Williams, EJ, ?????, Blake Griffin, Chris Kaman with a bench of DeAndre Jordan, Ryan Gomes, Randy Foye, Al-Farouq Aminu and Eric Bledsoe? And people say that Lebron should have joined the Bulls? This team is a small forward (and a new owner) short of a deep deep playoffs run. GAHH! It's so hard to be a fan.

Mo Williams shooting the ball well this season?! Guess the team change really helped. Does Blake provide that many open shots?
|
Nothing special, actually. But he is at least a league-average point guard and Eric Bledsoe has some definite upside. The point guard situation isn't that bad for the Clips.

Yes, yes he does.

Entering the playoffs with Vinny del Negro at the helm only leads to having 0 timeouts in the last minute of a game, and shitty defense.

The other two are more important than the coach. Vinnie is in the bottom third of coaches, definitely, but the Clippers had 7 years of Michael Dunleavy. The two are equally terrible except Vinnie is younger. That being said, I see a lot of bad chemistry between Blake and Del Negro; in the victory over the Bobcats, Blake totally cold shouldered him.
I still think the Clips can win in spite of Del Negro and I won't give up hope that Vinnie will get better with experience.

To spread the floor better!
If they're going to use him in such a capacity, why bother signing him on for so much? I could understand if he was a beast at the defensive end who really controlled the paint, but he isn't that type of player. He's pretty much a spot-up 18 foot shooter on that team and nothing else. His rebounding and defense are average at best. What does Bosh really offer the current Heat team? For the money they're paying him, the Heat could have easily bought 2 or 3 decent players to do a similar job IMO.
Bosh obviously has ability, but I think the Heat need to reevaluate the role he plays in the team, because they aren't getting best value from him.

Those players don't fit well with Lebron, particularly except Griffin. The fact is that unless Lebron changes his game he is both the best player in the league, and the hardest to build a good team around. This is the of-overlooked secret behind the Cav's collapse: The team was designed perfectly around Lebron's talents.
The perfect team for Lebron would look something like: PG: Steph Curry SG: Ray Allen PF: Kevin Love C: Joakim Noah. Now obviously a team that good is impossible to make, but the theme is: Great outside shooters + energy guys on the interior.
