How does that make you a good company? as a shareholder, blizzard making money is all i care about.
profit does not necessarily mean good games are being made, but the likelihood of a company selling bad games and continually making a profit for decades is illogical. objectively, the market loves blizzard's games (or at least more than the competitors). subjectively (you), the games may not be great, but blizzard has to market to the market, not you.

Did I read that right? I have to pay for the D1 graphics? I like the nostalgic feel--but man fuck that.

And it is not worth it. It does not give you nostalgic feels, it gives you pure hate.

The problem is our memory. Play any old game and it sucks now.
What I don't like about the Kripp video is that he basically says "oh well, it's basically x floors of monsters you beat up and then the boss, that's all there is". Welcome to Diablo, man. Because that's all there ever has been. This isn't some skill game, this is monster bashing, optimalizing progress against the dungeon computer. And I have the idea that as we grow up, we start seeing it that way, and it takes out the fun it used to be.

And I have the idea that as we grow up, we start seeing it that way, and it takes out the fun it used to be. I disagree. The issue he had was that it was the same levels and monsters (99%) as diablo 3 currently. He didn't care it was a dungeon with monsters. He thought they'd have more throwback to D1 considering it was listed as "diablo 1 inside of d3". It's barely d1 at all, very few monsters have a new skin, world environment is d3 and play is basically d3. That was his problem. Playing the d1 was essential the exact same as doing a current rift with restricted movement and pixelated graphics. It was not a 'diablo 1 experience' at all.

It's less to do with "that's what it is" and more to do with "that's all it is...", I think. I had no real interest one way or the other but it is a pretty small amount of content and I can see why people are surprised. The only thing D1 about it is the filter pretty much

finally got around to beating the D1 event on PTR. did it on T13 with my demon hunter. it was not nostalgic at all, and completely underwhelming. maybe i just dont remember D1, i dont know. however, it was basically just a long rift to me (like 16 levels or so) with ugly graphics. im not even sure i saw the butcher in my run (with multishot, you dont see much anyways), but i do recall lazarus and diablo.
anyways, if i had to pay for it, i would be upset. however, i didnt pay for it, so kudos to them for giving me free content even if it wasnt amazing.
oh, not sure if its intentional, but the event does seem to give a shit ton of experience. not sure if thats just PTR or what, but i seemed to be leveling up four times instead of once while in the event.

Never played a monk, how is Uliana ?
Seems fun, but its effective ?
My other option is Crusader Hammerin and WD Spirit of Arachyr because I've never tried that one

|
Uliana's is also an extreme sweetspot build. Either you one shot the mob and speed clear, or you push to really high GR levels and chain down giant mobs. Anything in-between feels awful.
|
Effective as in pushing high GR, 75+

really the only way to play is from level one and jack up the difficulty, it is pretty fun then

I played through it yesterday, and while I would be pissed if I paid for it, as a free event it was quite worth it! It was good to get the movement, graphics and sounds of D1.

many people dont like it because of D3 monsters, D3 maps and more of D3. Only graphic and sound is from D1. I don't know if this is true, I never played D1 and PTR.
|
Yeah I'm pretty sure people (rightfully) expected D1 classes, D1 monsters in the D1 map.
|
Did they really expect that they should implement D1 classes and monsters for a small anniversary event? Seems unreasonable to me.

I could run around on forums every where screaming about how WildStar's combat is a million times better than WoW's combat though.
your personal subjective judgements about a game are not objective proof the game is either good or bad. neither are mine. i don't like WoW and that don't mean a damn thing.
as long as a community out there actively plays the game it does not matter that many hate it. there are millions of "Blades of Steel" fans screaming that "NHL '94 Hockey" sucks balls. my response to those angry haters is.. "so what? we're having fun".
You know what is lowering my Diablo3 and SC2 playing time these days? Do you know what is eroding these 2 communities to the point these 2 games ARE ON THE VERGE OF EXTINCTION?!?!!?!? EXTINCTION I SAY ! ! !
What is this great game eroding the D3 and SC2 player base? Overwatch.
