Agreed to the rest. IIrc there isn't that much comic relief though, a bit surprised by that point. The best point of d3 btw is that combat is fast and explosive.
Btw isn't lvl 15 like half an hour playtime???
I did it slow (on hard) so lvl 15 took me about two hours as I like to explore every corner of the map. Another pet peeve I have with D3 is the fact that the dialogue is horribly written and voice acting is rather sub-par.
I know it's not much gameplay done but it's telling a lot when after such short time I can't find the will to continue and instead go back to playing D2...
As far as comic relief goes it's in some of the dialogue, then there's this farmer who is talking to his skeletal wife sitting in the rocking chair and when her head falls off he says she "dozed off again". Also, some of the skill/rune names... They could just as well name them "more hardcore".
As far as GD is concerned I liked it a lot since I was a huge fan of Titan Quest. I really like how your character isn't so god damn ultra good and some of the skills are down right gruesome. There's also the case of the world being nicely dark and overall better done than in D3. The locations, the atmosphere, it all adds up to a more enjoyable playing experience.
so, you bought RoS expansion, but didnt even play it?
You can't buy vanilla D3. Only one with RoS included (either upgrade vanilla to RoS or grab battle chest). At least the options presented to me were the D3 battle chest and D3 deluxe edition which is battle chest and gives you some shit for WoW (for double the price) which I didn't care about.
Edit: And seriously, what is Blizzard thinking? They release such crap in hopes of making money. They spend a ton of money and development time on it in the first place only to give us such dismal pile of dung? If they would re-release D1 and D2 with graphics scaling to widescreen and better resolutions available (there are even mods for that FFS) they would probably get more customers... Especially that HD remakes of old titles are pretty hip right now.

as Blizzard's business has scaled up and they work on 6 products simultaneously the amount of bad product they release rises. the unrealistic expectations of fanboys magnify this issue. Brood War took 1.5 years to balance and remove many many exploits; vanilla SC1 was never balanced. To hear it from the detractors of 2016 Blizzard.. Brood War was perfect on release day.
you can have quality or you can have quantity.. you can't have both.

Don't think there is. Maybe with TL+? :o)
And if you don't want to read blizzard bashing... maybe you need to find a different forum. :/

there was a script people used to hide Azarkon's posts, ask around and maybe someone will still have it ;]
shame they wasted so much effort for crap like this, and I had such hopes for blizzcon

Bring back Blizzard North please...
And how did you decide that they spent "a ton of money and development time" on this ? If you ask me, they didn't spend more than a month on that crap. It's a regular rift with the same monsters from d3. Some visual effects, 8 directional movement and some monster skins... Yeah, a ton of money and develoment time, sure. I expected it to be dissapointing and it is... No surprises.
What I'm really surprised is that they are releasing a new hero. Why ? This game is on it's last legs, a new hero will not revive it... Even, if it's the necromancer. And from what I saw, the hero is nothing special. Basically D3 caster hero with bone/blood themed spells. Yeah, exciting. This season I barelly touched the game and I'm already bored.
D2 HD with decent end game content OR Diablo 4... This is how I see the future of Diablo. Problably 3 years from now at the very least.
As long as you are aware that D4 will be far away from D2 and probably a D3 without the bandaids, because people prefer to buy their legendaries from ebay instead from an ingame auction house .

Well voice acting was always sub-par in diablo tbh.
Not saying d3 is perfect, it's not as dark as d2 and many of it's cutscenes and general writing are cheesy af. I also agree with you on d2 having the cooler skills. D3 does however have the faster combat and far better lategame content. The main criticism atm is that they don't deliver new content, not that the game is terrible.
I liked GD, but I can't say that it's even close to d3 for me. Skill design, leveling after 50, noticeable lack of budget, lack of story, loot system pre 50 (haven't played much longer), damage types, all stuff diablo 3 does better. Fighting in GD overall is way less explosive and flashy, I like my fights on steroids, might be different for you. In all honesty GD gets saved by it's devotion and component systems and that it's grim. Occultist is he worst designed class I've ever seen and Arcanist is barely better. Diablo3 has some badly designed skills, but at least it's got enough that you can still pick some good stuff.
Not sure which class you picked in d3, that always made a large difference for me.

i can't stop playing the d1 callback anniversary retro whatever the hell it is event just because the combat is so simplified that it's actually fun to play d3 again. what's this? no hero packs with 18 different affixes that drag out combat until the break of dawn just to kill 6 monsters that aren't even "bosses"? sign me up for that shit.
If you take more than 10 seconds to kill a boss pack you might want to consider reducing your difficulty :/
Man, the retro filter was really uncomfortable. I loved D1, but that thing really hurt my eyes. It was gross. It was fun to see the names of the items and remember how excited I would have been to find a Godly Plate of the Whale or a Kings Sword of Haste. That was kind of fun. + Show Spoiler +
Butcher caught me by surprise. I remember opening that door being one of the scariest moments of my childhood. The ol' Bastard got me again.
Overall, it was a pretty fun way to kill an hour or so. I'll probably do it again on live for the achievement.

Blizzard's 1st PC game arrived in late '94 or early '95 in Europe. WoW was late 2004. so, Blizz good for 10 years and then "ruined" for the last 11+ years. ok, man.
generally, when a company makes a garbage game its the next game they make that pays the price in terms of sales totals.
somehow, after 11+ years of crap Overwatch manages to exceed 20 million paid players in 6 months with stupid high levels of engagement.

LoL has made Riot a lot of money, and I don't consider it to be a good game. Batman vs Superman has made Warner Bros. a lot of money, and I don't consider it to be a good movie.
Sure, you can release crap that sells for 11 years. How does that make you a good company?
