I mean i feel we're getting into semantics but the press conference at Blizzcon definitely hyped up a much cooler experience than what was delivered. Not sure 'rightful' or 'mad' expresses most users feelings but it most definitely failed to capture the excitement or vibe that Blizzard was going for or 'promised' when they announced the 'Diablo 1 remake inside Diablo 3'.

but its not an issue of semantics as to what they promised. they did not promise d1 classes, d1 monsters (except bosses) or d1 maps. so expecting those things (which would be incredibly costly; jesus, they would have to do all of the artwork, skills, etc. to put the old chars/monsters into the game) is kind of absurd given this is a free event.
also, the fact that they said necromancer would cost money should have clued most people in that they arent getting free classes for d1.

People expected effort, got half-assed rift instead, for a limited time too. IMO it would've been better to get nothing at all, simple as that. Just because a company does something for free doesn't mean we should grovel at their feet and be thankful for anything we get. Your view point that people should be thankful for anything they can get is just as skewed as of those who expected the next coming of Christ with Blizzcon's 2016 Diablo announcements.
I personally expected D3X2. I didn't get what I wanted either. But I'm completely apathetic to this "gracious" limited-time offer of reliving D1 inside D3, as well as necro class "late 2017". I'm pretty sure I'll have moved on by that time, to newer greener pastures, as well as many other people will, I imagine.

They taught me to put effort into things I do for others. Also, to only reward real, genuine effort not half-hearted, half-assed tries.

I think big part of the reason some are complaining about the D1 event is that they were hoping for D3X2, or D4. If this had randomly appeared in one of the patches, I think it would've been received differently.

i wonder how much behind the scenes BS was going on that facilitated this D1 nonsense. i wonder if its part of the reason Josh Mosqueira left Blizzard for Bonfire... or if his leaving turned the team into a rudderless ship.

Yes it would take work to make but then they should have announced it differently if they wanted to a different amount of work.
I went back to the video clips.twitch.tv
We are recreating the original Diablo in Diablo 3 That certainly sounds like classes, monsters and the map.

nevertheless, this has gone far afield. i have no problem with people being disappointed or not liking the d1 event (i didnt like the event), but whining about a free gift is incredibly stupid and just reinforces my belief that the vocal people on forums (not you specifically cascade) are a bunch of whiny, entitled children.

But what matters with these types of announcements is first impressions. You say something standing on that stage and it forms an image in people's heads. And that image is what the end result gets compared to.
Saying "We are recreating the original Diablo in Diablo 3" puts the original Diablo with Diablo 3's engine in my head. I see a graphical update of the old monsters, the old heroes and the old map. I don't see a D3 rift with a grainy filter on it and I will bet you many many more people had that same image.
Hence why many people are disappointed by the event.

i guess if you only listened to that one sentence, and ignored the presentations, the slideshows, the pictures of what it actually looks like, all the live reporting, and everything else related to teh announcement, then you may have a legitimate argument (still tenuous in my mind), but then you only have yourself to blame.
i mean, they showed you what it looked like and let people play it the same day (and for the rest of us on ptr within a few days).

Thanks for the link. When I pick up the game again I'll be tremendously happy about the following change:
Bounties Bonus Acts have been removed With this change, completing five bounties in any act will now grant you a Large Horadric Chest containing the same contents as the Horadric and Bonus Caches
The QOL improvement to builds and crafting are welcome as well. About the primal ancient gear... I feel this is just a way to prolong perfecting a build. Not a fan on the first glance. With all the hidden boni the game relies less on weapon damage compared to skill and item combinations. The armory I find nice.
|
The primal thing doesn't really affect me or anyone else that isn't pushing ultra-high GRs every season. But it's still disappointing and lazy. Love the other changes and quality of life stuff though. VERY excited about being able to switch builds/gear with the click of a button.
|
the problem with the primal thing is that i'd rather have item rarity be based on the actual unique effect of the item like it used to be rather than the particular tier of stat rolls. it felt much better to get a rare item that would make your character stronger like a starmetal or taskers for the effect it had than it feels to get 99 taskers with 500 main stat instead of the primal with +1000 or whatever
|
Ye ofcourse and iam pretty sure most people feel that way but this is blizzard way of making a grinding game even grindier. They are professionals when it comes to grind games.
Hm i think i can foresee the future, their next thing to do itemwise is to release primal v.2.. Making it even..grindier..again..
|
the seismic slam change is quite good, but the skill build is too weak to make contest with whirlwind build that barbs do for high GR's. i've only gotten to around 70 with a twinked seismic build on HC before it was just too scary and dependant on good maps/weak mobs, who knows! with this change.
