I know right. This is a source of much frustration for me, but i guess when it does happen it will be worth the wait.

This is the map I added the character names to, it is higher quality. I couldn't figure out how to upload the altered version in the same quality. I took it off of page 715 of this thread.

I think she still has no idea what to do when she gets to Westeros. She hasn't been there for such a long time. She doesn't know anything about it, about the big powers operating there. The most she knows is what her mad brother told her and this guy thought that all of Westeros is just waiting for him to return onto the throne. Her best bet would be to wait till her dragons are prowerful enough to just take Westeros but she made it clear multiple times that she doesn't want to wait.

Keep in mind that her two closest advisors spent most of their adult lives in Westeros, and Barristan Selmy was very close to those currently in power, among other great houses. I can't think of any single person I'd rather have advising her about what to expect when she returns.

Selmy was a bodyguard basically, and failed 2 of the last 2 kings. well, 3 if you count the crown prince. The other guy wasnt even a big shot in the North, much less the rest of the empire. Just a guy who was good at being a knight apparently.

Regardless of if Barristan "failed" them, he still served as the highest ranked knight in the Seven Kingdoms. He knows what houses hold the power and he knows whose side most people are on. Obviously some changes have been made since he left. But i'm sure he has a pretty good idea.

I think Barristan Selmy will help her learn "the lay of the land" of Westeros. Also, it's not exactly a well kept secret that Varys wants her to return. The spider is a powerful ally to have if she's seeking information. I do agree that Dany should wait until her dragons are grown, yet she doesn't seem patient enough for that.

I mean Kings are mortal and he is neither god nor superman and it is kinda harsh blaming him for Jaime being backstab happy and Robert being drugged if not poisoned while hunting Bears. Not to mention Barristan was kicked out so he hardly failed Joffrey.

Looking at the map i wonder why Robb doesnt march on Casterly Rock and forces the Lannister army to engage him. I mean he wanted to force a fight on open ground the whole time and laying siege unto Casterly Rock (with the Lannister/Tyrell army near Kings Landing) seems like it would force the Lannisters to either attack Robb or lose their home city and all the gold they have there.

Think your overestimating how easy is it to take a fortified castle, He could siege Casterly Rock and he would find himselves sandwiched against its walls when the rest of the Lannister army hits him in the back. Tywinn is no fool. he will have left enough behind to ensure its safety long enough for reinforcements.

I guess you are right that he wont be able to take the castle before the Lannister army arrives but it would still force them to move and Robb could avoid getting sandwiched if he has scouts reporting if the Lannister army moves out. I just thought that instead of chasing the Lannister army through half of Westeros just to fight them he could force the fight (isnt that what he wanted all along?).

Ill be able to pick up on more subtle details and try to catch hints/clues on plot progression etc. i highly recommend to do so. Even with having read the books, i re-watched the first 2 seasons before the third began.

Don't want to be mean, but there is nothing very "subtle" at all in the whole show.
That's might even be why it's so enjoyable.

I think he meant the stuff that happened so fast you kind of miss it, or characters that reappear and you have no idea who they are.

Well of course, that's what the internet is for
