It took a month for them to ride from Winterfell to King's Landing in season 1, that was on horseback. That'd be 50 miles a day. I suppose on foot, you could do that in 2 - 2.5 months. Still, that's about 4 times as big as the UK (London - Glasgow is 400 mi).

I kind of doubt that the king was moving at any sort of rational speed. Probably stopped at every tavern or something.

This is the scene from the last episode. Joffery says it at 2:20 + Show Spoiler + Edit: I just now noticed Tywin's jab at Joffrey "Any man who must say 'I am the King' is no true King." So many things I've never noticed before, this show is awesome!

King Harold before the battle of Hastings marched around 27 miles a day. Given that this was in urgent preparation of defending the country, rather than just mosying on down to see some friends, I doubt Robert's cavalcade would have reached 20 miles a day. 1500 seems excessively far.

Joffery says that his real father, (Robert Baratheon) killed prince Rheagar when he took the crown. I mean doesn't everyone else in the room know the truth but have they really kept Joffrey in the dark about the whole affair? (pun intended) This is the scene from the last episode. So many things I've never noticed before, this show is awesome! Joffrey does not know. He thinks his father is Robert. He even asked his mother about "those disgusting rumors" back in season 2 I believe. tywin deep down probably has suspicions, but he is probably in denial. And the others probably don't know for sure and even if they did, they wouldn't dare bring it up.

And the others probably don't know for sure and even if they did, they wouldn't dare bring it up. I think you underestimate them. I'd say there are very few people on that small council, if any, that do not know the truth about Joffrey. Some, like Varys and Littlefinger, because it is their job to know, and others because of the events that happened with Jon Arryn and Ned Stark they were able to put 2 and 2 together. Joffrey may actually be stupid enough to believe Robert is his biological father, but he at least has some suspicious since he had all of Robert's bastards that he could find put to the sword. He also clearly only uses the Baratheon name because that is what gives him the rights to be King of Westeros, but is a Lannister in heart and soul. You can bet that Tywin knows. He is too intelligent and too thorough in his work to be unsure about the matter. But you are right that he, and anyone else who knows what is good for them, would never bring the issue up as anything but a vicious rumor. They have too much to lose, were it to be proven true, to do anything but pretend like it's a lie. It's probably one of the reasons Tywin has absolutely no respect for his daughter, since if she had just done her duty and had her children by Robert, it is likely that this war would have never started. But Joffrey is clearly insane so it is hard to say what he does or doesn't know for sure. He seems to adopt whichever family heritage suits him at the time of whatever rant he is going on. And yes, A man who must say "I am King," is no true king was one of my favorite lines. Charles Dance has been taking it to the bank.

Also your post gave me another thought, the Mad King and Joffrey share many things in common. Both are inbred, sadistic assholes. Maybe I'll watch the lore videos again. Perhaps a member of the King's Guard with slay him as well although that would just be disappointing for me to see unless Jaime is the one who does it, then it would be awesome!

It's never clear, but you can assume they might or not, but either way it's not something they will bring up. On the other hand, Joffrey's insult to Tywin was just as good or better because it's true. Tywin was hiding behind Casterly Rock while, Rob/Ned and Jon arryn's army did all the work and he only took sides after the battle of the trident when the war was all but decided.

Okay first the history and lore of westeros. Now inside the episode...are there any more veritable goldmines of entertainment for the GoT-addicted ignorants like me?!?!?
