It could happen. They have been building towards it for a while, and if she finds that Lumen is the vigilante she will likely forgive her because of what she's been through and what Jordan and his posse deserved. Its also possible that If she does find out, she will want Lumen to leave town, which would be one way of writing her out of the show. If she learns about Dexter though, I can't imagine him telling her everything including the Bay Harbor Butcher thing, cause I don't see her forgiving him for framing Doakes (who was a good cop). The dynamic is different from the novels. Yeah, I'm wondering how they're going to write Lumen out. I'm not sure if I would like her around more permanently. I like the character now and what she brings, but I think ultimately I would want Dexter to have someone like Rita to bring him into the light. If Lumen and Dexter get together permanently then she would be too much of an enabler. I'm definitely cheering for Dexter to become "human." It's possible she just decides to go back to Minnesota. They've never really fully explained why she ran away in the first place and they spent decent enough time talking about it that it seems unlikely it won't come back up. Didn't she run away because of that whole wedding incident? What happened there? I don't really remember lumen just says she wasn't ready to settle down as a married woman, so she took a trip to miami to be free, but ironically was captured by the jordan chase rape group. there wasn't a whole lot of detail to it. owen shows up in episode 8 if you care enough to comb it for more details, but im pretty sure she doesn't say much about it.
yeah that's what I thought happened. It seems kind of like they introduced that story just so she could have a reason to leave the show. The emphasis has been on "seeing this through to the end." She just wants revenge on the people that raped her, I don't think she is much "like dexter." Even Dexter asked her to go home last episode. I just don't see this girl going around cutting up people with Dexter next season but maybe she could have a domestic role like Rita. She can be Mary Jane to Dexter's spiderman

This actually seems like one of the Best Season Finales of Dexter, I couldn't be more excited to see it this sunday.

Dexter is so high level. Can't. Wait.

I loved Dexter season 1. However, I'm just really not enjoying the 2nd season- I pretty much have to force myself to get through whole episodes. I don't know if I'm just sick of the show or if season 2 is just low quality. Would you guys recommend continuing on?

If you have watched too much of this show quickly, what's stopping you from taking a break from it? Maybe you will enjoy it more in a week.

I enjoyed Season 4 the most, after 1.

interesting, i always thought season 3 was the worst.

I picked up the first season as per your guys' suggestion, and absolutely loved it!

I hope Lumen dies. I hate that bitch. Actually I hate Julia Styles lol
|
Nooo! Lumen is the best! I read in a daily paper today that the writer hopes that she doesn't actually die, but that she just leaves on a boat or something since Julia didn't sign on for another season. Too bad, I really liked the chemistry between Dex and Lumen.

Did I entirely forget about what happened, but didn't the second Santa Muerte brother just disappear? Are they leaving that where it is, as just an event that sparked Deb-Laguerta drama, or does anyone think he'll come back for the finale?

The Muerte brothers and the Spanish cop are irrelevant. We haven't seen them since they served their purpose.

I might be risking a ban/warning but I have to say that the books are absolutely incredible. I am a huge fan of the show but after reading 3 of the books I have to say they make the show look like childs play and frankly the storyline is much more believable.

How do you know that, Source?

I actually totally disagree.
I felt that the first and second seasons are way better than the books.

Agreed. The books are more believable? I assume thats ignoring the fact that in book 3 iirc... + Show Spoiler +Dexter is possessed by a demon?

I have read the books as well, and you haven't provided a very good argument for why you believe this to be the case. The only comparisons you can make are between s1/2 and the first two books, obviously, so let's talk about them. The first book has Laguerta as an extremely one dimensional greedy bitch who only cares about money and power. Granted, this is one of her major characteristics in the show as well, but she's also capable of much more. Her relationships with Miguel Prado and Sgt. Doakes proved that she is also capable of a great deal of empathy.
Deb in the books is portrayed as a bit of an idiot. She is basically a big boobed dumbo that relies nearly 100% on her brother Dexter for all of her detective work. In the show, we find that she has a great deal of intuition herself and+ Show Spoiler + in season 5 has managed to nearly catch her own brother, the master criminal.
Seasons 1 and 2 of Dexter are also far more detailed than the books. Generally, the reason that books are considered better than movies or tv shows is because they are more detailed and cohesive. The television show in this case is the one that is more detailed and cohesive. And finally...
Dexter himself is a much more interesting character in the television show. In the book, Dexter actually is a nearly emotionless monster. In the television show, the opposite is true. Dexter *believes* he is an emotionless monster, but over the course of the show, it becomes apparent that he is quite capable of feeling human emotions given the right person.
The subplot of Doakes vs Dexter in season 2 was also very well done. In the book, that subplot was far less developed due to Doakes being mentally damaged by the crazy Dr. Danko. We never get to see Dexter and Doakes come eye to eye in the book, and that makes it less interesting.
Why do you find the books to be better? There's less detail, and less interesting things going on. The book is all plot and no character development.

Anyone have a link to a stream for the finale?
|
The finale has ended.
*Spoilers*
Be prepared for a tremendus wrap-up of the season. They wrap everything up with a nice bow-tie like an xmas gift. They wrap it up so nice and tight that there's no obvious direction for season 6. Personally, I'm disappointed, they set up so many great possibilities and not only did they decline to pull the trigger on a single one of them, they pulled the rug out and made it unlikely that they'll go back in that direction anytime soon.
