speaking of subplot, i feel like the nanny had way too much screen time this season to just be a non-factor, but with just 1 episode left it doesn't seem like anything will happen with her anymore. also im anticipating some bad news at harrison's birthday party causing a season finale cliffhanger. edit: nevermind about the birthday party thing. i just watched the extended previews for the finale and saw why harrison's birthday was brought up. | ||

If the police finger Quinn then Quinn fingers Dexter and Deb gets mad at Quinn for hiring Libby. So it's really looking bad for any happy ending there if they follow that story all the way out. | ||

My season finale prediction: + Show Spoiler + Quinn notices the blood on his shoe, figures out what happened to Liddy, but hooks up with Deb and doesn't care anymore. At the end he destroys the photographs and (symbolically) wipes the blood stain off his shoe. I don't believe the blood will be a plot point, I believe it's there to generate suspense and anticipation | ||

Even though there was really big potential for a great finale I'm pretty sure that Quinn will be implcated by the blood drop on his shoe and he will goto jail for it, this is not the most satisfying ending for the series but there is a valid reason for it. Dexter was renewed for a 6th season and Quinn can hardly be kept on the show knowing about Dexter and Lumin's connections and activity. It wouldnt surprise me if the police never even connect Lumin to Chase and the murders so that she can freely interact with Debb and the others next season as Dexters legit GF. | ||

Regarding how much Dexter seasons are left, i always thought there is at least 6th. Fifth was obviously(imo) not the last. The villain wasn't great enough, the acts villain committed didnt have enough grandeur, and the personal relationships werent culminated before the finale. The kids were "dumped" and while at first i figured it was just bad writing it became clear later that they were just putting that issue off. I feel like Dexter has 1 maybe two real seasons left(2 only because the writers have proven they have the juice to get going, personally i cant imagine enough for two seasons), but they always can put an "off" season in between(a la season 3). And i hope thats what they'd do(if they have to) because i'd rather see a shitty season proceed a really great one then great seasons run into kill of the week type series that is just milking money. Also i feel like now a different ending is possible for Dexter. I felt like before Lumen was tehre the only options to end it were him dead or jailed(mostly dead i guess because jailed dexter just doesnt have enough closure to it). Now i feel like him moving somewhere and having a (relatively) happy ending is something the writers can make work.<-unrleated mutually exclusive thoughts(imo)-> I think having a 'wife' that helps him hide his deeds, if written well, can open a really interesting part of this psychological drama. But i also wouldn't put much stock in the supposedly signed contract for season 6. I have absolutely no doubt that when the real last season comes around they will have a contract for another extension that will be bogus. Its also possible that If she does find out, she will want Lumen to leave town, which would be one way of writing her out of the show. If she learns about Dexter though, I can't imagine him telling her everything including the Bay Harbor Butcher thing, cause I don't see her forgiving him for framing Doakes (who was a good cop). The dynamic is different from the novels. | ||
