"Today is the last day of voting and soon we will know, who will go to The Summit 3, and therefore we would like to make a small announcement.
The last few days have influenced us very much. For the first time since very long our team is practicing not just for the sake of it, but is conducting an effective training process. Many important matches lie ahead of Natus Vincere, where you will be able to see our progress.
The campaign that our organization has launched to support us, and also your feedback on it have pushed us to work harder and made us realize that the main goal is not the trip to The Summit 3, but the recovery of the lost trust. The trust that can't be brought back just by funny videos, pictures and interviews, but only by hard work, great games and glorious victories.
Today, no matter what the voting results will be, we are deeply thankful to everyone who took part in this, as only with your support and feedback we understood that our goal is much deeper than to just train and win. Your trust. We will bring it back.
Truly yours, XBOCT, Dendi, Funn1k, ArtStyle, Sonneiko"

Need to beat C9 to get to ESL Frankfurt, if they manage to win that, or get top3, I say they will probably get invited to TI. It's nice to see Navi looking good. :D

na'vi needs to perform better than that

They are not winning no ESL frankfurt..... sorry , I dont think they are solid enough now , maybe after the patch hits and things get "resetted" for the meta and other teams they might be able to be Tier 1 (crossing fingers).

We'll see how strong they are when they come out of bootcamp.
|
from the looks of their performance for now i think theirs a good chance they will qualify for ESL instead of c9 but against the stronger teams that we need to see

ESL Frankfurt is far after TI invites go out. I don't see any chance in NaVi getting a TI invite, their performance hasn't been good enough, they've been switching players and they simply don't have enough time to get results before the invites. But of course they will get into TI qualifiers, and they have a chance to get their slot there.

I think NaVi does not deserve an invite even if they qualify to ESL and then win it. If that were the case, I feel they would just be on par with other teams like Alliance, VP, NiP or HR, and so they all should play qualifiers.
Weird is the case of Alliance, that after long time of being straight bad, with no permanent lineup until recently, are weighted above teams like VP, HR or even Empire. I don't get if it is just bias at its best or I am missing something.
One and a half or two months of "good results" is, for me, not enough to reach the consistency of Empire, and by consistency I don't mean getting 2nd/3rd place on every tournament they played, but hanging at the T1.5 tier for way too long.
In short, I think Empire is slightly ahead, then come VP, HR and Alliance, and ultimately NaVi.

Alliance definitely isn't ahead of Empire and VP in my book. They did well to qualify for ESL and SL, but they also didn't qualify for Summit and Redbull (although they lost to Secret and c9 in both) and recently they went 1-5 in their last 6 games for D2CL and didn't make the playoffs at all. Not qualifying to all events is of course sort of expected, but imo they would have needed to do even better because they have very few actual results before the most recent lineup change and their improved online performance. Alliance has a chance to pull off a good LAN result at SL before invites go out, but I highly doubt they will. Even with decent form, the tournament is pretty competitive with for example VG, iG, Secret and c9 in attendance, and they would have to beat most if not all of those teams to make a really impressive tournament run.
Meanwhile Empire and VP have much better results from a longer time, and from a few LANs as well. NaVi doesn't have the same opportunity to prove themselves as Alliance because they didn't qualify to SL.

And that is exactly why I sorted them like I did.
My opinion about Alliance wasn't directed at you tho. Just a general perception. I don't know if [A] fans just appeared from nowhere or Empire's fans don't voice their opinions, but lately, the amount of opinions I read in Liquiddota about Alliance deserving an invite are overwhelming compared to Empire's.

If you are going to do an invite system do it with points like WCS, its way more transparent
|
I'm pretty sure the invites outside c9/eg/secret should go to either asus or empire or both or neither. I think they deserve it than most. While i said that na'vi has a chance to actually beat c9 for esl my main reason is that they are relatively new team for now and like every new team usually they would rekt everybody until they get figured out. And pretty sure c9 has always been the victim of that.
Also there's a chance that na'vi will actually be dominant again and continue rekting or keeping up with the best at least.
I don't really like the WCS points system. There will be teams who will qualify for TI who won the weaker tournament while those who can actually fight the best of the best who could unfortunately could not win cause the competition is fierce has a lesser chance to qualify than those who compete for the weaker tournaments and win. What happens is that TI will have 1-3 teams who win the major tournaments and the rest are the teams that win the lower tier tournaments which excludes the teams who could actually fight the top dogs.(aka TI will have shit level of competition) While sc2 is very inconsistent compared to dota 2 pro scene but i see that alot in wcs players like Maru and Rain sometimes didn't qualify at one point cause they played at the KR region.
That said it could be fixed by giving different amount of points per tournament depending on the level of competition.

Would it be at all possible for more than 16 teams to make the main event? The scene has grown so much since the first TI, and the prize pool has become so large that I think perhaps we can extend to a slightly bigger tournament? Maybe have like 2 teams per region (so 3rd/4th pace matches in qualifiers are more important) go through to wildcards and have a mini tournament for the last wildcard?
I feel like there are so many good teams that without some thing being slightly altered, many many many fans will be mad :o

That's another reason why Valve should adopt my approach of making the main qualifiers for each region a major LAN. So even if your team doesn't make the event in Seattle they at least got to be in the "majors" leading up to it (assuming they made it/were invited past the prequalifiers).
And yeah I like the idea of a global wildcard tournament also (like the wildcard group stage last year only bigger) but not sure if the combination of expenses and stupid visa obstacles makes that feasible.

there is a global wildcard at ti

B) Responding to the idea that fans will be disappointed, the way they did it last year is not going to be satisfactory in that regard, even if it served a utilitarian purpose. Plenty of people commented that having teams come to Seattle and not even be at the LAN-proper was just kinda weird.

I like the 16 teams format keeps the quality of TI high and makes it feel like a world championship.

@fhdh ? nothing's been announced regarding runner ups in qualifiers etc and with the full week available to them you can be sure valve will be showing off far more teams on the big stage this year.

I actually really like the format last year. Of course it crushes dreams cause half the teams are eliminated but maybe if they make it a b02/b03 and they fix the schedule of the playoffs of you know not getting the first grand finalist in the first day that was so anticlimactic. I think it's a really good format all games are important.
b02/b03 may take really long but it's better than b01's for sure.
