I remember when some teams were in top 20 while they had disbanded months before that...

They belong in the tier of teams that maybe gets invited to quals and loses. Well you're entitled to that opinion but I think they are showing a lot more promise than that. VG Secret C9 EG Ignoring regions, these are the guys you absolutely have to have, with no argument I can imagine. So you have four S-Tier teams. Is one of these teams going to win TI? Maybe, but you're a fool if you think that's definite. IG LGD VP Empire Rave These are teams I think there's little argument should be in there with the others. How many "bad teams" do you see so far? We're up to nine, and we have one Americas team and one SEA team so far. Na'Vi NiP Alliance Tinker Newbee HR Burden All of these teams could realistically meet or exceed the quality of play of the last batch of teams by the time TI rolls around. That is, they could be expected to compete with the S Tier teams though they'd be underdogs. Now we're up to sixteen. Can you think of any teams you'd rather see on this section of the list? Of course you can. Because there are a lot of capable teams right now. (Also I don't pay s lot of attention to China when they aren't at international LANs). None of them are bad, although surely when the time comes at least a couple will fail to rise to the challenge. What's my point? Simply that there isn't a shortage of good teams right now, and even if you think there is, shutting the door on teams on the cusp isn't going to fix it. I don't see how Team Malaysia is not on there and Rave is. Rave is a decent team in a weak region, but TM has that going for them as well. I think direct invites are: VG, iG, LGD from China Secret, C9, Empire, VP? from Europe EG from NA (I actually think Tinker can sneak in here, see below) Malaysia from SEA (Rave can sneak in too, see below) That's 8 + 1? teams which I think are hard to argue don't belong, especially since Valve wants to keep regional representation. I think they will go up to 11 direct invites again with 4 regional qualifiers and 2nd place getting a play-in chance and the reason I can see Tinker and Rave sneaking in is because Valve wants to keep regional diversity (TI is as much about marketing as anything else). The big problem I see is that the invites are coming so soon, before all the big tournaments. Anyways, back on topic: For Na'vi, NiP, Alliance, Tinker, HR, and Burden (and I'll even throw VP in here since Secret + C9 are obviously safe and Empire beating EG at MLG means they're safe), they've all qualified for lans but as we saw with the the first iteration of Tinker just qualifying for lans doesn't mean anything, you actually have to perform at those lans. If any of these teams has a break out performance at one of the lans they're attending while someone who was relatively safe bombs out, it could mean the difference between direct invite or not. I don't know if Na'vi management can somehow pull it off by stuffing Na'vi into D2CL or create a invitational tourney to try and get this team to TI (if they are up to the level now that Artstyle is back and can manage to win, obviously) the exact same way EG did one year ago. EG was a new team but really hot beatnig all the other NA teams and they hosted the Monster Invitational with only 3 other teams (and only 1 'real' team) and won and gave themselves tons of momentum. The biggest problem is time, it's already end of April... If Na'vi can hold an invitational wth NiP, Alliance, HR, Burden, and VP (maybe you don't need HR and Burden as those two teams are still half a step below though definitely not too far, but at the same time when you've been playing this bad for so long you really need to prove yourself) and beat them all that'd be the best chance for them to get in on an EU invite I'd think. And if Na'vi doesn't win then they clearly know they don't deserve a direct invite and will be invited to the qualifiers anyways cause there are definitely not 8 teams better than even this Na'vi in Europe.

As someone who is from the US, is it honestly that hard for Eastern Europeans to visit the US for a week?

Also, if someone does not have one of many required things in order, they must do it during that week, and bureaucracy has its ways. Not every country works fast and steady.

ASUS.Polar was ranked higher than Na'Vi and Virtus.Pro (the one with Bzz etc.) was ranked lower, and when the VP organization transferred the Polar roster to Virtus.Pro the same thing happened on GGnet. GGnet just transferred ASUS.Polar's players to the already existing (and lower ranked than Na'Vi) Virtus.pro entry on the GGnet rankings list and the ASUS.Polar entry was removed altogether. Regarding the visa issues for Russians, getting into the USA has been a difficult process ever since 9/11. Not to mention that the USA and Russia are not on the best diplomatic terms.

This could be some pretty good news for Navi. What do you guys think? If they aren't relying on just one tournament, or if new routes into TI are opening up, then there could be some interesting chances on the horizon for Navi. Esp with the roster rules
