Period. There is literally no excusing it. We traded a damn good NHL defenceman for some magic beans. Not even A-Grade magic beans, a bunch of c-grade four years off magic beans. The only thing that potentially redeems it is if after Smid takes a physical and all these moves go through there is another trade to come, but even then you'd have to see what that move is. For example, say this extra cap spcae facilitates a move where the Oilers acquire a Shea Weber or something, then awesome. But i have no faith in Oilers. The second move thing would make sense... but its Oilers management so it probably just them being incompetent. + Show Spoiler + ![]() UGH. Such a bad trade. Took a heart and soul guy who is literally exactly what the team needs and gave him away for nothing to the teams biggest rival. What a kick in the balls.

The move was to free cap space for Bryzgalov. Edmonton is a team at the top of the salary cap with very little room. No trade inc. edit: I am aware capgeek says edm has 6m+ in avalible cap space. Probably safe to assume most oilers will not reach their bonuses but thats what its for as far as I can tell

We had 4.7 Million in cap space though after bonuses because of all our injuries this year though. I dont think a trade is coming, the move just makes nopsense because we could have paid bryz 2 million and been fine regardless... There was no buying capspace here, was all just throwing away a good player for magic beans. The worst part is we could have just signed Bryzgalov for the same money we spent on Labarbera but didn't. Anyone and their moms dog could have told you Labarbera was mediocre at best... and that was in front of the pheonix coyotes.

Eakins has it out for Yakupov. Its not even sheltering or bringing him along well, its just shafting him. He scores a goal midway through the 2nd period. AFter he scores and makes the game 2-1, with 11 minutes left in the second he saw exactly 28 seconds of icetime. Wut the hell is that. (And now that you mention it, I'd like me an Ekblad...)

On top of that does anyone believe that Bryzgalov is the solution in edmonton?? He looked so bad last year... why would you want to go trough that again ... if not for 3 million dollars!

That being said, Daryll Katz is too content just chilling with his childhood heroes MacT, Lowe, and Messier to consider making a move like that. God forbid you fire some incompetent fools that have made the Oilers the laughing stock of all sporting organizations. We have the worst pro sports team in north america easily over the last six years. Easily.

Why cant he go back to playing the way he played in October, murdering my fantasy team. Sharks need to find their discipline, you cant just shotgun everygame and hope you win 5-4, this isnt Oiler hockey!

The Flames are just as terrible, actually in many ways worse since at least you have a bunch of first rounders. The Flames dont even have that. And Toronto was terrible basically until last year. So there there, almost all Canadian teams exploit Canadian hockey fans to put out year after year mediocre to crap teams consistently and still sell out arenas.

Neither of those clubs finished dead last three years in a row. Oilers viewership is about to fall off a cliff if something big doesn't happen. We had a 10 year sell out streak, yet this season we havn't sold out Rexall place in our last four games. I'm hoping it gets good in empty in there. Put some heat on Katz to shitcan the terrible management in place. The Oilers certainly aren't getting any of my money any time soon. I've still been following them, but I havn't watched games and refuse to give their website traffic. Realistically, that probably means shit all, but it makes me feel like I am doing something. I can't even watch anymore without just being pissed off. There is being a mediocre team, and there is just flat out sucking, and the Oilers just flat out suck. We dont even play well like we were at the beginning of the year. We just bleed chances and get outhit while letting 5 goals every game.

Does anyone watching the Flames believes that that team is going to make the playoffs? hell no. The flames atleast look like they can win a game on any given night. The Oilers got dumpstered by the Flyers. And the Sabres. There is literally nothing good about the Oilers. We just suck. Even our media sucks. Atleast Toronto's media asks hard questions. Our media cannot even criticize the clubs performance or they get slaps on the wrist and have their in game media passes taken away. We don't even have free-lance media to do that for us because the guys that used to do so all are now paid good coin by Darryl Katz to tow the company line. You remember the question Lowe got asked where he flipped out and went all 6 rings crazy? The media member that asked had his media pass revoked; not invited to press conferences, doesn't get access to players, the head coach scrums or anything. Its pathetic really.
