well this fucking sucks
at least gabby got a cup dude deserves one
tbh i think id rather they got utterly curb stomped rather than leading for all but 40 mins and losing 4-1
oh well please blast richards into the sun.

Well won by the Kings. Lundqvist played pretty freaking well all playoffs, and the Rangers were probably the best team from the East. Deserving winners and a good bunch of guys.

I can think of another player while you're at it too.

Sucks the Rangers didn't win :/ They at least deserved to play a solid 7 games.
|
i totally wanted to watch another 2 games too
welp, it was fun following the season with you guys in this thread :d who's going to make the one for next season? XD

Williams was a good pick for the MVP. Kopitar had it in the bag, but he wasn't that great against the Rangers. Kopitar and Doughty carried the team through the earlier rounds, but even then, without clutch play from Williams and Carter, they wouldn't have been here either.
|
Nice to see the guy who deserved the Conn Smythe actually win it.
I'd like to explain why, in my opinion, Doughty does not deserve the award.
- His points per 60 minutes in 5-on-5 play is an unexceptional 0.97 — 10th best among defencemen in these playoffs - a very high 37.3% of his shifts have started in the offensive zone, - too many critical turn overs especially in the Chicago series.
Thanks to Joe Palensky for providing these #s and the offensive 5-on-5 #s for Williams.
I also asked Raynor his opinion and he said that if any skater deserved the award it had to be Williams.
With all this in mind I picked Williams over Doughty, Kopitar, Gaborik and Carter.

You sound like Damien Cox (I'm assuming he was the one who wrote that article in the Star the other day, but I do agree with the rational). Williams was solid throughout the playoffs and he's super clutch.
|
I liked both teams in the final this year, so I wasn't as disappointed to see one win. Felt super bad for Lundqvist, and was hoping for it to go back to NYC for the sake of having more sports to watch, but LA definitely deserved to win.
|
Lundqvist looked super good in the Finals. A shame that the Rangers couldn't capitalize on more opportunities for him, but I can never be disappointed with the Kings winning.
Sucks that now Carter/Richards have gotten their second cup before Philly could get one, but I'm happy for them. Both of them certainly deserve it from the way they play and what they bring to the table.

The numbers came from Joe Palensky
I picked Williams from direct observation and provided some of his #s to back up what I saw
regarding your "clutch" comment, you realize that according to advanced stats people, the concept of "clutch" does not exist

WTF? Nobody here cares about the game where everyone is over paid and the growing grass contributes most of the action in the game.
Clutch does exist. Try changing gear in a manual truck with out one. In many sports, clutch players always bring there Code S game to the table when the stakes are high. They up their game. 100's of example could be quoted.
