Toronto doesn't give young players much of a chance in the NHL so they send all of their 1st round picks to the AHL to get better then trade them. Eakins seems like he's being too nice. I feel like this team needs John Torterella. They need someone to force the issue. Scream at them for being stupid. Someone who will sit the team captain for being a non existent ghost. Something. Anything. Thing is Eakins system doesn't even work at the AHL level. He forced Todd Nelson to use it, and the exact same Barons squad that went to the finals last year is playing mediocre with his Swarm system. On November 13 2013 06:18 Orcasgt24 wrote: Uhhh WOW!!!! lmao You could make that gif for Yakupov 3-4 times a game. Thats actually crap. Yakupov is not lazy. Yakupov isn't the kind of guy that just quits on a play. Is Yak good defensively? no. But his issue is more that he is just lost in his own zone because he has literally never had to play there before in his life because he was always just so much better that he always had the puck on his stick in the offensive zone. Yakupov is the hardest working player I have ever seen. Ever since he has been drafted he has always been the first guy on the ice at training camp, practices, games, etc. he is the only guy that attends all of the Oilers optional skates. He has personally bag skated himself five times already this year when the rest of the team left, including the coaches he stayed on the ice and ran suicides by himself because he was disappointed in himself. Eakins has handled him terribly. At first I was on board, but you know what, he is just scapegoating the kid for no reason. He can make the simplest mistake that Hall, Hemsky, Eberle, and Hopkins have made twice a piece during the course of the game and get stapled to the bench for it. Its bull shit. Against the Hawks he scored a beautiful goal, made the game 2-1. Eakins responded by stapling him to the bench for the remaining 11 minutes of the second period. Absolute garbage. Any confidence Yak gained from that goal was instantly taken away because Eakins has this raging dislike for him.

Anyway, Sabers are the lolest team of them all. 3 frames in, 10 shots on goal against LA.

Having met all of Hall, Eberle, Hopkins and Yak, honeslty the best person of the four is Nail by far. RNH is a close second. Hall is a huuge asshole. Only time he is seen around town is at the bar, where he just is a prick to everyone. Dont egt me wrong, Hall is a damn good hockey player, but he has the most arrogant and entitled attitude i've ever seen. One time I saw a bartender charge him for his Vodka tonic and he flipped out. "Do you know who I am?" Ridiculous. Eberle is a good guy, unless he is with Hall, in which case he is Hall 2.0. RNH is just really quiet and introverted. Real down to earth. Yakupov is the nicest and most down to earth hockey player I have ever met since George Laraque. He is just happy and excited about everything. He talked to me and my GF for probably a solid 15 minutes just about how much he loved the city and hockey. I even said after about 5 minutes "Hey, you're probably a busy guy, I should let you go." and he just like laughed and said its no problem and he loves the fans. It was weird, he almost seemed disappointing when our conversation was done. Yaks the kind of guy that waits for every single kid to get an autograph before he leaves anywhere he goes. It honestly blows my mind the kind of character assassination that is going on in the media with this kid. Its mind bottling.

Edit: but what do i know... EDM is being a bottom feeder again this year and they should probably be giving Yak plenty of time on the ice to get him ready for NHL style hockey for when EDM actually has a decent year Yak will be a better player.

It honestly blows my mind the kind of character assassination that is going on in the media with this kid. Its mind bottling. Yakupov played poker at century casino alot last year. He's as big an egotistical jerk as Hall is in my experiance. Eberle is a nice guy so is RNH, I've dealt blackjack to them at palace. Dubnyk too, good guy. Whether your as asshole or a good guy isn't relevant though. Yakupov is absolutely clueless on his side of center. Seriously, he has no idea what he is doing and often doesn't even enter the zone. I remember a game last year where we were in our zone and Yakupov was circling center ice waiting for a breakaway pass. That's obviously an extreme example but watch and you'll see that he doesn't skate as hard towards the Oiler net as he does the other net. And when he is in our zone he doesn't cover anyone and sorta just hover near the point. He's a league worst -14. Cant blame all of that on Dubnyks terrible .876 S%/3.96 GAA. I looked up his give away's number and laughed my ass off. It's only 4 which is a gross misrepresentation of the stat. I guess they aren't counting all the times he turns it over while trying to win the 1 on 3 in the offensive zone or 1 on 2's. He's trying way way way to hard to do something when simple plays like dumping it in would be the way better choice. He should be stapled to the bench and given power play time. He doing nothing but making bad decisions 5 on 5 in every zone. Good for Yakupov if he's doing suicides and bag skating himself. Eakins should be doing that to everyone (himself included). He is doing a piss poor job of creating any kind of defensive structure, terrible job at teaching team defense and an awful job in general. Yes, I agree Yakupov shouldn't have been sat after scoring, and should be given a chance. Good play should be rewarded bad play punished. Never should have fired Kreugre. I seemed like he got through to the players, they listened to him.

And since no one on the Oilers is playing that particularly well they all could sit out while some AHLers get called up. Its not like the results will change. I could make the same post as this one on Yakupov for Hall, Eberle and Neugent-Hopkins. The difference is those guys are putting up points at a level just shy of 1 per game. Yakupov has 4 points. edit: I meant to edit my other post. oops edit2: Alot of what ails the Oilers, and Yakupov in particular could be fixed with a good coach who knows what he wants people to do, when to do it and can teach the how. Eakins doesn't seem to be able to do that. The potential of this team is not being brought out and might even be making them worse players since I am sure many bad habits are developing
