It's been brutal to watch. For years there was always the mentality that they could come back, but not at all this year, The announcers mentioned that the Flyers have not been down by more than one goal entering the 3rd period in 14 of 15 games. The only other game was the blowout in Washington. So they're definitely in games, and defensively are decent, but my god the offense is terrible right now.

Absolutely, worst record in the league. CHI won the lottery that year. But you didn't expect that much from a team with York, Calder, Dimitrakos, Sanderson et al. Gagne was good, Forsberg was injured, and the young guys were still fairly raw. We didn't expect them to be that bad, but still.

Brossoit was the goalie for the Oil Kings, pretty good for a CHL goalie but unproven at the pro level (playing in the ECHL right now) He could be good one day, or not. Horak was up and down from the AHL, fairly solid 2-way center who can play wing too. Likely tops out at 3/4th line though.

I'm a Flames fan, we're hurting on D so I see why we made this trade. For the Oil, I have no clue...other than to sign the head-case that is Bryz

I've seen Brossoit play a couple of times, he is superlative at the WHL level, pretty much in a class of his own. I went to 8 or 9 Oil Kings games over the last two season, and he straight-up fucking STOLE at least half of them. I'm actually rather pleased that he's in our system now but...

I dont even get why we traded Smid. Its not even a Bryz thing, we had enoguh capspace with all our injuries so far this year to sign Bryz at 3 milllion regardless. Horak is another small skill kid, basically Mark Arcobello light. Brassoit is good i guess, but he is years away from the NHL.

ugh.

We took a crappy hockey club and traded our best defenceman for nothing that helps the team right now. Congrats, we have an even worse hockey team!

MacT is too smart to just make a crappy trade... right? Right?

Look harder. Bryz on a one year deal suggests the Smid trade is a salary dump. Ference signing and KLefbom/Nurse in the system make Ladi expendable, but still obvious salary dump. I dont think theyre done. Rumor mill says Hemsky's locker has been cleaned out, alleged terms are Hemsky + picks for Wayne Simmonds and Luke Schenn... holy shit.

Again, obvious salary dump. As a stand-alone move, it makes no sense at all. Smid is a good fit on this team. But they didn't need the cap space to sign Bryz to a 1-year deal, so there's gotta be more coming

but i can just see it now... Bryz starts tomorrow vs Philly, lets in 5 goals on 12 shots and Oilers get shut out... "why you heff to be mad?"

I dont believe anything else coming. I'd rather be cynical; worse case scenario I right and thats a good ego boost. Best case scenario, I'm wrong... Fuck yeah we make another sweet trade.
