I think you misunderstood. In the original format, there was no opportunity for anyone to play someone from their pools until the Ro4.

I interrogated the bracket, and here's what it looks like:

So after looking at the brackets after the group stages had been played out, I noticed they were using a pretty standard format. Seed #1 from Group A plays Seed #2 from Group H. Seed #1 from Group B plays Seed #2 from Group G. Seed #1 from Group C plays Seed #2 from Group F. And so forth.

However after refreshing the brackets just now, it appears that they've been adjusted.

Actually, I feel like it did the opposite. In the old brackets, AZK was guaranteed a player in Ro8 and possibly a second AZK v. AZK match in that round to guarantee a top 4 finish for one of their players. They also had (in my opinion) a weaker bracket originally than now.

Yeah I dunno. As I said in the other thread, I could very well be wrong. They spread some of their players out, but it doesn't seem like they really have an easier time. But either way, tampering with the brackets after they've been published requires some sort of explanation.

It could be anything from an honest mix-up with bracket placements (after what happened in IEM NY it's definitely possible) to AZK trying their hardest to make the rest of the tournament seem as legit as possible.

Edit: As hard as it is to believe anything about this tournament other than the actual play is legit at this point, we can't just immediately dismiss any mistakes (especially ones like this that are _fixed_) as being part of the terrible actions AZK has taken so far. At some point in the future we may get a full accounting of what happened (both the legitimate and illegitimate), but for now let's just see how it all plays out.

I'm told by someone live at the event that the brackets were re-generated from scratch for some reason, and names were pulled from a hat. So yeah, mystery solved in that regard.

What that tells me is that there was some decision (either by Gus himself, the casters, IPL or the players as a whole) asked for a re-bracketing so that it would be _definite_ that the placement was impartial.

Edit: As a little aside that might just add to the clustershiftiness that is AZK, LiviBee and Cheekyduck both recently joined Team AZK. That proves to me that Gus did everything in his power to turn this IPL4 Qualifier into an AZK Invitational Tournament.

Ok i just read the Whole Blog; Dox i feel really bad for you that you had to Put up with this. So are AZK (Guys) Etc The guys that IGN/IPL Contracted to run this Tournament?

Kinda of Conflict of Interests right? From what i've read so far Gus seems like a Shady Scam-Artist/Con-Artist Stealing money from Tournaments and Maybe he possibly stole the Money from the PPSL/IPL4 Australia South-East Asia Qualifier Tournament Thing?

I can confirm that he fights dirty. I have seen him watching matchups between his clanmate and some other guy and he would tell his clanmate what the other guy is doing just so Gus can win. He cheats. It's a fact and I'm sorry that a lot of people got dragged into this.

Gus is just way over in his head and more concerned about putting himself out there rather than promoting e-sports. It's all about him and it blew in his face.

and not only that Possible Match Fixing? Maybe not just Match Fixing maybe they are cheating like in this quote from that anonymous person sent you maybe they are relaying messages to players while they are playing to give them an advantage.

Gus is also trying to Steal Players by Giving MoonGlade a Spot on The Plane when When the one Player couldn't go because of University.

Ok i see what happened now he tried to Steal MoonGlade to his Team and give him a Spot to go instead of YJY Who had rightfully earned the Spot..

Gus tried to get Moonglade on AZK by bribing him with a spot in the IPL4 Qualifiers, as well as a free flight on the condition that he join AZK for 3 months. He used the excuse that "we only had to provide transportation for the 1st and 2nd place players" so they didn't need to bring YJY, which is yet another piece of underhanded brilliance by the scumbag Gus.

I hope this Gus Guy never gets to Run an Event again; from what i've read from your Blog Dox seems like Gus is Pilfering money from the Tournament.

Bribing/Match/Cheating Fixing as Well Possibly.

Members from Cube, a clan from the southern part of the Philippines, also experienced the same situation as YJY's. http://www.sc2sea.com/showpost.php?p=44590&postcount=35

But who was in Charge of doing this. Gus?

At this point it doesn't matter if it was Gus, Alex from IPL, Tastosis, the players, or the crowd threatening them at gunpoint. The re-bracketing is at least impartial, if maybe a little unfair.

It is truly a shame that this blissful opportunity to bring SEA to the world stage has tragically suffered at the hands of irresponsible egotists.

Dox, you have shown to be an honest and hardworking gentlemen and I wish you all the best in the future. Do not lose hope for the future of Australian esports.

I know i still appreciate and respect SEA sc2 community. I just know which one not to follow now! Although AZK did misrepresent SEA, personally, it just showed me who is good and who is bad.

As a SEA player, I feel extremely embarrassed by this. This is definitely not the standard that the SEA scene should, and could, display.

So team AZK hosted two Australian events and the winners would get invites to IPL4? And this ended up with huge sponsors like IGN behind it before it collapsed? Is there anything else or did I get it now?
Was it an offline even? I read something about the Philipines?

Not quite. AZK was getting into contact with Dox (in Australia) about sending a player to the PPSL (Philippino Pro SC2 League) tournament; eventually the PPSL turned into the IPL4 Pacific Qualifier, and Dox's tourney would be the Australian qualifier for the IPL Qualifier (like qualifier inception).

The sketchiness started when Gus agreed (and signed a contract) to bring the 1st and 2nd place finishers to the IPL Qualifier but tried to cheat YoonJY out of a spot by offering to bring MoonGlade over instead (Moonglade refused Gus's bribe). There were other "qualifiers" held to fill other spots in the IPL Qualifier, but one of them wasn't even announced to the public.

Everything that has happened has just seemed really sketchy.

Ah so it was an Australian online event to send 2 Australian playrers to PPSL, the IPL4 Pacific qualifier? The big names were real though?

There really ought to be some legal action. I mean, if esports in general is to become legitimate, this sort of behavior needs to be squashed now and precedents set. Create legal ramifications for those who cut corners and take advantage of both corporate and community members. Make an example of this guy. At least something productive would come out of this with some kind of legal precedent in place for future "Gus"-es who want to make a quick buck at the expense of the hard work and investments of those around them.

IGN, S2, Dox, anyone involved, should pool info and lock it up.
