Okay so everyone loves to bash Idra for being BM and I'll be honest I've done it because sometimes what he says is just damn hilarious. But what I want to know is why is this acceptable I've seen posts that are anti Idra that if they were to change the name from Idra to Nony for instance they'd probably get a temp ban.
Don't get me wrong I've seen Nony do some pretty bad BM it's not as common but it happens what happened that made Idra the acceptable target but other foreigners are still out of bounds. It's really been bothering me recently the double standard of "Don't talk like that about foreigner X" while people are free to namecall Idra all they want. I mean the guy is living in the CJ house he's a good player if he wasn't he wouldn't be there.
I'm pretty sure that if you surfed through the replay packs for the TSL you could find some really funny BMs by other players in the TSL. I've already found several instances that had me rolling in my chair so why is it not okay to go and bash these players but we can Idra?

I think everyone got used to the extensive Idra-bashing (which in many cases was actually deserved). I don't know if it's actually a double standard, but the increased tolerance to Idra-bashing is because he created a notoriety around his name, and people come to expect the shit-talk.
I don't think it's a double standard since Idra seems the only exception

IdrA is a flamboyantly abrasive character who handles losses terribly. he gets flamed because everytime he is asked anything about anyone he says the most negative thing he can think of while trying to be "funny."

I've only watched White-ra's replays and I can honestly say that he is the most GM player EVER... Not once did I see him BM someone even when he got cheesed.

Idra doesn't make much of an attempt to be diplomatic or nice online in addition to his spurts of bm so it becomes ok to make fun of him or joke around for the bm stuff he does.

To me he always seemed like a nice enough person in video interviews. I like him but it's a little bit annoying how he's always bashing europeans when typically the europeans cheer him on while americans tend to flame him. Oh well.

I know this thread was specifically about Idra, but speaking generally for a moment, I think people here get way to upset about others, well-known or otherwise, being bad manner in ladder or regular old games.
I can understand people not wanting this in their tournaments and wanting it to be kept professional (which is absolutely should) but seriously, someone bad mannered you in the goddamn ladder. Who cares? It's either end up being hilarious or you're just like whatever and start your next game.

I agree with incontrol, When I met him at blizzcon I got the feeling that he's a sincerely nice person and he was quite humble too. However his competitive side gets the best of him and he gets flamed for it.

It's the stuff like IdrA says that adds flair to any sport. It's the same thing that made FBH such a popular player, he was outrageous enough to inspire emotion in the fans. If everyone was perfectly mannered all the time sports would be boring as hell.

I was asking why, people have provided some decent answers/explanations I'm not trying to "get a rise" out of people I'm honestly interested in what causes it beyond just the fact that he does it so often. If that's the only reason so be it but as I stated early I'm a little ambivalent on the issue I find it amusing but at the same time am unsure on if I should feel bad about finding it funny.

well yeah besides being bm alot of the time, he's also a really good player, and among the most famous as far as foreigners go right now so everything he does is under a microscope. Even though he does bm alot, none of it ever goes unnoticed.
So it's far more fun to be rude back to someone if they're famous for being rude, and not just some snobby nobody.

In this community (TL players anyway not necessarily starcraft as a whole[ dang easties]) manner is taken in to account. When all the thousands of people that use this site watch vods and live games and korean e-sports and even the user live streams, they see the overall good manner of such players as white-ra and nony.
Nobody bm's as much as idra. I've watched shitloads of vods and livestreams and most people are pretty mannered. Yea theres the chance that someone gets pissed and ragequits or talks some shit befoe they leave, hey I've done it, we all have.
BUT idra is in the eye of the public and he has a huge complex (which he is totally allowed to have imo, he worked hard to get to where he is) and when someone in the public eye acts the way he does, it obviously gets noticed and over time thats what he has become known for. Its almost as if we watch idra EXPECTING a drawn out macro game or BM at the end of a cheese.
So really unless he changes the way he plays and treats other gamers with a bit more respect people wont stop flaming him for it. If he was anybody else, noone would care. But because he lives in korea and plays this game for a living, what he does while playing effects what people think of him.
Honestly I think its funny, I dont look down on him for it. Its entertaining to me. Ya sometimes I think its ridiculous and cheese is part of the game just say GG and bounce... On the other end, I ragequit too lol.

You're obviously wrong. T cheese is ALOT safer than Z cheese in TvZ and a bit safer in TvP than P cheese.
Compare common TvZ cheeses:
4 pool vs. 8 rax bunker rush. If bunker rush fails, just cancel bunker / retreat marines. You are even because he had to pull drones to block your cheese and you probably got to kill at least 1 drone. 4 pool neglects making workers and totally takes a shit on your economy where u cannot recover period
Note that these cheeses are NOT happening at the same time in the same game.
Common TvP cheeses:
2 Fact vs. DT rush
With good micro, even if 2 Fact gets blocked, you've probably done a lot of damage and laid mines all over his natural where it delays his expo. Your economy might be not so good but its still decent cuz u didn't cut scv production. You also have a 2nd production building even if it failed.
DT Rush
Basically Protoss is suppose to get Observer / Robo Tech first for obvious reasons but went to Archives early. This means his obs is delayed and any good Terran will not let this opportunity pass by. Vulture / mine harrass will do heavy damage to the Protoss, and even if it didn't, it will buy you a lot of time to secure expos because his Obs is heavily delayed. Not to mention that T will probably already have CC up while Protoss is still on 1 base, which makes it heavily disadvantaged economically
You called Terran units fragile? Lol since when was Metal army ever fragile with those ridiculous upgrades? When were marines who had 40 health but could take in 300+ damage because of healing medics ever fragile? Hell, your workers even have 20 extra health for no damn reason which helps tremendously starting mid-game
Even if your natural is blocked by enemy units and you placed ur units on ramp because you're behind and playing defensively, Terran is the only race where you can expand during that time because your expanding building has the ability to lift. Thank god they removed that feature in SC2

DT Rush Basically Protoss is suppose to get Observer / Robo Tech first for obvious reasons but went to Archives early. This means his obs is delayed and any good Terran will not let this opportunity pass by. Vulture / mine harrass will do heavy damage to the Protoss, and even if it didn't, it will buy you a lot of time to secure expos because his Obs is heavily delayed. Not to mention that T will probably already have CC up while Protoss is still on 1 base, which makes it heavily disadvantaged economically You called Terran units fragile? Lol since when was Metal army ever fragile with those ridiculous upgrades? When were marines who had 40 health but could take in 300+ damage because of healing medics ever fragile? Hell, your workers even have 20 extra health for no damn reason which helps tremendously starting mid-game Even if your natural is blocked by enemy units and you placed ur units on ramp because you're behind and playing defensively, Terran is the only race where you can expand during that time because your expanding building has the ability to lift. Thank god they removed that feature in SC2

OK, I understand that Azure was taking things too far but there are terran fans who constantly complain and make threads alleging imbalance against terrans. If fact threads in which terrans whine are by far the most common: 'Why aren't there more terrans outside of the pro scene?', 'Why do terrans lose?' etc etc. These threads may be disguised as questions but it's pretty obvious what the intent is. I've noticed these sort of thread seem to get a lot more leeway around here.
Shouldn't some of these people be banned as well? I hate to say it but sometimes I really think TL has a terran bias going on.

There's a difference between players raging at a bad day on iCCup and someone who rages every day on every thread about the same thing with the same debunked arguments and harassing people through PMs because they called him an idiot for all the right reasons.
