Weekly Events & Content
The fighting game community is global, and almost every region is represented by a weekly local tournament or event. These events are usually held in arcades, exist mostly for bragging rights, and usually attract a group of strong regulars from the local scene. The idea is to promote the Street Fighter scene and to shed light on players you don't always see in major tournaments, as well as up-and-coming talent. The streams are high quality and the commentators are pretty chill, so they're usually worth watching to tide you over between major tournaments.
Every now and then, the venues will host some more serious fare: Tournaments where the winner gets a sponsored trip to Evolution, events where winners receive seeding for some upcoming tournaments, or even some minor prize pools. Still, most of the time it's a much more intimate affair.

Capcom Cup 2015
December 5, 2015
The Capcom Pro Tour is concluding this weekend with the Capcom Cup Finals on Sunday! Be sure to read the giant tournament info header at the top of the page if you somehow missed it. This is the big one.
+ Show Spoiler [Old news] +
FFM Rumble 8 has concluded, and with it a day of upsets. From the very start, things got weird when Emersion - one of the best Vega players in Europe - was knocked out by Cody player Sheva. Shortly thereafter, StarNab knocked Pro Fluke into loser's bracket, preventing him from showing off on stream until later. Pro Fluke certainly found his groove in loser's bracket, however, where he knocked the best Sagat player on the planet, Bonchan, out of the tournament with a clean 2-0 victory. Meanwhile, EBI was knocked into loser's by Dark Jiewa, and then lost to Valmaster, just shy of the top 8.
The runaway hero of the tournament was undoubtedly Infexious, a Hugo main who went on a rampage. He beat Halibel, Pro Fluke, and Packz in the top 32 bracket to make it into the top 8 alongside players like Tokido, Luffy, Valmaster, Poongko, and Dark Jiewa. Once there, he apparently decided that Sagat and Akuma aren't awful match-ups for Hugo, and promptly bodied Sagat player Demulant, and then clinched out a fantastic game against Tokido, master level Akuma player and one of the favorites to win the whole event. Unfortunately, Infexious couldn't deal with Poongko's Seth play, who ended up going to the grand finals against Luffy.
Poongko also took his shirt off on several occasions. It didn't work.
Current Evolution 2014 champion Luffy ended up beating Poongko 3-2 in the finals, looking incredibly strong as he did so. Luffy denied the bracket reset and won his third tournament of the year.

NuckleDu wins Combo Breaker 2015!
TeamLiquid needs to get off their butts and promote this guy already

Not bad for a guy who prior to the tournament was actually hit by a car.
Congratulations to Du, it was great watching him take down both EG Justin Wong and EG Ricki Ortiz. ♥ I'll probably do some kind of write-up on his run at CB unless TeamLiquid wants to use someone who is actually a writer.

Texas Showdown concludes with a nail-biting grand finals between Infiltration and Snake Eyez
May 11, 2015
***
Texas Showdown has concluded, closing the doors on a weekend full of solid games. Favorites like Justin Wong, K-Brad, Snake Eyez, Infiltration, NuckleDu, and recently-on-fire 801 Strider showed up to square off in the US Midwest.
Day one of pool play was straightforward, with almost all top seeded players getting out as expected. Unfortunately, Liquid`NuckleDu was hit by a car and promptly decided that playing Akuma would be a really keen idea. He ended up dropping a game in pool play, getting placed into the losers bracket of the top 32, and then losing to Air off-stream.
The rest of the pools went as expected -- Infiltration, Justin Wong, K-Brad, Ricky Ortiz, Snake Eyez, Chris G, 801 Strider, Hsien Chang, MLSwear, El Cubano Loco, Tampa Bison, Air, and Hamad all finished winners side of their pools and ended up having some highly entertaining games in the top 32 brackets.
As the first day of Street Fighter wrapped up, PandaxGaming hosted Battle in the Pandagon, a series of First To Five showmatches where some fan favorites were clashing for fun.
And then Hamad came out for his showmatch to the tune of "A Whole New World" from Aladdin, riding on Brolylegs' custom motorized platform.
Hamad, who previously rose to fame by beating Justin Wong in a FT5, squared off against Justin in the runback of the evening. Justin clutched out a close set, coming down to the final game.
Day 2 of Street Fighter had few surprises but great games. Chris G knocked Justin into loser's bracket, K-Brad popped off against Snake Eyez, and Ricky Ortiz had her Rufus on standby as she was trying to make it with Rolento and Chun-Li, although she unfortunately couldn't take down Infiltration and Snake Eyez, the two players who would go on to face off in the grand finals.
801 Strider had another great tournament, shocking the world by having James Chen carefully explain to the audience that Abel is even better as a character if you are capable of playing footsies.
And lastly, there was Infiltration who - playing all 44 characters in the game plus two he invented on the spot - cruised into the grand finals on the winner's side, dropping very few games as he did so. He brought out Elena, Ken, Rolento, Akuma, Ryu, and Chun-Li across various matchups.
The grand finals ended up being against "Mr. OVERRATED" himself Snake Eyez, who (coming off super strong games against K-"Snake-Eyez-Is-Overrated"-Brad, 801 Strider, and Ricky) proceeded to destroy Infiltration's Akuma and Ryu, resetting the bracket from losers and even going up 2-1 in the final set. Unfortunately, Infiltration is South Korean and therefore broken, so when Infiltration switched to Rolento (a character Ricky had attempted to use against Snake Eyez and lost 3-0 with) he proceeded to clutch out round after round.
Eventually, the grand finals came down to the absolute final round of the final game. The game was super tense, with the timer slowly ticking away to zero and both players exchanging the life lead several times. Snake Eyez played brilliantly, and finally everything looked lost for Infiltration... when, with four seconds left on the clock and a life lead for Snake Eyez, he found a magical throw out of a perfectly spaced Rolento slide which barely got him the life lead. And thus, with a backdash and an Ultra timer scam, Infiltration is your Texas Showdown 2015 champion.
Results:
1. INFILTRATION (Ryu, Elena, Ken, Chun-Li, Akuma, Rolento)
2. Snakes Eyez (Zangief)
3. EG|K-Brad (Cammy, Chun-Li)
4. 801 Strider (Abel)
5. Tempo|ChrisG (Sakura)
5. EG|HelloKittyRicki (Rolento, Rufus,Chun-Li)
7. Magneto1080P (Elena)
7. Hsien (Yun)
9. DL|Four Wude (Akuma)
9. CCG|Air (Poison)
9. VGP|Integra (Ken)
9. EG|JWong (Elena)
13. Epic L.GG|Onisan (Abel)
13. Liquid|NuckleDu (Guile)
13. VGP|cHaotix (Dudley)
13. HaMAGO (WTHamad) (Fei Long)
In short, Texas Showdown was fun, and you should watch it.

1.05 patch is live, and Steam rolls its netcode changes into the main client
Literally the only thing that changed was a nerf to my character PJSalt
April 22, 2015
***
The USF4 "1.05" patch hit, and with it came very little. The only change to gameplay was a nerf to Decapre:
USFIV Edition Changes:
DECAPRE
Must charge downback to activate the anti-air version of DCM.
Previously, Decapre could launch into the anti-air version of Ultra 2 (DCM) much more easily as it only required charging back, not down+back. This is a definite nerf as DCM AA was one of the few good AA options for a Decapre on the move.
The rest of the patch - with the exception of some minor bugfixes - focused entirely on Omega mode, removing a few infinites and rebalancing it somewhat. I wonder if there will ever be another balance patch, or if Capcom will continue to hate Dee Jay until the sun flares out and turns as cold as a rock.

The new netcode changes that dramatically fixed netplay on PC (see "Old news", below) are out of beta and have been rolled into the main Steam client. For the most part, PC connectivity is incredibly stable now, and with it came all the players who gave up on PC netplay when the problems started almost a year ago.
Currently the PC scene is very healthy both in the US and Europe, netplay is as good as ever, the Capcom Pro Tour has an unprecedented amount of money to throw at its champions, and it's a damn good time to be a Street Fighter fan.
Steam has fixed netplay issues on PC!
Opt-in to the Steam beta client to reap the rewards of the updated netplay API
April 1, 2015 [No, this is not an April Fools joke -- reddit thread on this topic]
Ever since May of last year, Street Fighter on PC has been pretty miserable. Frame stops, freezing, disconnects, and all kinds of latency problems almost killed the USF4 scene on PC. This was a result of migrating the game away from Games For Windows Live. Granted, GFWL was a titanic piece of shit whose demise was long overdue, but this forced Capcom to move over to Steam's API for peer-to-peer play.
This did not work out too well.
Turns out the netcode was not set up properly on Capcom's side to work with Steam's API. The problem was a combination of the Steam matchmaking system causing long blocks on the process thread that handled it, and Capcom letting the main game thread handle the matchmaking. Capcom could have solved it by putting the matchmaking in a separate thread, but reworking the system would supposedly have been a major hassle. Capcom made a few tweaks to try and improve things, but it never actually helped.
However, an employee at Valve recently took a look at it, and basically put together a quick fix on their side of things done specifically for USF4.
It worked. Netplay is now as good on PC as it was back in the AE 2012 days, meaning it's the best netplay you are likely to get across all platforms and versions of the game. The PC version is the ultimate version of the game in all but player count right now, but hopefully the player count will rise a bit once word gets out that the netplay has been fixed.
Currently the changes are only in the Steam beta client, and you will only notice a difference if both you and your opponent are using the latest Steam beta. Click below to see how to opt in to the Steam beta program -- it's fast and updates are automatic once you've done it.

Optimal settings on PC
Playing on PC has a lot of advantages. USF4 on PC is generally considered the best edition of the game because of the ability to tweak for very low input lag, and for its very strong netcode. The only thing Xbox 360 has over PC is in player count, but PC still has plenty.
The default graphical options of USF4 on PC are not good, however. In particular, VSync and Framerate are set incorrectly. Take a few minutes to set things up properly -- your game will feel much better for it. Click below for details.
+ Show Spoiler [Click to collapse/expand] +
If you play on PC, chances are you already know how to optimize your game for low input lag and high framerate. DisplayLag took a closer look and the numbers are interesting:
http://www.displaylag.com/reduce-input-lag-in-pc-games-the-definitive-guide/
The absolute best settings:
* Ingame VSync: OFF
* Framerate: FIXED
* Antialiasing: NONE
The in-game VSync feature adds up to 3 frames worth of input lag all by itself, meaning it nearly doubles (going from 3.5 to 6.2). This is the biggest culprit and the one you should turn off immediately. Framerate should be set to fixed, as setting it to smooth can introduce actual glitches. No, I don't mean graphical glitches, I mean "characters may fall out of ultras randomly".
If you have a graphics card and monitor capable of G-SYNC or FreeSync, you can enable that instead of VSync. It's just a better version that doesn't affect input lag in the same way VSync does. In Nvidia's case you get almost no difference, and if you have an AMD card and a monitor capable of FreeSync, it's actually beneficial to turn it on (3.5 with FreeSync vs 3.7 with VSync off).
If you don't have G-SYNC or FreeSync but hate screen tearing with a passion and you want VSync enabled, the guide will tell you how to minimize the increased input lag. It depends on your graphics card and setup, whether you run it in windowed mode, etc.

The absolute best settings:
* Ingame VSync: OFF
* Framerate: FIXED
* Antialiasing: NONE
Ultra Street Fighter 4 is super easy to pick up and play, and simultaneously incredibly deep with tons of advanced tactics, strategies, and mind games. It's easy to feel overwhelmed by the amount of existing content (not to mention the 613 and counting pages of this very thread), but finding new knowledge that is appropriate to your skill level has never been easier.

Footsies as explained by Juicebox. A great introduction to arguably the most important part of playing Street Fighter IV at a high level. This will get you to think about what you're doing. In StarCraft 2 terms, this is like "keep making probes, keep making pylons" in that it will let you run over opponents that don't, but it takes a lot of practice to do well. This right here is why Daigo is better than you.
There is also an article on footsies that you should read. The post includes animated .gifs of the techniques in question and makes it very easy to understand what we're talking about.
http://www.standingfierce.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1310&p=45868
For people who play a character that has a projectile, this quick (6 minute) projectile and zoning tutorial will show you how to force your opponent to play a more cautious footsie game with you. Don't forget that your projectile is also a poke.
This is a guide for Ryu made by top player Air. It's an advanced guide in that it assumes you know the basics of play. Mostly covers character-specific tactics and obscure tricks that can be used, but the techniques it teaches are relevant to all characters, and it is a must-see if you are serious about taking Street Fighter to the next level.

Infiltration
Stream: http://www.twitch.tv/infiltration85
Infiltration is considered the best player in the world on some days, and top 3 every other day – a product of him being South Korean and therefore completely insane with his practice regiment. His streak of Akuma dominance was marked by victory after victory at every major qualifier and tournament he attended. Between games, he always appeared focused and serious, always checking his extensive player notes on his phone.
On his stream, we see just how much of that personae is a lie. There he will repeatedly apologise to his opponents for hitting them, invoke the names of other famous players in the FGC in the hope that their names alone will make himself able to play their respective characters better, and whisper enthusiastically under his breath about how he's going to stalk and murder other FGC members who happen to be playing online at the time. He is my favourite streamer right now – not just for Street Fighter, but period. There is no contest. You need to follow this man, for he is incredibly silly, engrish, and completely adorable. If only he would stream more.
NuckleDu
Stream: http://www.twitch.tv/nuckledu
Our very own Liquid NuckleDu plays Guile and Decapre, except on his stream where he plays every other character except the ones we want to watch him play. He also recently upgraded - and I use that word quite wrongly - from bad rap to Linkin Park--which is progress of a sort.
Smug
Stream: http://www.twitch.tv/teampienyc
PIE Smug occasionally takes a break from being a thug lyfe gangsta livin' on the street to play video toys on the internet. Unquestionably the best Dudley player on the planet joins forces with unquestionably the worst rap music money can buy.
Arturo Sanchez / NYC Furby / TS Sabin
Stream: http://www.twitch.tv/nycfurby
Has been practising hardcore lately for the Capcom Pro Tour, and performed incredibly admirably at Final Round 18, one of the most stacked tournaments of 2015 so far. An amazing Dhalsim player who regularly makes absolute magic happen (until the round of 8).
PR Balrog
Stream: http://www.twitch.tv/pr_balrog
Old school player and regular top contender, Eduardo seems to go to every big tournament in the US. Plays Balrog when he's awesome and Evil Ryu when he's salty.
Snake Eyez
Stream: http://www.twitch.tv/snake_eyez_
Snake Eyez is a world class Zangief player who has been streaming a ton lately. You are likely to get a stream from him every week. Consistently wins big tournaments that don't matter.
Gamerbee
Stream: http://www.twitch.tv/gamerbee
World class Adon player. He doesn't stream all that often, and when he does his stream sound is probably echoing and/or peaking. In other words – it's FGC.

Liquid NuckleDu
In January of 2015, Curse merged with TeamLiquid, and as a result they acquired NuckleDu. NuckleDu has been around in the Street Fighter scene for a while now, initially becoming known for his more aggressive Guile play. Recently, he has acquired a scary, rushdown-heavy Decapre.
NuckleDu has been attending most of the major tournaments in the US over the past couple of years, and this year he won APEX 2015 using a mix of Guile and Decapre – an impressive feat considering APEX is a Super Smash Bros. tournament and those characters aren't even in that game.
He also streams now, which will be a good thing once he learns not to breathe into the microphone.

SEAM 2015
South East Asia Majors is an absolutely massive fighting game tournament held in Bangkok, Thailand. It features players from all over South-East Asia, and is ramping up to be the most stacked tournament of the year so far. Players will be awarded with Capcom Pro Tour points and winners will receive a big prize pool. This is one of the year's biggest events.
Too bad they're playing on the fucking Playstation 3. This happened because they were supposed to play on the recently released PS4 version, but that version of the game is a complete broken mess and they had to scramble to find replacement consoles. Bad form by Capcom and Sony to plan the biggest tournament in South East Asia around an untested version in the first place. I guess they wanted that Sony money so badly.
Apart from that stupid fucking asinine idiot move, this is going to be a sick tournament.
The event officially opens on the 19th with UMVC3 and Persona, but the headlining event is Ultra Street Fighter 4 which will run on its own stream - http://www.twitch.tv/capcomfighters - alongside the other games in the tournament. The USF4 portion of SEAM 2015 begins Saturday the 20th of June, 2015, at 14:00 ICT, and concludes the following Sunday.
Notable entrants:
Matsuri (strong Japanese Chun-Li main)
RB (a very strong Hugo and Rolento player)
Dashio (the "other Seth player")
Leslie (another strong Sagat main)
BigBird (a very solid Guy player)
Reiketsu (a great Vega/Claw player)
Sabo Hani (an online C. Viper monster)
Kawaguchi (a Japanese Rose player; don't see many of those)
Furikuri (fairly notable Rufus)
KOK (solid up and coming Evil Ryu player)
Pool play:
[Pool 1] Poongko, Kindevu
[Pool 2] Xiaohai, Itabashi Zangief
[Pool 3] Pugera, Dogura
[Pool 4] Kazunoko, Misse, Matsuri, KOK
[Pool 5] Fuudo, Shiro
[Pool 6] Tonpy, RB, Daigo (8th seed lol)
[Pool 7] Santarouman, "FGC bean"?
[Pool 8] Xian, MASCOT?
[Pool 9] Mago, Dakou
[Pool 10] Tokido, Human Bomb
[Pool 11] Gackt, Kuramoti?
[Pool 12] Kichi, Gachikun
[Pool 13] INFILTRATION, Eita, Reiketsu
[Pool 14] Nemo, Dark Jiewa, GamerBee
[Pool 15] Bonchan, Kim1234, Big Bird
[Pool 16] Momochi, Sabo Hani, Kawaguchi
Predictions:
- Kazunoko and Misse will make it out of pool 4, but Matsuri will probably make a fight of it.
- Tonpy and Daigo will make it out of pool 6, and RB will probably not make much of a fight of it.
- In pool 7, "FGC bean" from Japan is 1st seed. SUC.Tomy and fhqwhgads are seeds 3 and 4. I have no idea.
- INFILTRATION and Eita for pool 13. Reiketsu is a really fun Claw player, but I'm afraid Eita will beat him.
- Poor Dark Jiewa. Dude can't catch a tournament break. Nemo and GamerBee will pee on him in pool 14.
- Bonchan and Kim1234 for pool 15. Hope we catch some of Big Bird's Guy games before he goes out.
- Pool 16 is weird. Momochi obviously takes it, but Sabo Hani (C. Viper) and Kawaguchi (Rose) will fight it out.
Pool play is Saturday and top 32 is on Sunday. Top 32 will be stacked as shiiiiiiiiii

- Momochi, an incredible Ken player who is on a "best in the world" level streak of complete dominance
- Infiltration, Evo champion, best player in the world most days and top 5 any other. God tier with many characters
- Xian, Evolution 2013 champion and uncontested best Gen player in the world
- Tokido, a godlike Akuma player, called "Murderface" for his on-stage presence
- EX Pugera, the best and most exciting (and excitable) Ibuki player on the planet
- Dark Jiewa, strong Ken player always brushing up against tournament results but never quite getting intimate
- Misse, world class Makoto player who - unlike Haitani - actually likes playing Makoto
- Poongko, top 10 in the world and without a doubt the best Seth player to have ever walked the earth
- Bonchan, perennial runner-up and best Sagat player in the world
- Kazunoko, top 10 player in the world and best Yun player on the planet
- Mago, the best Yang player on the planet who just keeps getting better
- Fuudo is part of the Holy Trinity of Fei Long players, and is a super strong contender in any tournament
- GamerBee, Taiwanese player who plays a phenomenal Adon
- Tonpy, the best C. Viper player in Japan and possibly on the planet
- Gackt, part of the Holy Trinity of Fei Long players, less traveled than Fuudo but always a contender
- XiaoHai, amazingly impressive Cammy player who also plays a perfect Sagat counter-pick
- Itabashi Zangief, an amazing Japanese Zangief player who is a constant threat to Snake Eyez' throne
- Kim1234, arguably the best current Bison (Dictator) player in Japan and maybe the world
- HumanBomb, a strong Sakura player not quite at the level of in-his-prime Chris G
- Shiro, world class Abel player who has inspired a new generation of Abel players
- Santarouman, a Japanese player who mains Sagat and has many scary counterpicks
- Dogura, former #1 Bison (Dictator) in Japan, and now a mean Rolento player
- Eita, a solid up-and-coming Akuma player
- Kindevu, epic tier whore who defies highlight videos, so click on this YouTube search instead
- Gachi-Kun, the "other best Sagat player" in Japan next to Bonchan
- Dakou, the man who OCVd an entire team of high level players... with Dee Jay
Matsuri (strong Japanese Chun-Li main)
RB (a very strong Hugo and Rolento player)
Dashio (the "other Seth player")
Leslie (another strong Sagat main)
BigBird (a very solid Guy player)
Reiketsu (a great Vega/Claw player)
Sabo Hani (an online C. Viper monster)
Kawaguchi (a Japanese Rose player; don't see many of those)
Furikuri (fairly notable Rufus)
KOK (solid up and coming Evil Ryu player)
Pool play:
[Pool 1] Poongko, Kindevu
[Pool 2] Xiaohai, Itabashi Zangief
[Pool 3] Pugera, Dogura
[Pool 4] Kazunoko, Misse, Matsuri, KOK
[Pool 5] Fuudo, Shiro
[Pool 6] Tonpy, RB, Daigo (8th seed lol)
[Pool 7] Santarouman, "FGC bean"?
[Pool 8] Xian, MASCOT?
[Pool 9] Mago, Dakou
[Pool 10] Tokido, Human Bomb
[Pool 11] Gackt, Kuramoti?
[Pool 12] Kichi, Gachikun
[Pool 13] INFILTRATION, Eita, Reiketsu
[Pool 14] Nemo, Dark Jiewa, GamerBee
[Pool 15] Bonchan, Kim1234, Big Bird
[Pool 16] Momochi, Sabo Hani, Kawaguchi
Predictions:
- Kazunoko and Misse will make it out of pool 4, but Matsuri will probably make a fight of it.
- Tonpy and Daigo will make it out of pool 6, and RB will probably not make much of a fight of it.
- In pool 7, "FGC bean" from Japan is 1st seed. SUC.Tomy and fhqwhgads are seeds 3 and 4. I have no idea.
- INFILTRATION and Eita for pool 13. Reiketsu is a really fun Claw player, but I'm afraid Eita will beat him.
- Poor Dark Jiewa. Dude can't catch a tournament break. Nemo and GamerBee will pee on him in pool 14.
- Bonchan and Kim1234 for pool 15. Hope we catch some of Big Bird's Guy games before he goes out.
- Pool 16 is weird. Momochi obviously takes it, but Sabo Hani (C. Viper) and Kawaguchi (Rose) will fight it out.
Pool play is Saturday and top 32 is on Sunday. Top 32 will be stacked as shiiiiiiiiii

East Coast Throwdown
East Coast Throwdown is a fairly long-running event held every year in New Jersey. It's a sizable tournament that usually features some excellent talent from across the US. Last year it was part of the Capcom Pro Tour, and offered seeding points to players of Ultra Street Fighter IV. Unfortunately, they did a bracket float to prevent Justin Wong and Ricki Ortiz from playing in the second round, and as a result they were penalized by Capcom.
This year they are not part of the Capcom Pro Tour, and they are headlining Mortal Kombat X instead of USF4, but the talent pool is still strong for USF4. There should be some fun games throughout the weekend.
This event starts Saturday the 13th of June, 2015, at 18:00 EDT, and concludes the following Sunday.

Stunfest 2015
Stunfest is an annual fighting game tournament in Rennes, France. It is an absolutely massive weekend event featuring tons of different games and video game content, and with 346 entrants and counting for Ultra Street Fighter IV alone it is also one of the most hype - and most stacked - events of the year. Players from Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and all over Europe come to take on France's best players on their home turf... and last year, France won.
This year, we have an amazing selection of players coming to battle it out. Defending the home turf are French players like Alioune [update: not attending], Cuongster, Valmaster, recent YouTube superstar xOver, and the previous Stunfest and Evolution champion Luffy. From the United Kingdom, players like RMZ, Ryan Hart, and Pro Fluke. From South East Asia are dominating superstars Infiltration, Poongko, GamerBee, and Xian. And last and the opposite of least, we have almost every killer from Japan: Momochi, Kazunoko, Tokido, Bonchan, EBI, RF, Santauroman, Eita, and the best player of all time Daigo Umehara.
1st Place: $ 7,000
2nd Place: $ 3,000
3rd Place: $1,500
4th Place: $1,000
5th Place: $750
7th Place: $500
The event starts Friday the 22nd of May, 2015, and concludes the following Sunday. If you aren't watching Stunfest 2015, you aren't a Street Fighter fan.
Notable entrants:
Pools: http://challonge.com/users/3hitcombo
(Note: Stunfest has been awful at updating their online presence, so don't expect running pool updates)
Pool 1: Xian, Gagapa, Emersion, D44BAS
Pool 2: Momochi, Pro Fluke, Mago, Will2Pac (French Viper player)
Pool 3: Luffy, Ryan Hart, Santarouman
Pool 4: Daigo, Dark Jiewa, Gamerbee, Veggey
Pool 5: Bonchan, RMZ, Cuongster, Fuudo
Pool 6: Tokido, EBI, Kazunoko, Kurenai
Pool 7: Poongko, Eita, Damascus
Pool 8: Infiltration, Valmaster, RF, xOver
Predictions:
- Xian and Gagapa obviously. Xian will exit through winners, and the rest aren't quite on Gagapa's level.
- Momochi and Mago. I love Pro Fluke, but it's MOMOCHI and MAGO. Sorry dude.
- Luffy and Santarouman. This is the hardest one since Ryan Hart might take it, but he plays like 7 characters now.
- Daigo and Gamerbee. Dark Jiewa is really good, but he's traditionally lost in tournaments despite great play.
- Bonchan and Fuudo. My heart would love RMZ and Cuongster, but my head laughs at that idea.
- Tokido and Kazunoko. EBI is really good and could take it over either, but it depends on what kind of day he's having.
- Poongko and Eita. Damascus was looking really strong but Eita has been really good lately (see: KVO).
- Infiltration. Second place is up for grabs; can't make a good prediction here. But if pressed: Valmaster
Man. I was looking forward to seeing RMZ. He's a UK player who's acquired a really solid Decapre, but that pool is just brutal. Sorry RMZ. Better luck at "Not Stunfest: The Tournament".
Schedule for USF4 at Stunfest is as follows:
Friday 22nd of May

MAIN STREAMS FOR THE TOURNAMENT:
There is some confusion about where USF4 will be streamed. Big sites like Shoryuken and Eventhubs both claim it will be streamed from www.twitch.tv/capcomfighters, but it it possible that one is just parroting the other's mistake.
Most stream monsters seem to think that USF4 will be on tv.stunfest.fr like all the other content, and that's the word from /r/StreetFighter and /r/Kappa from what I've seen. This is what I was led to believe as well, reading all of the game information leading up to Stunfest from official sources. I don't know where Eventhubs and Shoryuken got their information, but I added their claims to the OP on the off chance that two major FGC sites are better at consolidating legitimate USF4 information than some random guy on a StarCraft forum.
UPDATE: Looks like I was right. http://tv.stunfest.fr/r/MainEN is the main English stream for USF4 content. http://tv.stunfest.fr/r/Versus hosts most FGC content, http://tv.stunfest.fr/r/MainFR (French main stage) having the occasional finals inbetween having interviews and discussions.
News and updates will be added to this post as details become available.
- Japan
- Daigo Umehara, consistently the best Street Fighter player the world has ever seen
- Momochi, an incredible Ken player who is on a "best in the world" level streak of complete dominance
- Bonchan, perennial runner-up and best Sagat player in the world
- Kazunoko, top 10 player in the world and best Yun player on the planet
- Tokido, a godlike Akuma player, called "Murderface" for his on-stage presence
- Fuudo is part of the Holy Trinity of Fei Long players, and is a super strong contender in any tournament
- Eita, a solid up-and-coming Akuma player
- EBI, a brutally skilled Hakan player from Japan
- RF, super old school Sagat player who consistently almost has a career
- Santarouman, a Japanese player who mains Sagat and has many scary counterpicks
South East Asia - Infiltration, Evo champion, best player in the world most days and top 5 any other. God tier with many characters
- Poongko, top 10 in the world and without a doubt the best Seth player to have ever walked the earth
- Xian, Evolution 2013 champion and uncontested best Gen player in the world
- GamerBee, Taiwanese player who plays a phenomenal Adon
- XiaoHai, amazingly impressive Cammy player who also plays a perfect Sagat counter-pick
China - Dark Jiewa, strong Ken player always brushing up against tournament results but never quite getting intimate
France - Louffy, Evolution 2014 champion and best Rose player on the planet
- Alioune, a Cammy main from France who has acquired a scary looking Decapre alt
[Alioune is no longer attending] - Valmaster, a crowd favorite Chun-Li player who is always fun to watch
- Gagapa, an M. Bison (Dictator) player from France who consistently places top 8 in tournaments
- xOver, because holy shit look at that Decapre
Players from all across Europe - Ryan Hart, the Prodigal Son, Guinness world record holder and first ever sponsored FGC player
- Pro Fluke, a very flashy El Fuerte player and one of UK's top players
- Emersion, one of Europe's top Vega players
- RMZ, a very impressive Decapre player from the UK
- BX3.Veggey, because I am Norwegian and so is he, so suck it!

KVO is the next tournament for Ultra Street Fighter 4, and is part of this year's Capcom Pro Tour - the Asia qualifiers, to be precise. The event starts Sunday, May the 4nd of April, 2015, and concludes the same day.
KVO is a multi-game event that begins on May 2nd, but the USF4 portion only runs on May 4th for one day.
Notable entrants:
Important note: Except where Google Translate applies, this tournament's Twitter and website information is entirely in moon speak. Also, the way they're hosting it seems a bit odd to me, with the tournament being held over the course of one day on what appears to be a side stage. "Only the grand finals will be aired on the main stage". There should be some good streams for the tournament, and there is an American team involved with the process, so hopefully we'll get some more information as we near the start of the tourney.
News and updates will be added to this post as details become available.
KVO is a multi-game event that begins on May 2nd, but the USF4 portion only runs on May 4th for one day.
Notable entrants:
- Eita, a solid up-and-coming Akuma player
- Haitani, a fan-favorite who wishes he could play Rufus, but everyone wants him to play Makoto
- Itabashi Zangief, an amazing Japanese Zangief player who is a constant threat to Snake Eyez' throne
- Kim1234, arguably the best current Bison (Dictator) player in Japan and maybe the world
- Bonchan, perennial runner-up and best Sagat player in the world
- KojiKOG (2), the unquestionably best and most epic T. Hawk in the world swims from Japan to scoop players
- Pepeday, winner of (among other things) Canada Cup 2014, and best El Fuerte player on the planet
- Gachi-Kun, the "other best Sagat player" in Japan next to Bonchan

- Tokido, a godlike Akuma player, called "Murderface" for his on-stage presence
- Kazunoko, top 10 player in the world and best Yun player on the planet
- Misse, world class Makoto player who - unlike Haitani - actually likes playing Makoto
- RF, super old school Sagat player who consistently almost has a career
- Kindevu, epic tier whore who defies highlight videos, so click on this YouTube search instead
- Nemo, the best (and most bullshit) Rolento player currently living

Hypespotting 2015 will be attended by our very own Flicky, who intends to get his ass kicked (and maybe win one game).
Hypespotting is part of this year's Capcom Pro Tour, and winners get points towards the Pro Tour brackets and a chance to win the biggest prize pool in Street Fighter history this November. Featuring Mago, Tokido, Xian, Ryan Hart, Luffy, Problem X, and of course Flicky -- this one is going to be fun to watch!

Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition is an awesome game! It's available right now for Xbox, PS3 and PC. If you're a beginner or new to the game, going through 135 pages (and counting!) can be pretty daunting. Here are some of the videos I wish I knew about when starting!
Awesome combo video made by Desk to get you in the mood:

This is a 3-part series to "2d Fighters" by mingtongzhi, but all the game play is from Street Fighter 4. Highly recommended in order to understand the correct mindset when fighting.
Made by the same guy, useful again in that it teaches you what is important in the heat of battle.
Lengthy video series by VesperArcade that really goes in-depth into how the game works. Covers important topics like Plinking, Option Selects, Linking, Canceling, etc.
And finally, if you play Ryu - a guide made by top-player Air. It's an advanced guide in that it assumes you know most of his basic stuff. Mostly covers character-specific tactics and obscure tricks that can be used.

Enjoy and I hope you enjoy Street Fighting!
