edit2: I thought it was supposed to be released June 7th. Anyway, AE is soon!
Impossible, the twins are 7-free against everyone, real talk.
I heard somewhere that Balrog supposedly could stand up against the yun's rushdown. Dunno how accurate it is.
I'm just salty about losing the instant recovery on scrub-tastic wakeup Rose orbs like twice a round. That really could have helped in those matchups. Maybe I'll go back to Rog. Mash s.lp = beat divekicks, or maybe the upper part of the hitbox was also nerfed? I know it no longer hits big guys crouching, but that was a retarded property to have to begin with.
Honestly, Yun and Yang are exciting characters to watch. Besides the balance changes of AE, just having powerful offensive characters like Yun and Yang makes the game less turtley and better for viewers. And with characters like Sagat who are defensive, I feel I can appreciate their style more in AE. Plus, the game is balanced enough that Yun and Yang are definitely beatable.

If I recall correctly, Ono said something about Yun (not sure about Yang) being intentionally really good. As in almost godlike good.
You also have Fei Long, who is really good in vanilla super, now all he's getting is buffs in AE. (in which it makes me say balance my ass). It's like giving Vanilla Sagat more buffs in super.
Speaking of Sagat, he's more of a zoning character (even though they kinda meh zoning characters in general)

Yun has good mixups and great options to get in. People bitch about him but his frame data for normals are probably better than his specials, but if he whiffs a special the recovery frames on Yun are pretty obscene. Stop respecting yun the moment he's on the other side of the screen and you'll be fine. If you don't like playing rushdown then god help your soul.
lol that's a pretty bad way of putting it. that's likes saying "yea vipers/sagat good and all but if she/he whiffs a siesmo/TU/TK u got em" fight somebody who doesn't whiff shit out and it'll look a lil different.
seems pretty bad when yun has u in blockstun, but i don't think its nearly as bad as it's out to be. looking at the top players winning with him, it's not like they wouldn't be winning with other characters.
maybe it's because it had the "new game hype" but i felt vanilla was the best installment of sf4. for me its vanilla>AE>super. dunno y though
The blockstring mixups get pretty nuts, its just that people hate feeling so much pressure but I honestly don't think that people approach it the right way, don't let the twins have the option to spam you into block the whole game. Also, nobody is winning with Yun/Yang that wouldn't win otherwise, its not like Phoenix in MvC3 where retards can win with her on the team. It's been Daigo Kazunoko Justin and Marn, and I haven't seen anything that'd make me shit myself out of Fei Long except from Mago, which would have happened regardless.

He's a fucking developer, you really think that he means it when he says that shit? As spooky always says, the developers don't know SHIT about the game they just make it. Ono not only is known to troll but he's said retarded shit like "daigo is just good because he stands back and spams fireballs". No shit they didn't do it purposely.
Also, did you not read Fei Long? First of all he was ass at vanilla, good character in super but not godlike (and for fucks sake he's not on vanilla sagats level thats for sure), and he's staying pretty much the same with small tweaks, some buffs some nerfs. Losing invincibility on his CW is a pretty fucking big deal, its just that all the other characters pretty much got nerfs that he stands out.
Name one good character that was actually buffed and THATS why Fei Long is good now, but once again show me someone who derps their way to victory with fei long. It's a pretty heavy execution character and Mago is really the only one who shits on anyone but he's mago
Also, showing me that Momochi blew up Sako with Yun doesn't mean shit either cuz its fucking momochi, not some scrub.
Seth's jumping fierce isn't cheap dhalsim arms spam anymore and tanden typhoon has less invincibility so more need to combo it in (isn't too hard w/ cr.hp or magic legs in corner). Also headstomp is a bit harder to land.
At least he got a little less glassy, to the extent where a counter-hit zangief headbutt does not result in an insta-stun.
Still, losing the dhalsim arms really messes with my playstyle. Odds are I'll either switch to gief or revert back to SSFIV.
I've been seeing that 'Gief has a good matchup against the twins. So that could be an extremely viable option.
Edit: Lariat probably beats divekick, but does it beat lunge/shoulder? I doubt it beats the DP. I vaguely remember reading something about it. Also, yeah the new SPD range looks so huge!
Well the new SPD range is like, it almost feels like half screen lol, and its not like any of the twins have options from that range so you go in, get SPD's and lose 30% life.

And I thought SSFIV lp SPD was insane already. I'm really confused by Capcom's balancing team.
I like to do a mixup game w/ gief, where I'll try to do a meaty body slam crossup->c. lk->lariat half the time, and the other half is the body slam done earlier in the air hit to fake the opponent into blocking a crossup, and fierce SPD. Interchange the SPD for an ult for even more profit. I don't know, but it seems fierce SPD does even more damage than before (but the range is the same?).
I sold my 360 a few months ago when I was tired of grinding it out with M.Bison. I don't understand how most of the changes make sense when you're going to add the Twins afterwards that are in a class of their own. It just sucks that for a competitive game, you are punished heavily for not picking the right tool from the very start, in other words, the wrong character.
safe pressure into 50/50 shenanigans make me want to puke. =/
It's a shame that the twins are so good. AE brings a lot of exciting things. Ignoring Yun/Yang, the game is a bit more balanced (though Ryu's c.mk nerf was a bit uncalled for), and AE is way more aggressive.
Oh well. Hopefully everyone realizes how ridiculous the twins are and either bans them from tournament play, or AE dies and we go back to Super.
In this community there is no "go back to super if AE dies" now that the console release is out. If you want to be competitive competitive AE will be played regardless. But of course that doesnt mean you have to play it lol
Top to Bottom the game is more balanced, pretty much every character is viable, including the Dan's, Gen's, Guy's, Makoto (sick good now), Juri, Hakan, etc. They stand a slightly better chance than before.
