full video of the match:
InfiniteCyclists vs Pulled The Boys are both 1-1 in this week 7 matchup in FSL season 8. Pulled the Boys lost last week coming down to an Ace Match so they hope to bounce back. InfiniteCyclists beat Cheesy Nachos team in week 5.
InfiniteCyclists players listed first, then Pulled The Boys:
Code S match: Harouz (Protoss) vs DarkMenace (Zerg)
Darkmenace beat Harouz' brother, Lighthood the Terran. So he is looking for revenge not just for his loss in one of the playoffs games last season, but also for his brother.
In game 1 on Dynasty, Darkmenace later admitted he was nervous about this map which he wanted to veto but did not get to. So anticipating an attack he mentioned that he did not make a lot of drones, being worried about a timing push. At one point at 6:47 mark, Harouz had 70 workers vs Darkmenace's 50. He even had more opportunities to make the worker count even more lopsided, but his 2 oracles instead of diving into the workers, attacked a new hatchery, allowing Darkmenace to send his queens to defend.
Harouz also had the base count to match, colossus coming vs the hydralisks. It was looking all set. However, he lost his first army including 2 colossi to surrounds, then lost another colossus to a misrally, and he could not stop the huge army difference on the counter. It was a golden opportunity to win, but getting on creep and running back only to get surrounded was the key snowball moment for Darkmenace's comeback.
In game 2 on Golden Aura, Harouz opted for Void Ray to kill overlords as a distraction for the oracle. Darkmenace had a better start, especially with keeping up on workers, and was able to cancel the 3rd base with lings. The oracle spotted the spire, so Harouz prepared, but Darkmenace knew this and made a few mutas but transitioned to hydras and lurkers. A key battle on high ground saw Harouz get a jump on the Zerg army with archons, Void Rays, and storm on top, with an oracle providing detection. However, detection missed a lurker or two, which remained undetected, causing further problems. It snowballed from there, and Darkmenace was able to kill the 3rd base, securing a more definitive win.
Code B match: NizmoFlarem (Protoss) vs ChienPwn (Terran)
Unfortunately, this was similar for both games. ChienPwn in game 1 was able to do a lot with 1 reaper, but otherwise, game 2 played out similarly. Bio army stimmed and pushed into the Protoss to finish them off, just not enough units produced. Nizmo's economy and infrastructure were good but slightly too late and a few chargelots short of defending well.
Code A match: HyperTurtle (Zerg) vs Dpoo (Terran)
Game 1 on Post Youth, with the free expansion, saw HyperTurtle take advantage while Dpoo went double gas, rax to factory, and delayed his second Command Center. The early rush build didn’t pay off as HyperTurtle’s economy boomed from a rich gold base, eventually overpowering Dpoo's push with strong macro. A final attack failed, and Dpoo GG'd out.
Game 2, Dpoo executed an early worker-killing drop, then pushed with tanks on high ground, leading to a successful attack on the 3rd and securing a win for Dpoo.
2v2 match: Greeempire (Zerg) and HyperTurtle (Zerg) vs LittleReaper (Protoss) and Darkmenace (Zerg)
Game 1 on Heavy Artillery saw normal builds but a forward 3rd base by Greeempire. Pulled The Boys used adept + baneling defense, then a powerful counter with 10 gates and chargelots that overwhelmed InfiniteCyclists.
Game 2 on Catalesque was similar, with both sides initially cautious. Mutas by HyperTurtle banked but lacked ground support as the massive roach army and chargelots from Pulled The Boys rolled over InfiniteCyclists.
