ON Lanaia
lol...how am I suppose to take you seriously when you include those two? ON has barely said anything new and lanaia has been mostly asking questions. Yeah ok. Present to me three posts from each that actually show they are playing clear pro-town and I'll acknowledge you are right though I'm sure finding even 1 is going to be hard

As has been pointed out and discussed so far, the weird voting pattern for GMarshal so early on puts a lot of doubts on his probability of being a pro-town mayor. I don't think it's a chance we should take, and in order to secure a green mayor we should probably shift all the votes on GM to DrH (even if he has been a bit rude to you inidividually, I think it's still in town's favor). Leaving any votes on GM could lead to a situation where at the last moment he snags Pardoner, which (if he is red), still gives him access to the BGs, which is still super bad.
So if you're not scum and you're currently voting for GM, I think it's probably a good idea to move that vote elsewhere (probably DrH). Try not to scatter too much, cause that could leave Pardoner open to sniping.
I still strongly support Protactinium as Pardoner and will not personally be shifting my vote. Sorry, redFF.

Explain this. As far as I can see, your only reason for throwing dirt on me is the fact that I think your plan is stupid and I don't want a black in the office. If that's the only requirement for being mafia in your book you aren't the 'pro' player you're claiming to be, you're just trying to confuse the town.
You do realize that you have absolutely no more proof than anyone else that you are what you say you are? I'm convinced at this point that you're the one thats scum.

I'm fine with lynching M0nsterChef or OriginalName.. It's not that I necessarily believe them 100% to be mafia, but they seem to be not helping out the town effort much. Either way both seem like decent candidates. Kav I'm still unsure of as well, but at least he provided good, if not suspiciously thorough, analysis/strategies for newer players.

Oh. I don't know! I'm not saying that anyone on my list is pro town, just that they're acting like you should in this forum which is to say that they are not spamming, are spending time on their posts, and are therefore worth reading. I'd rather read one players long, well thought out post than I would one player's half a dozen posts responding to absolutely every single little spasm of activity in the thread.
Quality > quantity in this forum.

Almost all of the FoS's that have come out so far this game have been ridiculous, targeted at new players for not posting enough, or not reading properly, or acting like typical newbie players. DrH, some throwing accusations at people like they're candy. Read up, gather some information, and present it in a big large wall of text like everyone else does. Theres a reason we do it that way. Now, for newbies, you might not know who you should be listening to in this game if you're green (which you probably are since its your first game). You want to be listening to people with calm, levelheaded opinions, who have put a fair amount of thought and effort into their posts. You can tell these people by the amount that they post and the sheer quality of their posts. Spammers are generally not that helpful for analytic purposes. Here's my list of people that should be your role models, town or not town. This is how good mafia players behave in thread: Kita GM Protract ON Lanaia Kav myself ( ) and urashimakt is doing pretty good too, for a newbie. There are a few other players that are doing well, but those 7 are the ones you should pay attention to when they post. Keep in mind that you should be reading their stuff with an open mind; feel free to challenge them where you think they are acting scummy, but rather then throw out an FoS (which is a fairly serious, formal accusation in this forum and is currently being abused to great extent) simply point out their scummy play. If you want to post an FoS make sure you've done your research; big posts with lots of quotes and analysis are what we're after. Putting effort into your posts is what makes you town. My analysis on Tracestorm is incoming. this is almost artistically scummy
throwout some people who have contributed basically nothing (On/Lanaia), pad Kav's shitty arguments, make a big "come on guys can we all just get along and play well???" post that doesn't serve any purpose or contribute any analysis
anyway you're on my shitlist and hopefully everyone can see how ridiculous this post is

Alrighty DrH, I'm voting for you.
##Vote DrH
I'd really prefer that GMarshal not get elected. Protactinium said it well... his PBPA was lackluster, his scumhunting skills are not really honed as far as I have observed. And, GM, if you managed to peg the mafia team day 1 last game, you're either lucky or you're better than everyone else in the forum. I'm thinking lucky...
ON seems like a fine lynch to me. Mig is also a good lynch in my opinion, not to let him slide under the radar anymore.
I've been looking at the players in the anti-protact list. If we don't elect protact (likely), then we can't rely on the blacks to clean up this list for us, so we might as well look at these guys ourselves.
Gmarshal - running for mayor, not a strong candidate imo tnkted - DrH has pointed out the scummy posts here mig - DrH again pointed out the scumminess kitaman - strongest opponent of protact, in my opinion overreacted. Kavdragon - I completely agree with protact that kav needs to stop with the general advice and start playing this game--but kav is still a dumb day1 lynch. After his performance in the last few games, he should be a target for scum if he's not one of them. Wiggles - haven't noticed this guy, other than GMs PBPA on him Darmousseh - fairly inactive (i think 2-3 posts) votes for GM, complains about spam Dropbear - posts look clean to me. Interacts and takes stands. Is a little too quiet perhaps (4-5 posts) Robellicose - another quiet one. One of his first posts seemed like a scumslip to me, but subsequent posts make it hard to say :/ Coagulation - looks to me like his green meta, but I would never bet money on this guy's alignment Darmousseh, mig, tnkted are the scummiest looking ones in my opinion.
Chaoser, what happened to your campaign? ran out of energy?
|
Ok, time to post again. Kav is playing very forcefully and seemingly intentionally. I'll stick with my idea that he is black. Gmarshal seems like a find decision right now, kita would be back up vote or pardoner. I highly not reccomend voting for a black for mayor because his goals are not going to align with towns. If he wants to screw town with his powers, then there is nothing to stop him. The other thing is that I think prot is probably red. If I was mafia and wanted to become mayor, I would claim black and do his plan. It is very intentional, very controversial and has been able to convince people to follow him. It's a risky move, but if it works, then it gives him a huge advantage.

On April 11 2011 11:24 DoctorHelvetica wrote: I feel terrible abotu gmarshal right now. I think mayor should be me but everyone hates me so I guess kitaman27 is a rational choice.
Just to re iterate.
I AM RUNNING FOR MAYOR.
My platform: -ignore assassin bullshit for the most part -I'd consider protact for pardoner because a. he will use his powers to help the town in exchange for the bodyguard protection so he can win his game b. pardoner isn't a strong role for the town -keep town focused on hunting scum -ignore everything pandain and kenpachi say
so if those seem like things you like, you should vote for me. My top 3 lynch candidates are: 1. originalname 2. mig 3. kavdragon
lol, i like this plan DrH. I will probably switch my vote for you. Most Pro-town post by far.

I find DrH's playstyle to be unlike the pro-town playstyle he has displayed in recent games He is very offensive and quick to call people scum. Look at his platform when he ran in mafia 36:
On January 24 2011 09:36 DoctorHelvetica wrote: Also I'll run for mayor.
Reasons you should vote for me:
1. I am a big mafia target and bodyguard protection will help me survive into the later stages of the game. 2. I do fairly well at organizing town discussion and making sure we don't get sidetracked. 3. I'm not the best scumhunter, but I'm getting better. I am pretty good at determining who is trustworthy so I think I'll make good decisions as far as bodyguards. 4. I'm great at clue analysis. He posts good reasons, acknowledges his flaws, and come off as more laid back than in this game.
This is his pro-town post that lead to the infamous mass claim to DrH in Salem: + Show Spoiler +On December 27 2010 18:34 DoctorHelvetica wrote:Meh I'll just start now, I have some time. We need to very carefully consider the framer role. It is often advised to detectives, by mafia, that a big town target should be checked to get "information". DT's should check the targets they think are most likely scum based on post behavior and that's pretty much all there is to it until later in the game when a lot of information actually can be gleaned from an alignment check. Framer Strategy: mafia railroads/advises DT to check a big town target with a lot of attention (for an example of this level of attention look at me in insane mafia) and then simply frame them. Pandain was effectively framed on day 1 of haunted and a DT checked him, because Pandain was an active poster but there was nothing scummy about any of his posts. It was a bad check. So beware of attempts to railroad you into checking certain targets especially if it happens in PM. I imagine myself, Pandain, LSB, and RoL will all be strong frame targets that is if they aren't going to be hit since they are likely to be checked. I'm not saying don't check veteran players, I'm saying check people you think are scum. Also DT's shouldn't claim if they find a red and definitely not in PM either. Build a case on that person. Read through their posts and seriously consider them. Read them as though they are mafia, what are they doing to hurt/mislead the town and does it make sense? They might be a miller (there are probably 2, that is the normal count) and they might also have been framed. When you checked someone and now they are mafia or are nearly certain you build a good case to get them lynched, you don't claim straight away because it's still possible the mafia won't hit you and if they do it become immediately apparent why you pushed so strong for a specific lynch which means the mafia have to do a lot of damage control especially if they tried to spread distrust/attack that DT. While I ask for everybody to post as concisely as possible, post again if you have to edit anything. Make sure you read all the rules. =) Oops x[ I remembered after I edited hahaha. I \was basically gonna say that Coag probably couldn't be mafia as the timing of his ban would probably prevent him from making hits? But then I looked up the time of his ban and it disproves my theory. The timing of his ban should have nothing to do with what role he may or may not be. Or rather what role I may or may not be. I'm gonna say this about vig's: don't shoot until night 3 or night 4. As the game progresses it gets easier and easier to find mafia and that's when efficient town KP use becomes super important. Don't blow your hit early, you'll more than likely miss. Your goal is to not get killed. As far as this Pandain bandwagon Idon't see why that is. This isn't a mafia thing it's just stupid but he did roleclaim village idiot to me in PM before the game started, not sure what that means. Probably nothing because he's just bad. If he's scum I'll catch him pretty quickly so I'm not worried about him at all. LunarDestiny's posts so far come off as the most scummy but that's just barely, no good target has presented itself yet to me for the lynch so I'll vote for myself. My work schedule is unpredictable and I don't want to get modkilled for it. He posts good advice and lists his opinion, but he doesn't go all out and call people scum on day 1.

All of his posts in teamliquid so far have been mafia related(man, even Proctat sometimes posts in non related stuff.) But who joins teamliquid just to play mafia? Who even knows they play mafia? So there are 3 possible reasons why Lol1221 was killed: 1.They thought he was blue. Not really indicated by any of his posts. I haven't played mafia yet, so perhaps I'm not that good at blue analysis so maybe he just seemed to be one. But this is a doubtful reason, a possible, just maybe blue, rather than a more expierenced player? 2. He was catching on to them. Still doubtful, as without #3 being true they wouldn't really have to worry. Let's see his posts: On October 21 2010 09:56 lol1221 wrote: [Vote]##Pandain
interesting... On October 22 2010 09:48 lol1221 wrote: hmm i probably would be wrong since i am new but at this point it seems like jodogohoo is not mafia??
this is like what, 7 people voted on him? no one seemed to have attacked anyone who started or joined the jodogohoo bandwagon, meaning the mafias probably knew that he's a townie so it would be for their benefit to kill jodogohoo...this logic could be turned over if the the mafia is trying to hold back the frustration of losing a teammate but the chance is that seems pretty low since there was hardly ANY objection in the vote (don't get me wrong, i am not the mafia trying to convince people to change votes, it's like last minute already)
just explaining how i viewed this bandwagon and stuff, noob @_@ He later unvoted me, but keeping that in here. The last post is fairly good, and I was worried about that too(most likely mafia just changed to bandwagon him for fear of another person being voted off.) But really he hasn't accused anyone, just defended people. So this point isn't a real viable reason why mafia shot him. 3. They knew he was a smurf, so shot him. This makes the most sense. Why shoot a new player, who doesn't really show any signs he's blue, and really didn't accuse anyone? why would they do this? The only possible reason is that they thought(read: knew) he was a smurf. Now, what does this entail? Most likely, an expierenced player is on the mafia team. For instance, if two of the newcomers(only playing in the last game), were on a team, then how would they know he was a smurf? Sure, they could look through his posts, but why do that when he hasn't contributed anything either? This is why I believe either Brownbear or Dr. H is mafia(most likely Dr. H, albeit Brownbear has been around for a while and even posted a sentence where he said he knew he was a smurf.) I'm leaning towards Dr. H, I'll post later about that. her last post was garbage. there is no such real thing as a day 1 bandwagon. day 1 votes/lynches are for the most part utterly meaningless unless scum really fucks up as far as an experienced player being on mafia I agree it's likely. that would put me, you, and brownbear under suspicion. I don't agree that lol1221 was a smurf. I can't think of any experienced players that post that badly or misunderstand the game enough to start talking about mafia voting habits/bandwagons on day 1 Lol1221 was almost certainly a smurf. Again, every single one of his posts have been in the mafia forums. Who joins a sc2 website to play mafia? And imo he was just playing new, as do all of smurfs. You have to look not only at his words(which are quite suscipcious in themselves because he CONSTANTLY points out the "fact" that he's new.) but at his actions as well(only has posted in mafia forum.) Also, you should be happy to note that I do not think you are "most likely" mafia. I do find some of your actions suscipcious, such as voting jodo for being a bad player, then despite your constant pointing out coag is playing "poorly" don't vote him, and even thinks he's townie. I'm sure you have a good reason(intuition for example,) but care to explain? As of right now I'll be analyzing people. -_- 1. day 1 vote doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter doesn't matter 2. coag is bad but that doesn't mean he's mafia. i already explained it but since you are incapable of reading and understanding my posts I'll say it again. mafia don't post like coag does. it's not WIFOM, it's pretty simple. if coagulation had a scumbuddy (which would most likely be an experienced player) his scumbuddy would be instructing him not to post like he is. if he is scum, you're his partner and he is REALLY dumb for defending you out of the blue. even you are good enough at this game to tell him not to do that. but that is probably not the case. he's probably a DT who checked you out as town and is being dumb by begging for medic protection (already 1 soft blue claim there) and defending you for no reason. I don't want to lynch the person I most suspect of being blue. why would I vote for him? 3. i doubt lol1221 is a smurf. unless she is a smurf trying to pretend that she is an awful player or something. it usually doesn't worth that way. a few people signed up or started posting to play in haunted mafia so it's possible she did the same. if she is a smurf, she's the smurf of a really bad player. It's hard to guess why mafia would hit her. they either thought, like you, that she was the smurf of a good player, or they're trying to do the opposite of what is expected (which would be to hit experienced players and blues) 4. never said you thought I was most likely mafia. you said an experienced player is most likely mafia and AFAIK the only "experienced" players here are me you and BB. 5. knock yourself out analysing worthless day 1 votes In that game he was quick to point out other peoples bad play, and he was very active in the thread, much like he is here.
All this said I find myself agreeing with many of DrH's posts, he often posts what I was thinking. But I think his posting style is too alike to what I know as his mafia style for me to dare voting for him.

If the mayor is a ninja and he wins he will leave the game, right? Losing the mayor halfway through seems bad for our fair city, and while I don't have any hard proof of this I get the feeling more then one ninja is after the mayoral office, but thats just a kinda gut feeling. I can't think of a time somebody has roleclaimed ninja and then run for mayor...
As for my vote, I feel DoctorHelvetica has the towniest position regarding our claimed ninja and how best to use him in the towns' favor. ## vote DoctorHelvetica (will put that in other thread momentarily)

My feelings on the mayor candidates:
Pandain: I don't know what to think about you. Apart from that I'm not voting for you.
Kavdragon: All your big posts so far have read like a "Mafia for Dummies" guide. I read Ver's guide for beginners I don't think we need another one clogging up this game. What are you actually trying to say? I am not voting for you.
GMarshal: has talked up his scum-hunting abilities. My brief look through his history suggests his success rate has been mixed. His policies seem to change rapidly with prevailing opinion. From a look through his past matches he has a history of being indecisive. He also has been strongly against Protactinium. But then, Protact is a rival. None of this seems out of order to me. I am however VERY interested in his FoS on Mr Wiggles. There doesn't really seem to be any reason for it, nor does there seem to much difference from some of the things he's said himself. I am not sure about you Marsh.
kitaman27: Refer to his campaign speech.
On April 10 2011 12:09 kitaman27 wrote: Pardoner Campaign
I'm running for pardoner. Why? Well frankly, so I keep it out of the hands of everyone else. I know I'm town, so I see little reason not to run.
In addition, it would cut the odds of the mafia learning the bodyguard identities in half and force them to campaign harder, rather than settling for second.
My pardoning policy would be to let the lynch go as planned unless there is an undoubtedly obvious mafia bandwagon. It would not be surprising if I never chose to use the power at all. Has been more interested in the pardoner role than mayor itself. I'm not sure why you'd want to be pardoner not mayor? Mayor is ridiculously overpowered compared to pardoner. He has been aggressive against Protactinium. He has mentioned lurkers as a priority, then proceeded to call out Monsterchef. The main thing for me is that kita has done little to no backflipping, unlike many other candidates. He's contributing more. I am cautiously optimistic that he is town and is a good vote.
Protactinium: Has basically said that anyone not voting for him is a suspect. There has been huge debate regarding him and the way things are going his "suspect list"is looking like it will be about three quarters of all the players. Which really narrows things down. I've already stated my disregard for voting Protactinium but I think Coag has said it best:

If it comes off, yay for us, if not, we're fucked. As I have said previously, I am not voting for you.
DoctorHelvetica: Has been slinging enough mud to sink a ship and tried to pass it off as honesty. I'm not sure I see the equation there? I am unsure about you.
Chaoser: I am unsure if you are still in the running. I liked you as a candidate before. Since my last posts you have been slinging a lot of mud. Also, you edited a post. It may have been a mistake, but it warrants a mention. I am unsure about you.
tnktd: Is easily the least experienced player of the candidates. He regularly posts before his campaign post, decided to run much later than all the others. He appears to be trying to help, his suggestions to problems look to me as stepping up. He is under attack from from Protactinium and DoctorHelvetica, who are in competition with him and I'm interested to see how he handles it. He is in my eyes being undervalued. He seems a lot cleaner than some of the others. I am optimistic that he is town and is a good vote.
Kenpachi: Where are you man? Say some more stuff. Everything so far except your campaign post and your strange sheeping post has been either one or two lines, saying not much. I am not voting for you unless you step it up.
Tnkted and kita are my top choices at the moment.
