2024 Off-season Community Weekly Cups
Week of November 18-24
by Wax
While the week isn't technically over, we'll be filing this recap early as all the major cups have concluded for the period. The current cup schedule is less consistent than in the ESL days, and just two cups ended up being played in the relevant week—down from a whopping six cups in the prior week of November 11-17.
It's not necessarily bad news, however. This was largely due to Olimoleague wrapping up its November weeklies in preparation for its $1000+ November finals (Nov 26), as well as the bi-weekly KSL having one of its off weeks.
Anyway, here's what went down in this week's pair of cup tournaments.
WardiTV Mondays #11 (partial bracket shown)
Clem had been getting the better of MaxPax these last few weeks, but anyone who's followed their rivalry knows neither player stays on top for long (at least when we're talking weekly cups). Indeed, MaxPax hit back in WardiTV Mondays #11 with a convincing 3-0 against Clem in the finals. The Danish Protoss put in a great all-around performance, winning the first game on Oceanborn in a straight-up macro bout before toppling Clem with early-game tactics on the following two maps.

PiGosaur Cup #7 (partial bracket shown)
Clem bowed out for PiGosaur Cup #7 while MaxPax decided to go for the unofficial 'double.' However, he was thwarted one step short of his goal by SHIN, who won the weekly title with a 3-1 victory in the finals. This result may have been considered an upset just a few months ago, but with SHIN being possibly the best Zerg of this 'off-season' period, it was hardly a surprise at all. SHIN dropped the first game of the finals after a failed all-in, but it took three maps in a row once he pivoted to a Hydralisk-centric macro style.
