Now I've been eyeing the Steelseries 6gv2 , Razer BlackWidow and Zowie Celeritas. Since I know virtually nothing about mechanical keyboards I'd appreciate any advice. Thank you.

The blackwidow is also nice, but a bunch of flashy lights are not very amusing for me. I don't know much about the Celeritas, maybe lookup a comparison vid.

Also I have no need for headphones I/O nor the USB port. Thanks for the tip ! The 6gv2 seems to be really really nice.

I don't mind it but it's not something I feel gives the keyboard an edge over other keyboards. Also I have no need for headphones I/O nor the USB port. Thanks for the tip ! The 6gv2 seems to be really really nice. Read the thread about mechanical keyboards over at Overclock to get a better idea of what you're looking at. Just google "Mechanical keyboard guide", should be at the top of the list. You really don't want to look at a keyboard and think "It's mechanical, it's good", while partially true some switches are better suited for X, and others for Y. I realize I'm being vague but it comes down to opinion, the 6GV2 has black switches for example. Read up on it, see if it's good for you. If it sounds like something you wouldn't like the Blackwidow has blue switches I believe, which is a polar opposite. Guess I'm trying to say you want to make sure the 6GV2 is for you before buying it on impulse "just because it's popular and mechanical". I was going to buy it, but after reading up on it I realized it wasn't for me and went for a Filco with browns which suits me perfectly.

I recently picked up a 6vg2. I like it, its a huge improvement over what I was using before. But I'm still curious as to what brown switches or blue for that matter feel like, and over the years I'm sure I'll get a 2nd or 3rd mechanical keyboard. Knowing this I was pretty confident in my purchase because I'm not trying to find the absolute best keyboard for me - because I can't until I practice with them and so on. I think I have this perspective because I play guitar. Any electric guitar player will tell you that over the years they've spent money on pedals, or strings or new amps here and there. Tastes and preferences change, styles change and as you know more your perspective will change. I doubt any of the keyboards being discussed are unplayable. Pick one that meets most of your needs, price point, and in a year you'll have a much better perspective. If you know that you want to play with a mechanical keyboard for the rest of your days then no reason to approach your 1st as if its your last.

Filco all the way... Question why didnt u like the Blackwidow? as i see the Razer looks better than the 6gv2 the last one looks like a normal keyboard just that cost 100us dollar while razer looks amazing have that light with the logo and is cheaper...

Razer Blackwidow Razer has a long history of making crap keyboards, however the blackwidow product line has redeemed its bad reputations, guys, this keyboard actually looks and feels pretty good and i think this keyboard is best for any RTS games, i'd played starcraft with the 6Gv2 and i notice i'd often hit the wrong keys either because the keys are too heavy and or i had to press the key all the way down for me to confirm key register mentally but i know the key registers about half way. however the blue switch blackwidow is totally the opposite, keys are light and i've made less errors because of it and tactile clicks helps too, noticed an APM gain. This keyboard looks WAY better then the 6Gv2 by far, quality according to the guys at geekhacks, this one are topnotch altho i personally think that the 6Gv2 would last long than the blackwidow lol at the end of the day we shouldn't really care because the key switches are all from Cherry anyways. TL;DR- FPS and MMO games, SteelSeries 6Gv2, 7G is for the rich kids that likes short backspace keys lol RTS games: Razer Blackwidow, or any other blue switches If anyone has Filco Brown please post your experiece and Cherry Brown experience in general tyvm. Cheers Yeah i think about the razer blackwidow its 1- looks better 2- have a logo with light 3- cheaper 4- razer is not as bad as ppl may think 5- its Blue cherry tactyble audible so better than black imo

Looks is subjective, that is an opinion 2. Flashy bullshit doesnt sell a keyboard. 3. Ok. 4. Razer is trash, horrible drivers, firmware and customer support. 5. switches comes down to preference, id say most people would feel very happy with cherry browns. Again, opinion.

I have a Razer Deathadder almost 1year its still working like the first day. 5- Yes, but Blue ones are GOOD Compare Razer Steelseries

I have a diamondback that still works till today. Since then, they have gone way, WAY down hill in terms of quality. Mostly from personal experience and from others i have read about. Mostly in the mouse dept. I bought a Razer imperator, and i know it is working because it will turn on sometimes at random times. But the sensor and lights on it will never work when i initially turn on the computer, but the buttons still work, Therefore its a broken mouse. I blame drivers and firmware. Razer tech support did not help at all; only giving generic mouse troubleshooting tips. Thanks razer. black and brown are good too, what is your point?

Also, I might have made this suggestion earlier, but if you're on a budget, check out the ione scorpius M10, it has blue switches and its relatively cheap. However its basically a pot luck and chances of it being DOA are 50/50, so you might have to RMA it, as I did. I'm lovin it though ^^.

-steelseries 6gv2 -razer black widow -filco majestouch -zowie celeritas The 6gv2 I didn't really like the layout on, the black widow I didn't like the looks as well as I don't like those macro keys. The celeritas I couldn't even find a picture of with the swe layout so that was a no go. The filco though seems pretty much perfect so thats what I ended up ordering, only downside is it ended up costing more than twice as much as the 6gv2 I was originally looking at.

You look at the regular 105 key version of the celeritas in whatever language and mentally project ö, ä, å, and such to the appropriate places. A 105 keyboard keyboard in any given language is a 105 key keyboard in any given language. Assuming the same amount of keys and the same language, the layout is going to be 100% the same.

Didn't realize this, on the store pages I only saw images with the strange upside down new line key (US layout?) and then tried to find one with a Swedish layout specifically, didn't think of just looking for a keyboard with just the same layout. Will keep that in mind in the future though. Thanks!

I bought a U.S edition Filco Tenkeyless and while everything is there.. the key next to the left shift isn't. Instead I have a large shift key. Either I'm being retarded and not finding it or it just isn't on the keyboard. If someone knows where the shit it is, please do call me dumb and tell me where it is :/
