I brought the Filco Majestouch, with the cherry mx blue switches. It's easily the best keyboard I've ever used, I would recomend it to anyone.

Same, but mine has blacks. Switch preference is all in the eye of the beholder, I don't mind the linear as much as I thought I would. Quite to the contrary. But yeah man, Filcos/Duckys are the best keyboards, they're like BMWs. They look so unassuming and elegant, yet you know when you see one "Wow, that looks like a really fine keyboard."

That said, the Rosewill blues from Newegg are Filcos with a different name, so they're great too. And the other best reason to get a Filco/Rosewill: easy modding. Most custom keycaps are designed with FIlcos in mind.

you don't really need tactile to get used to pressing a key halfway, it might just take a few more days to learn

Even with my brown switches, which are supposedly tactile, I hardly notice the tactile bump, and pretty much have to bottom-out on most - if not every - key press I make, especially on certain keys, and especially when typing fast.
I think blues would be a lot more useful, as long as the noise isn't bothersome. Personally I think the noise from my keys bottoming out is almost or just as loud as blue clicks anyway.

Seems like a lot of people have the 6gv2. I have it too, and I recently got a new keyboard with brown switches. I really liked typing on the blacks and its perfect for playing games. After trying the browns though, I understand why people don't like typing on the black switches. Feels so good to type on =)

First time touching regular keyboards after typing on my Blackwidow. Felt so wrong. I don't know how I'd live with non-mechanical keyboards.

I use Das Keyboard, "silent" edition and LOVE it. It had brown switches and gets my full recommendation. One thing to note though, is that that "silent" edition is still louder than any keyboard I've ever owned.

They also sell a keyboard that has unlabeled keys (everything is just black), which is pretty much the most bad ass thing ever.

yep once you type on cherry mx blues and play starcraft 2 you will never want to use another keyboard again. It's heavenly. The blackwidow gives a great price/performance but has some issues with 2kro over some games (zxc doesnt work for example) so if you are hardcore and only play sc2, it's great, but if you are a little everywhere you might run into the lack of nkro like I have. Great keyboard regardless. Feels much better than the dt35, and was a good upgrade over my old IBM model M which was starting to feel the wear and tear.

If people do not mind the noise the black widow is a great keyboard but if you are a fast typer it is quite loud and quite obnoxious. I cannot wait till my next lan where I bring this keyboard, and since people try to get the maximum amount of sleep ontop of their keyboards I wonder how long I can keep them up just by typing.

With that said if you have the money it might be a better idea to get a das keyboard with blues, or browns if you dont want the noise. But as a guide the browns are easier to press and dont make as much noise. So are easier to make mistakes on and typos, and you are less likely to know when you make them.

So my 6gv2 arrived today and oh boy, I love my keyboard so much!

It was worth all $86 (Thx to CurLy), I didnt want to spend any more than $100 on a keyboard after all. I am pretty sure other switches may feel better but I wont know till I try it. For now I am very pleased with my purchase.

I just bought the razor black widow. Being someone who actually used a lot of mech keyboards back in the day, I'd day the feel of this is like a modernized classic revamped. It's nice I really like it, I've only had it for a few hours though. It cost a pretty penny but I can already tell the difference.

Like I said in my other thread, it's like buying a good winter jacket. You don't really wanna shell out the money, thought once you got it you see how big of a difference and improvement it is over your old model.

Just stepped over to the old keyboard, feels like its gonna break when I type on it lol.

Something I think I'd want in a keyboard is less travel distance on the switches. Personally I think I like blues better than my browns as well, although I haven't had the chance to use blues too much.

Well I got my RK-9000 a few days ago and so far I am loving it. It is a no frills board that is super solid. No usb ports on the side or anything just a braided cable and a keyboard. From my understanding it is basically a filco with blues instead of blacks. They are even made at the same plant. But anyways I would highly recommend this keyboard to anyone that wants a no frills keyboard with blues. The one thing I did notice is that the F1 key is slightly farther to the right(1/3 inch) then my old dell keyboard. However, I am pretty much used to it after only a few days. The other thing that is kinda odd is that the keyboard is mounted to a red metal plate so when you look at the keyboard straight on you can see a hint of red underneath the keys. Just an oddity of the keyboard as I hardly notice it.

Maybe ill put up a youtube video of the sound this keyboard makes when typing on it. Anyways hope the op finds the right keyboard.

I've been eyeing off a Das Model S with the browns, but I can't live without media keys and it looks like they don't come with any

6gv2/7g is a rolid solid keyboard. People are really making a fuss about that they don't like black switches, which scares away some people. I bought the 7G and thought at first "It can't be that bad" now I've been using it for 2 months. By far the best and most solid keyboard I've ever used, I got used to the small backspace in about a week, it is no longer a problem.

I did borrow a Razer BlackWidow to play on when I was at dreamhack, had it for a day. A really good keyboard considering it's Razer. Awkwardly placed macro keys, but easy to get used to.

I think 7G is a more solid choice though.

Ducky DK-9008s have some media keys, if you just only need play, pause, stop, volume, and next track, it would probably do nicely.

I think it's really a matter of preference, I had a blackwidow but I didnt't like it. I'm happy with my 6gv2 or now but if price is not a problem. Filco all the way...
