are browns better for double tapping than blues?(with release and actuation points) or are they identical exept for the clicking. ive heard some say its better

Browns are better. Blues are much easier to move around the board though, which is why they are preferred for typing. Blacks will be the most exteme double tapping pleasure because they are stiffer and don't have that tactile bump. The bump is to let you know ur hitting the key, which makes it good for all-over-the-board stuff. Blacks, however, have a high actuation force. When gaming ur pressing down hard anyway, especially in FPS, so Blacks are preferred for gaming. Also, with Blacks that high actuation force reduces miss-clicks.

Can somebody explain to me how reds and blues feel? I'm using browns at the moment.

Also, do reds wear out?

It's basically a brown switch for gaming, meaning an even better doubletap or it considered a lighter Black switch. Switches are all about personal preference, but generally Reds are considered too light for typing.

Yes, EU layout works for all EU layouts (duhh ).

It says 105 german keys on the site or something similar.
Sorry if I come across retardedand asking to many questions inthe thread but it is a lot of Money :p
Don't suppose you tested it?

germans use a different keyboard layout, I think it's called qwertz (I made this mistake when I ordered a laptop from germany... ended up returning it), you should probably get the US one if you're not german although I can't say for sure

US layout probably doesn't have the pound symbol on it, but I suppose you should be able to reprogram it in your OS
you can look at both the US layout and the german layout if you google it and click on images

I don't know if this is mentioned, but the Blackwidow Ultimate on Newegg now has a deal where it comes with a free Razer Spectre. I know both items aren't really worth the price, but both of them for $130 seems like a good deal.

The European layout is still the European layout. If he orders the Ultimate, he'll have no problems because it's practically the same as the one he has now. Unless he orders the Professional version, which will have German print on the keys, but still work exactly the same as the one he's using now, he'll just have to ignore the print on a couple of keys. If you live in Europe, you're not better off using a US-layout, because switching to it makes no sense at all.

These questions wouldn't even come up if people were smart enough to search for answers themselves. Wikipedia has everything they need to know. It's not a difficult concept.

Using a Steelseries 6gv2 at the moment which I bought about a month ago. it's great. Some of it's minor flaws like the different placement of the 'sign is just something you get used to overtime. Acctaully I sometimes misstype on my laptop keyboard since I'm getting so used to the SS.

Sometimes you can feel that the keyboard is one of the cheaper ones though. The keycaps on the keys are a bit loose as you can move them around on their "sticks" when they're not pressed (don't really know what to call the levers used to activate the switches)

a lot of countries use different layouts, ur right I checked now that the UK uses a different layout than the US one (in my EU country we use US-layout) but you will have a very different print if you get a german layout

Is there anywhere you can get completely custom keycaps? Like, choose your inking method, and upload a bunch of vectors for the graphics, then pay out the ass, and have a boss mode custom keyboard 2 weeks later?

I've only heard of the geekhack forums buying stuff like that in large groups, not singly.

I just bought the U9PLus with cherry blues and I have to say it was a great investment. No problems at all and it is a great keyboard for me and I love it. Comes with custom orange key caps so you can change out any key on your keyboard if you like and a key puller which is nice for cleaning. So for the money the Xarmor has not treated me wrong.

I believe that is a Razer Black Widow.

I have been using a Filco Majestouch 2 w/blue switches now for 3 months, worth every penny!
No issues with double tapping at all so far.
Got it from Keyboardco.

Yep, that's definitely the Razer Blackwidow. Pretty sure it's the version without the backlighting too. I have the same keyboard and I have to say it's really good.

I use a Leopold tenkeyless Otaku(i think that's the spelling. Means it doesn't have any print on the keys) Brown switches. I love it! Was hard to get used to the no print on the keys at first for the numbers since it doesn't have the number pad on it. After a while though i've gotten used to it and love the space saving it brings since it doesn't have the number pad. Also since there isn't print on the keys i don't have to worry about the print fading and looking poor. Highly recommend it if you have the cash to spare.
