The 6gv2 I didn't really like the layout on, the black widow I didn't like the looks as well as I don't like those macro keys. The celeritas I couldn't even find a picture of with the swe layout so that was a no go. The filco though seems pretty much perfect so thats what I ended up ordering, only downside is it ended up costing more than twice as much as the 6gv2 I was originally looking at.

Err what? You look at the regular 105 key version of the celeritas in whatever language and mentally project ö, ä, å, and such to the appropriate places. A 105 keyboard keyboard in any given language is a 105 key keyboard in any given language. Assuming the same amount of keys and the same language, the layout is going to be 100% the same.

I bought a U.S edition Filco Tenkeyless and while everything is there.. the key next to the left shift isn't. Instead I have a large shift key. Either I'm being retarded and not finding it or it just isn't on the keyboard.

If someone knows where the shit it is, please do call me dumb and tell me where it is :/

That's because the US-Layout is 104 key.
Functionally it's the one below backspace.

Well, that settles it then. The one below backspace has * and '. Thanks though.

Glad I'm not a programmer or web designer, else I'd be cursing this buy.

Personally I use the Blackwidow and I think its awesome. Really if all you want is a mechanical keyboard then just look for a brandname.

The problem i see with all this Mechanical keyboard apart from Razer
they look cheap, they look like a 5dollar keyboard, if i will pay 100+ dollar most be something
special.
The Razer Blackwidow looks Special, a friend of u can go to ur home
and see your Filco or g6v2 and wont notice anything since those keyboard look borring...

and then u will tell him test it, he will feel good, but at what price? 100+ dollar for a keyboard that just look like my 5year old keyboard? no way.
if play random i can't call any race imba?

I see it the other way around honestly. I dont really need my keyboards to have flashy lights all over them , logos or other shit. Its the feel. I'm not saying the looks dont / cant / shouldnt appeal to others but for me... Im never going to just sit and look at my keyboard. Just type on it In that same sense I dont buy mousepads / mouses or other stuff because they're handsome but because they fill a function I like.

I finally settled on a Filco Majestouch with brown switches. Now the waiting game begins...

I am thinking to buy a new mechanical keyboard with the brown switches. However since I live in New Zealand, many of the brand such as Filco and Das aren't available as far as I can tell. So I need to look for alternative brands such as razor or steelseries, some of the more common ones here.

Anyone know any good ones that they would recommend?

Dont you use a US layout in NZ? If so, you can get it from pchome, a taiwanese webstore that does international shipping for $20 max. UK version u can check with keyboardco, they are very helpfull.

I'm looking into getting a das keyboard, is it worth the extra 50 dollars, or should I just get a rosewill or a blackwidow?

with the student discount, the das shouldn't be an extra 50 dollars, especially if you are in canada

Yeah, I mean, it's as if you're buying a product that sells on quality and reliability alone. I like a product that sells on its aesthetics and LED lights. When I buy a computer, I don't look at the spec sheets, I just buy the tower with the most stickers on it.

Here is my current rig:

ASRock MoBo - 2 flashing lights and 3 stickers
CPU - 0 flashing lights and 4 stickers
GPU - 4 flashing lights and 7 stickers
PSU - 2 flasing lights and a spinny fan
HDD - 3 flashing lights and 8 stickers
RAM - 4 flashing lights and 2 stickers

Keeping a high flashing lights to stickers ratio is really important, because everyone knows if your sticker count overtakes your flashing light count it is time to upgrade!

If you're from a nordic country, do NOT buy Steelseries 7g. The ' button is moved to where backspace used to be and backspace is smaller than usual. You basically have to relearn writing English on a keyboard

Oh, and I hate the way it feels, I keep miss clicking. But it was $160 so I don't want to stop using it >_<

lol, the filco/6G design has lasted for almost 20 years and still very popular now.
What about razer? I bet next year they will have like 10 more keyboards, and no one would know what is Black Widow lol.

Try selling it, it's still a good keyboard that other people want. Assuming it's in good condition, then buy something else- sounds like you don't like cherry blacks, so check out blues or browns. Geekhack.org has a really good classifieds section and I think it would be pretty easy to sell there.

I have been playing sc2 and working on my manuscript for almost three weeks on my mechanical keyboard (brown switches). My conclusion on this keyboard is I never want to buy a membrane keyboard again. Also If you give me the most fancy keyboard with media keys and lights that blink all the rainbows and awesome design... I dont care anymore because it can not match the feel when you press each key with your fingers. And by the way you can always style your keyboard with collored keycaps. ^^

The looks on the Filco or g6v2 is your opinion but the case of the filco or other decent mechanical keyboards cannot be compared to a case of a membrane keyboard. Maybe you should try a filco out it is worth to try it out ^^

/facepalm

Apart of the obvious fail that is you deciding what keyboard is best based on looks, I actually disagree, I think the best mechanical keyboards are the Filco ones, for performance AND looks, the Razer Blackwidow looks tacky and cheap, and in my past experience with Razer the products feel cheap and break down fairly easy.

Honestly if you're buying a keyboard so you can impress your friends with it's bulkiness and some backlights you're going about it the wrong way.
