IMBALANCED! - Introduction - Page 25

If you have criticism, you need to address the content, not the hosts. Idra and Artosis are 2 (1.5) Zerg players, but you can't point that out and then blanket them as biased. Respond to the content. You can't tell them to "get 2 Terran and Protoss players". That's fucking obtuse advice. "Yo just get 4 more high level players to record with you." Yes, I think everyone sees the value in getting it, but it's not practical. Respond to the content and use evidence / logic to back up your claims.

I'm mostly not interested in the video because everything that has been said has kind of been said one way or another through various channels. "Imbalance" talk in GENERAL, makes me annoyed. The fact they titled their video Imbalanced, well, they probably expected the reaction. Artosis and Idra aren't dumb, as much as they are... many things. No matter how professional the video, the very subject matter itself is almost inflammatory, meaning I'm not a huge fan. Just like any, no matter how constructive, SC2 and BW comparisons usually end in tears. Idra and Artosis did seem to attempt to be more balanced (hah!) than usual, I'll admit. I dunno. Basically: Video isn't bad, but whatever. Also a good example of good criticism.

I would absolutely watch if they got jinro and huk to talk/analyze balance with them.

Seriously, though. This should be fun. (No, I don't seriously think Idra is a horrible choice, but I think it's funny given the perception many people have of him as a player that's always whining about imbalance whenever he loses (or wins)...) User was warned for this post

It really loses all legitamacy to me warranted or not because of the fact zergs are complaining about a zerg matchup. I will watch future episodes but if you absolutely want to be taken seriously...you must get at least one of each race in there. Right now..its like watching fox news if you're a democrat...(i do not mention what political affiliations I have so lets skip that) User was warned for this post

Well emotions after a game doesn't count. What ever he loses to is imba at that point.

Maybe in future episodes, you can also address underused (underpowered?) unitts, and their current role in the game, as well as why they're underused. (that goes for spells/abilities as well, eg. I definetely welcome the show. Because it is a chance. On the one hand there is not much point in making whine and flame threads to flood the community forums, but to remain silent and accept the game as it is, because "we will figure out the way how it is supposed to be played." is no option either. I believe that there is a difference between simply whining and trying to reasonably talk about things that might be imbalanced or that at least should be carefully looked at. My impression from the first episode is that Artosis and Idra are trying to do the latter. It was no pointless QQ at all and even though both are Zerg players I believe they did the best they could to make it as unbiased as possible. I have no problems with balance discussions at all and I believe that they are necessary to actually improve the game and to help Blizzard to look at the stuff that needs to be taken care of. I only have problems with two things: A. To refuse any attempt to solve the "Balance issue" ny developping a new strategy B. To use imbalance as an excuse for one's own lack of skill. Idra said he was experimenting with Infestors to deal with Colossi, so I can't accuse him of A and even though I believe that he blames balance for some losses, he never refused to work on himself. If this is the attempt to get a balance discussion in a civilized manner going - then why not try it? We don't need balance-qq-whine-forum-garbage. But we need to talk about how to balance the game.

Isn't that kind of the point? Colossus aren't a choice, they are basically forced. Idra said... okay, was it in this video or his stream? that you couldn't nerf Colossus without strengthening something else. Whether that be stalker or whatever.

That could be way better if they take a T and P into that show. I watch Dimaga's stream and he does talk about these things actually :o I would kinda agree thought that if they want more credibility they should get other players too. As guests at least. I like to watch them talk about balance because even thought the conversation can be little biased, they are two smart guys. Only thing that concerns me is how long they plan to do this. I mean they have a good number of episodes ahead of them but how long can you talk about balance before you start to repeat yourself. But I'm waiting eagerly for the next episode

Like so many pointed out, there are credibility/ experience (with the 3 races) issues, but i will wait for more episodes before judging. I liked most of this first episode. The only thing that was...not so great, was the TvP discussion. Maybe the Colossus/ Phoenix is worthy of discussing? I really wait to see if anything Zerg related will be the focus any time soon. That will shut up the "haters" and give credibility to the show. Good luck!

At the same time IdrA has been playing the weakest race since beta and Artosis has been the same until recently. Even when there was evidence pointing to the contrary IdrA always had an excuse (which often times was valid) to stay with the "My race is horrible" mindset. And again, ditto for Artosis. How many times during the GSL haven't we seen the "Absolutely unstoppable terran push" that somehow ends up really not working out? Why doesn't the unstoppable push work? Well, the Terran obviously just played bad. It was actually not as bad in Season 4 thought. There's always one thing or another that is imbalanced versus Zerg. Hell, IdrA said WhiteRa was using unbalanced tactics when he just went for a shitload of colossi and IdrA went roach/hydra/no corruptors during the HDH (quite sure that was the one). Zerg eventually realized that corruptors were in fact useful, but at the time Protoss was just OP according to IdrA. So yeah, they do bring up valid points but I can't help but take it with a grain of salt, or however that expression goes. There hasn't been a time since the broken roaches where I've heard either speak of Zerg in a positive light when discussing game balance. Mildly interesting to listen to, but I can't really take it too seriously despite the attempts they had at sounding objective. But Hell, Artosis definitely has something going here. What will bring in more viewers than IdrA discussing imbalance? It does bring out the worst in all communities though, as we obviously saw in this thread. Like goddamn, this thread was like every GSL LR whine combined into one glorious pile of shit. Still, I enjoy listening to IdrA and Artosis so I'll keep watching them. If anything it's mildly interesting to hear.
