T6 recap (aka not sleeping for 30h sucks): Provinces gained this turn are interesting. Caelum slowed down to 1 province, Atlantis finally took another province for themselves, Abysia and Vanheim gained 2 provinces after last turn's halt and Ulm with Agartha are still going with their steady 1 prov/turn. Jotunheim's expansion has come to a grinding, SC affliction-getting halt. Ouch :D Incomes progressing kinda as one would expect, given the amount of provinces. Not a that big of a difference between anyone just yet. The Ulmish are going crazy with their site searching, what is this, 4 gems/turn increase?! Does it contain a site with ritual cost bonus? Just how much should we be scared of this Ulmish race, who currently seems more adept at magic than any other nation! 2nd in research, miles ahead of everyone but Jotunheim as well.
Despite successful expansion, Abysia's troop count has dropped. Could it be that we are seeing our first new fort being built? Or perhaps those indies packed a lot more punch than one might think.

RIP Sir Edward Blackfist, you Caelum supporting swine :D Despite his loss, Caelum's troop increase this turn is very high indeed. What could he be recruiting these fliers for? Should his neighbors start to shiver in fear?
A new mercenary, Obscuro the Hidden Master is avaliable. With no army coming alongside him and his usefulness being questionable, will finally someone other than Tolkien get their hands on these mercs?

Also, when do people usually start building temples? Or do you only build them places you need to recruit sacred units? Still wondering if my Vanheim sacred's are worth building, and what my non-sacred go-to units are (=

No, it takes very powerful magic for one to be able to view the world without fog. (or very thorough scouting) Perhaps as the game progresses further, people may have pics of interesting scenes to post.

wow what is this and why have I never heard of this game until now? Lovecraft's insanity inducing abominations as a playable race? This looks amazing.
This game looks ridiculously deep. How is the UI? Is the UI intuitive and does it create a good gaming experience when there are so many things to manage? (For example: I find the original xcom UI to be a nightmare to work with.) If the UI is good and not so tedious to work with, I may very well end up grabbing this game when it goes on sale or this weekend if I can't wait haha.

The UI is much improved from Dom3, I can say that much. Auto-recruitment, visual display of magic paths, etc. have helped the micro enormously.

Review this old LP and see if you agree with the basics of the UI. There's plenty of hotkeys to expedite things, but if you're playing something like Ermor or Lemuria or LA R'lyeh, you're going to spent alot of time microing if you're anal about it. :x

@ Scip: gtfo with your dirty, dirty mind. I don't have blood so I clearly can't crossbreed.
@ Capris: you're playing Vanheim, a race with notoriously horrendous research. Well, unless you decided to rush Const-2 for Dwarven Hammers and Quills (I would recommend it), but in any event your researchers are horribly cost inefficient.
Compare your Vanherse at 150/16r (for 7 research) versus my, say, Ice Crafter (45g/3r, 7 research). Even though upkeep is halved for the Herse because sacred, it's still horrendously lopsided in terms of cost-efficiency.
@everyone about Ulm: it doesn't matter that much. MA Ulm still has horribly constrained magic paths past the midgame, and there's only so much he can do with his pretender. It's his early game rush potential that you should be worried about.
and ofc, information is power so if you find a scout province, set it to autorecruit scouts. Information is power.

Thanks Lord Tolkien. If there are hotkeys and what not then I'm sure the UI will be fine. The graphics have an old school and nostalgic style which made me wonder if the controls were clunky like some TBS games from the 90's =P I'll give the link a read and see. Looks like an incredibly fun game though.

There are also no more true gem gens in the game (outside for a few unique artifacts), which has further cut down on the late game slog. The Dom4 meta is much more dynamic than the old Dom3 one.
Once upon a time you would end up massing like 100 bloodstones or clams for massive astral or earth or somesuch gem income.
It fueled the Dom4 lategame craze, as nations could hole up in their castles with literally no resources whatsoever elsewhere besides endless lists of indie-scouts with clams and such, and could just end up spamming fully-kitted Seraphs and other SCs, purely through clam income to win.
As for Seraphs, just to give the rest of you an idea, are:
Awe +7, Fire 4, Air 4, Astral 4, Holy 4, fire shield-14, Fire/Poison/Lightning Resist 15, Enc-1, eyelosses attackers, MR 18, 77hp, 7/16 flying MONSTERS. Imagine what it would look like kitted out.
Which is why to summon them you need Conj-9 and 144 astral gems a pop for Heavenly choir (comes with 3 harbingers) as MA Pythium or Marignon, or 100 gems for a Wish (and even higher astral). Only the Grigori Lords of Civilization (Himmon) are comparable, really, and some of the highest level unique blood summons. Elemental royalty barely holds a candle against them.

Turn 7 recap: The first throne has been claimed! KillerSOS (Atlantis) has gained the Lower Throne, which will give him faster dominion spread and a large amount of pure virgins to sacrifice. Too bad all he can do with them is watch the 3 blood nations in the game rage in envy :D
Provinces gained are quite interesting this turn. Ulm, Atlantis and Agartha haven't gained any, while Jotunheim, Caelum, Abysia and Vanheim has gained 2. Fun fact: so far, the amount of provinces gained for Abysia+Vanheim and Agartha+Ulm has been exactly the same!
The income difference has become more pronounced, as Jotunheim has about 30% income advantage over the bottom 3 nations (Abysia, Agartha and Atlantis). The fall and decreasing temperature are helping my (Jotun) and Caelum's economy as well. Vanheim has found their own magic site, a measly 1gem/turn though. No other magic sites were found this turn!
Research going just as before so far, with 1 exception: Caelum is shooting up in research at the same speed as the fastest nations (Jotunheim and Ulm) although those still have a headstart. Probably something to do with his first mage suiciding in a battle :D
What I found most interesting though is the army size. It has rapidly increased for everyone in the past 2 turns, especially for Atlantis who overcame both Abysia and Jotunheim. Army size can be a bit confusing. The way it works is, essentially, if you were to fit all of your units on a tactical map, how many squares would they occupy? So it does not necessarily reflect military strength, if you have elite heavy infantry for example. All of Abysia's units are very powerful heavy infantry, so their army is the smallest as expected. Caelum's armies are made of very large and also very pathetic birdpeople, so their army is the largest. A surprisingly large army is however owned by Vanheim! With medium to high quality troops, their army is the 2nd largest, just below Caelum. I can only attribute it to efficient expansion by Capricis.

The manual is actually really useful, just read it like you would a normal book, it's fun . If you don't like reading your shafted though.... .
