The fact that a protoss won in all but one game has me worried. A terran just won the GSL, and 3 zergs are at the top of MLG Arena.
They are hardly "OP" statistically, and very beatable at higher levels. I really don't want to see a bunch of race switches to protoss and other BS just because they don't want to pay attention to the actual current metagame and see that it's possible to handle them. That would be dumb.

I was thinking the exact same thing... I really hope this wont happen lol.

The interviews I have read from players, notably Flash state that they haven't even been watching VoDs from the established SC2 players, so it's natural that they haven't figured out a lot of what has been developed over the last 2 years

Hopefully they watch the SC2 games at MLG soon and see how every match-up actually plays.
Somehow I doubt they will though. :<

Wait, what?
The bolded is a matter of opinion. Best watch high level games, maybe play the race(s) and make up your own mind.

Proleague starting up again soon. can't wait lol.

Yeah, Team 8 vs CJ tonight already! I thought the opening day were the only games that were going to happen this week but I guess not.

I wonder whether there will be any casts for it. Would appreciate greatly, but would watch it anyways otherwise. Guess it's time to overcome the biological nerd clock inside me and start getting up early!

Does anyone else think this mixed format doesn't help anything?
Splitting training between does nothing to make strong players. I understand the want to bring SC1 fans to SC2, but play like that isn't the way. I know they are new to the game but it was sad watching the BW pros try to play SC2. A few had nice matches yesterday, but amazing code S play was followed by horrible code B play in the same game. Most of the BW players playing SC2 looked like gold league. To really bring in the SC1 crowd they should have mixed the top Sc1 with the top of SC2. Play both but with the masters on each.
All tonight showed is that all the players from BW are needing HoTS to hope to be relevant anytime soon.

zoom on face kicks ass... production is pretty awesome and mixed format idk its like bastardized... reserve judgement

What do you mean the actual current metagame lol. For all we know these guys are going to develop their own metagame.

The results are known but the matchups aren't? What?

May be the biggest mistake I saw from the terrans and zergs vs protoss is poor unit compositions. They were still making lots of marines and roaches into late game. Of course that's gonna get annihilated by high tech protoss armies. I think the concept of supply efficiency was only widely discovered around mid 2011 or so by the old SC2 players.

This. Crushed me to see Jaedong fail like that. His play really reminded me of Idra's early days where he would just macro and max out on roaches then get fucked over by forcefields. Only Jaedong's mechanics are freakin insaneee, same with Effort. Just give them time to figure out the game, and they'll be crazy good.

6h 18m [PL] Team 8 vs CJ
That's what the TL calendar says, so in about 6 hours.
It won't last nearly as long as opening day, probably about 2 hours total.

I don't think it's a matter of opinion. We've seen time and time again that given 2 players who aren't practicing SC2 12+ hours a day, Protoss will be the stronger choice. It's just easier, requires less grasp on mechanics and game timings. You can afford to miss all your timings because lategame you have the strongest 1A. If Terran and Zerg miss timings, GG.
