The order is: you critize the player -> doesn't care you tell the team -> doesn't care you tell the sponsors -> actual stage Nothing wrong with it tbh

Let's assume they are hard of hearing, go get the megaphone out! > Contacting sponsors hurts Esports as a whole, not just Quantic, not just Destiny. You are hurting every small team, every aspiring player, everyone who is sponsored by companies who just could pull a shitload of said sponsorship if they think the scene has a bad reputation or w/e <

Have you tried contacting Quantic about this or do you just assume that tons of other people have been contacting them about this for a long time? You could just as easily say that since the sponsors haven't reacted yet they obviously do not care about racial slurs being associated with their brand, but of course that would be silly. Maybe Quantic did not think everyone was so upset about this as suddenly everyone is. Obviously every sub 50 post member who is upset has already emailed Quantic many times, haven't you read the thread

Echoing this. Going to sponsors over stuff like this is overkill. And it doesn't just hurt the teams involved in a potentially irreparable way, it also hurts the scene as a whole. Companies are far less likely to invest in the scene if they see how overwhelmingly negative the fans get when something goes wrong. Sponsorship then becomes a risk not worth taking and then everyone loses as a result.

Seriously, this bloated community is full of people who either can't grow a thick skin or who can't grow up enough to learn acceptable human interaction. Destiny: Grow up. I thought I was done with all this tough guy stuff in high school. If you can't live in an adult world where you need to take responsibility for the thing that you say, then you fully deserve any repercussions you receive at the end of this whole fiasco. Destiny-Haters: Grow a thicker skin. Go out in the world and learn how to deal with assholes. They exist, and if you act like this every time you meet one you probably won't last long. Get out of your little bubble and learn to accept the fact that not everyone is going to be as politically correct as you want them to be. I've never seen so much shit flung over a non-issue. I love StarCraft, but this thread is downright disgusting. Thank you.

As a Chinese, I am very offended, but hey, it is the internet. When people lose they will be on tilt. It is absolutely normal. LOL a communist and a tibet advocate??? That is so contradicting........ To be honest, I had to google what "gook" means. It sounds like a racial slur, but I don't know what it means exactly. Unless Quantic does something, nothing will be done. He likes to troll and be a dick, and that's the appeal of his stream.

And when the team remains silent and the player sits in a thread vehemently defending his actions? This behavior did not come out of the blue. This is not something new for Quantic. I had no intention of emailing Razer until QxGDestiny decided that it was prudent to defend his actions in this thread. I am now SERIOUSLY reconsidering that.

Even just a small sorry would've done it. No let's stay childish, cause that's what humans are. In the end Destiny should atone?. So best bet is report him for BMing and hope more people do it, so he gets a small ban you will never know about.

I do not know nearly enough about you to make an assertion like that. I was merely pointing out the fact that trying to paint the opposition as 'politically correct zombies' was unhelpful. We disagree on a few points. First, you say that "[P]ublic use of racial slurs [...] has abso-fucking-lutely nothing to do with racism." I disagree. I think that publicly using or endorsing this language contributes to a culture of racism. While the speaker may harbor no ill-will to any minority group, if the use of this language is tolerated it can have wide-ranging negative cultural impacts. The intent of the speaker does not affect that in the least. I am not asserting that YOU are a racist. Once again, I do not know nearly enough about you. The next point on which we disagree is that you seem to hold that people, like me, who object to public use of racial slurs think that eliminating their use will solve all problems. I do not believe that at all. These are deep problems, and they require large-scale, difficult solutions (primarily in terms of economic policy). However, simply because it will not solve ALL problems does not mean that we should not attend to something that will help our culture. When people stand up and say that they do not accept racist/homophobic/misogynistic language (all of which you use publicly), even if they are expressing this in a small thread on the internet or to a Starcraft team manager, a small good is done. You need to make a logical argument linking the usage of racial terms and the growth of a culture of racism. What Destiny is saying is that all words derive their meaning from context; so even if a racial term is used, if it is said in a certain way (i.e. as the equivalent of an expletive in a moment of rage), then it is not racially offensive but merely an outburst of anger. So if we assume that the link is illogical, insofar as the usage of racist/homophobic/mysogynistic language is ultimately irrelevant in and of itself, then no meaningful "good" is accomplished in banning oneself or others from using these words - with the exception that people might feel a little better that you didn't rage at them. Also a typical counterargument to this is that, even if some statements are not offensive to the people who say them, they may be offensive to others. For instance there may be a person who is always offended by anyone who says the "n-word", regardless of context (even if it were an intellectual discussion on its effects on society). If this were the standard, then it could be logically extended to a ridiculous degree; as practically anything you say is going to be offensive to somebody devoid from context. Lots of people have bad memories that may be triggered by certain words, like bully or rape or bombs - should these words be effectively banned from the English language? The question isn't how to censor oneself so that no one is offended, and severely curtail people's rights in terms of free speech. The question is: What *should* people be offended by? What should be the intelligent standard that society should try to meet, rather than living life as determined by society's lowest common denominator? If I don't type "gg" or "glhf", should I force myself to because I offend certain sensitive people? What if I make political comments that are offensive to others? Or personal lifestyle comments? See in all of these cases no one forces you to alter your personal freedom of expression, because they understand that you have rights and freedoms, and they outweigh the discomfort others may feel if you *unintentionally* offend them. So too should it apply to this case. Destiny may say things that unintentionally remind certain people of racist behaviour - it may anger them, it may depress them...but that is not a strong enough argument to say that he should be forced to stop expressing himself in the way he does. The only argument that can be made is for him to not *intentionally* make enraged comments that are generically offensive to others based on their playstyle - which of course no one cares about and is a separate issue. *grammar edits as usual*

Do you, InControl, think that Quantic Gaming has never considered the business costs and benefits of having such a volatile personality on the payroll? So let me get this straight... destiny does this all the time: the community doesn't care. But somehow, because the community doesn't generally care, Quantic is supposed to clamp down on the guy who built his fame off that very attitude/behavior? When the community gets upsert, shit changes. Quantic hears this thread and they see the fervor, I can promise you that. But if you think that is somehow an excuse to react the MOST extreme way and potentially ruin a good thing for a LOT of people then you are way off base. If you actually feel strongly about this watch his stream. Each time he says something SS that shit and submit it. Make a thread, tweet etc.. but don't fucking go to the sponsors. Quantic and Destiny WILL respond/change. Destiny uses streaming to pay for his life.. if it is bad for business he will change, he has even said that himself.

Now, here's the fun part. Without sounding like a bigot, I want you to tell me which words I can and cannot say, and why certain groups of people are special enough to have certain words not said for them, and the others are unworthy of said "protected status". Good luck! TO DESTINY I have a question for you regarding your most recent racial slur... I asked you the same question during your rants about the n-word and you never answered. when you said it (g**k), what did it mean to you ? Why did you use that word in apparent anger? Was there no other way to express your emotions at the time ? Was the word used to entertain your viewers or to insult your opponent ? - if yes, why would you think that word would be entertaining to your viewers, or insulting to your opponent ?? try to answer these questions without sounding like a bigot..
