I was playing vs QuanticDestiny a few hours ago where he was calling me a "gook" and a bunch of offensive words. Now I understand that one may get frustrated if he/she loses in a game (I've been there myself). I also understand that it is his stream and he may say that he can do whatever the hell he wants in his stream. However, he stands now as a "community figure" who has the reach to influence thousands of viewers daily and can skew the public's view of sc2 community in an extremely negative direction.
Isn't it reasonable to expect a level of professionalism from a player that plays on a professional team? I just don't think spurting out racial slurs left and right in front of a large audience is why Quantic sponsors Destiny to market their team.
As a note, I don't think QuanticDestiny is a true racist. However, I do believe that ignorance towards his excessive use of racial slurs would eventually lead to tolerance within the community and that would be a very dangerous outcome.

Destiny?
Racial slurs?

Looks like you allined him. Getting allined by Terran does that too people.
Obviously Destiny should know better then that tho.

This was the reason that Destiny was released from compLexity, if I am not mistaken, and I'm sure Quantic hired him knowing he does this sort of thing, so I don't think they have a problem.

i would grow a pair of balls

If it bothers you so much go email quantic and the sponsors. Or you can go get reddit to be your personal army,

No, Quantic does not care. they signed him up frankly for this purpose

It's not acceptable, but it is Destiny. It's what he's known for, unfortunately. If his team had a problem with it they would have never signed him.
|
Firing him is the only solution.
+ Show Spoiler +But that won't happen, because reddit likes him unlike Orb.

It honestly is something he's done for a long time, and it's not really a surprise to me. It's part of what I think Destiny is. A pretty good player with a slight anger management problem. He can be funny in his BM, but he can also be sad. Sure you could expect some sort of professionalism from him, but I personally focus on the gameplay of a gamer, not their personality.

I really dislike Quantic for allowing Destiny to stay on their team. They pretty much trade professionalism for money.
Horrible team.

There's a lot of threads about this subject already, your claim is more like supporting evidence of this and not really a subject of it's own. You should probably just post this in one of those threads.
|
Meh, if it didn't offend you, why make a thread about it? Faggot is just as offensive as gook, and you get called that pretty often online.
Also people say things when they're mad - and since you don't have a natural, I think I know why he was mad.

If it had been asians picking your cotton y'all would act immensely offended.

The fact that Destiny gets good money from streaming this kind of stuff on top of whatever his team does for him... I'm amazed there hasn't been a big cleanup about it. A large number of fanboys means you can get away with a lot, I guess.

And how exactly is this new?

Always love good hypocrisy, idra and destiny can say whatever they want, others(read: orb) not so much. I personally think Quantic is quite aware of this personal... "trait" of his, and yer I guess you could report him via Bnet. Still the community should look down on this behavior, but alas this is one of the reasons Destiny is popular :/

My thoughts exactly. There is a SotG he is on where he talks about it a lot with iNcontroL and them, don't remember exactly which episode (not exactly easy to go through those sometimes.) But the jist of what he said is that he never asked to be a community figure and never tries to be one. When you are on his stream, he wants to be himself (and says that is what people should expect.)

A caster should never be allowed to get away with that kind of stuff. A player on the other hand, you can be much more lenient towards. They are there to play the game, nothing else. I still think we were all to harsh on him (mainly because he had already changed away from that behavior.)
