Mmm, for me as a protoss player, terran just feels awkward to play. The way my hand has to be on the keyboard feels clunky and things don't flow well. I have not been able to get a good position even with the changeable hotkeys and whatnot. I was able to pick up zerg ("pickup") very quickly in team games with my friends (macro/micro, not builds etc) and even though its obviously not even close to my protoss, it's a hell a lot better than my terran. Basically, terran just feels harder to play.

I rarely play against terran(terran myself). I'd say approximately 6/10 are tvz, 3/10 are tvp, and 1/10 are tvt.

I played Protoss for about 2 weeks after release and then switched to Terran ever since and I find I play fewer games every season. The main reason for me is all the nerfs. I love how SC2 is a game that's constantly changing and that's what has kept me into it for the long haul, but I find that as a Terran player even when things change in the metagame nothing ever feels fresh or new. I watched my Zerg and Protoss friends after patches playing the game with a renewed vigor; discovering a new effectiveness for their infestors or warp prisms or whatever that they could only dream about before. As a Terran, it feels like each patch is just forcing me back to good 'ol marine/tank. I feel like I've missed out on a big part of the long-term SC2 experience having never experienced the joy of seeing one of my units buffed (except maybe the raven; but I didn't find that buff to have a massive effect on gameplay).

Well as someone who recently bought a spare account during a sale ($30 yeah!) to play as Terran, I can see why it may be discouraging for people. I was placed into mid-Diamond after my placements (it was an account I had created with a guest pass a year ago, hence how I could bypass platinum), and proceeded to get rolled 3 games in a row by zergs before winning due to not having a clue what to do. It seems like unless your mechanics are really really good and your builds are locked down perfectly you will get stomped. I haven't played anymore games since then because I have been working purely on mechanics and depot timings. However, it also seems like once you get your mechanics up to snuff you can easily begin to exploit weaknesses in other players. The game I won (other than all my placements) was a TvT against one of those guys who just 3raxes every game and I managed to kill him with a 1/1/1 expand with cloaked banshees.

Please elaborate on how the other races get "better" and you just get "worse." Don't just list nerfs because that does not necessarily mean that you are now worse in comparison to another race. This game is pretty balanced.
As far as why there is fewer idk. I personally main toss and off zerg. I find terran VERY boring to play. The only aspect I like is bio drops everywhere because i find the multi tasking the only fun part.

A lot of diamonds-low masters are always claiming that games are extremely hard for them. I feel that's entirely because they didn't have to pick much skills when playing through the lower leagues. For example, those playing zerg would already face this difficulty through the lower leagues if they are lacking severely in their mechanics. But, terrans only face it at diamond, or even low masters. I think the difficulty of terran that everyone is talking about is probably only applicable at the highest level and it doesn't affect diamond- low master terrans at all. Once zerg knows how to scout and survive the stupid all ins low level terrans do, and they just mass lings and banes it's really hard for the terran to win without really good micro.

Terran feels a lot like it did in BW to me. Once you get to a point where you're pretty decent and the players you play against are pretty decent, it's much harder to win as a Terran player. But there is also a great payoff in that Terran is really amazing if you get good enough to break through that barrier and learn to play at the highest level. I know that some people may roll their eyes when Artosis says that Terran was the hardest race in BW, but it's one of the few things that I really really agree with him on. I played a ton of BW for years and my Terran was always way worse than my Zerg and Protoss because it was just so much harder to play than the other two. That's why I stopped playing Terran altogether after a few years.
Terran in SC2 feels the same way. At lower levels where everyone sucks, it's anyone's game. But once you start getting into diamond/masters, you have to do a lot more work than your Zerg/Protoss counterparts to win. Your armies are slower, a lot of your units are extremely fragile, and you reinforce at a much slower rate. But we've seen how players like MMA and MVP just crush everyone because they have that absolutely tip-top control and multitasking that allows them to get the most out of Terran whereas the rest of us mere mortals struggle against players at our own skill level because it's harder for us to win in a straight up, long macro game. Combine that with the amount of shit Terrans get from the community both here and on places like reddit as well as b.net itself, and it's understandable why we'd be in shorter supply.

What I feel, as a Terran player, is that Terran is missing idol players. What I mean by that is players that are doing really well and have huge fanbase (usually because they use unusual strategies). Just look at the crowd cheering for HerO, Leenock, WhiteRa, Stephano, Destiny, Naniwa, Huk, Kiwikaki and more. The only terran that gets the same attention is Boxer, but I don't see too much of him these days. Another terran I just love to watch is qxc, but I haven't seen many recent games of him either.
We really need a Terran who is willing to explore more strategies, and be successfully. I'd just love seeing someone going mech in a TvP without all-ining, ghosts in TvT, mass ghosts in any matchup, mass air in any matchup, (use raven), or any other nonstandard strategy and still take games off some of the best players in the world.

Higher level Terran is just much harder to play. Hell, even diamond and plat it's already hard. You gotta be so damn active

I've been considering switching for months. I continue to improve my APM, multitasking and macro but every time I climb a step closer to grandmaster some patch shits on all my improvement. It's extremely discouraging, especially as you can tell Blizzard don't quite know what they're doing simply by looking at how many times they've changed the Bunker build time, or how many patches it took for them to nerf 4gate.
I'm really sick of Blizzard trying to fake balance by looking exclusively at results in Korea, where a majority of the best players pick Terran simply because of Boxer and Nada's legacy. At least that's my theory. For now, I still play Terran because there's a lot of players to root for, Tanks are awesome and managing drops is challenging, but I miss the days when tanks were viable in TvP and medivacs actually moved faster than normal ground armies.

I just feel like Terran race is almost "one dimensional.". I love watching Protoss and Zerg streams, but for some reason Terran streams just aren't the same. I played Terran from Bronze through mid Plat. I felt like a hit some type of skill ceiling, and couldn't get to the next "level" so I started messing around with Zerg in custom games. It was just so much more fun. I started playing Zerg on ladder, took the hit down to Gold, but now play mid Diamond Zerg. I've never really liked Protoss though, mostly because of the warp - in mechanic.
Also, I think people like the macro style, or that is at least the sense I get, and Zerg is debatably the best race for that, followed by Toss, and then Terran. (imo) Also, Idra, Nestea, July, and actually Destiny especially helped encourage this change. I was watching Destiny a ton when I made the switch and it was definitely an influence. I've heard similarly from other people, that Destiny influenced them to switch to Zerg, which also goes back to what I said before, Terran streams are just boring to watch.
Terran is also a very common starter race, just because it has the most "basic" macro mechanics, in the sense, you build buildings that produce units which is the usual mechanic in most other RTS games. That might be a reason why it seems like so many people switch, because they start out with Terran without trying the other races too extensively and then realize Terran isn't for them.

i get around 50% P 30% Z and 20% T in ladder EU
|
This is simple.
It's because the best 3/5, 6/10 players in the world play Terran. If MVP, MMA, jjakji, etc all switched to Zerg right now, they'd still be in the top 10 or extremely close to it. Because you have a high percentage of the best players in the world playing Terran, they seem like they keep needing nerfs. I've felt for about a half a year now that at the "Mid-masters - Top 8 Masters" skill level as a NA player, Terran is extremely hard to play. These pros make terran look so broken. However at the "average" skill levels Terran is so hard in my opinion.
People kept complaining because there were so many Terrans in GSL and that Terran was broken. Did anyone else realize that Terran is way more popular in Korea than the other races? Wonder why? Probably because a nation of young kids grew up idolizing Boxer/NaDa's.
However I'm only mid masters so what would I ever know? I also enjoy massing 4v4 RT games, so what else would I know? Oh wait a minute: I knew in THE FIRST MONTH OF THIS GAME THAT HELLIONS NEEDED A STRONG NERF from 4v4 RT, and they didn't get nerfed for almost a year until "IdrA" got "abused" by Boxer". All it was for a year of 4v4 was mass ling, hellions, into blink stalker or DT.
Step back and look at what happens with the pro scene, winners, the races and when they win, and how blizz reacts to balance in the next patches. It's hilarious and kind of pathetic that they just balance the game around the top 0.001 percent of players.
SC2 is such a great game, but blizzard's changes/vision going forward really discourages me. Does anyone else think getting a perfect 50% win rate of all the races does not show perfect balance?

I´m sorry to break it to you guys but T is apparently pretty hard to play as. For all 3 MUs they need to micro a lot and Macro is always necessary.
Maybe in Bronze where everybody sucks T is a favourite race but beyond that its a lot of effort. I can see why people would get turned away from that.Im fine with T being the hardest race though
