I switched to zerg for a while but I'm back as terran to kick some ass after seeing some Dragon's stream, he made me realize it's the race i wanna play :D

Yes, and that's why we are witnessing the disappearance of Terrans from the ladder.

And good riddance I say if that is true.

Quite frankly I haven't noticed any decline in my personal encounters.

As a former Terran, I found it too difficult. I couldn't micro manage well enough, so I switched to Zerg.

This thread makes me want to switch to terran again just because it will make me feel special. Its not a big deal really, at one point people will forget how frustrating it is to play against a good terran on the ladder and their ZvT's and PvT's will begin to suck hard. At that point the "OMFG TERRAN OP" threads will pop up everywhere and we will see a rise of terran players again hoping that they can take advantage of the slightly overpowered race thats actually pretty good but unpopular due to the high APM requirements.

Except this isn't a new trend. If that really is what would happen, it would have already happened.

Kinda makes me ashamed to be terran to have all this whining.

Yes, it's hard. Just over-come your wall. Why not look at it another way? When you are finally able to micro/macro perfectly, no toss will ever be able to beat you.

I don't necessarily agree but that's just my bias.

However, I play terran cause I think it's extremely rewarding when you win AND play well. I mean shit like multiprong drops in like 2-3 spots along with a push in front of your opponent's base. It's a lot of fun and incredibly tense moments like that which make Terran great for me.

the best part as a player who has always played zerg is that most of them are really bad at ZvZ

Personally I don't see the situation that is described in this topic at all. I am silver league on EU and I always used to play Random but recently I switched to Terran because I wanted to focus on one race to practice for cups. Also when I play ladder I don't have the impression that I am not meeting Terran players anymore. There are actually quite a lot.

For me Terran is definitely the easiest race in SC2 as a low level player. In SC1 it was Protoss but they got harder in SC2 because you need to use force fields now which takes a bit of micro. And with Zerg it is just very hard to know when to make which type of unit with the larva you have.

It is always a bit hard to judge if your opponent in a ladder game has about the same skill level as you but I would say that I can probably beat anything that a Protoss of the same skill level can do with my Terran and a Zerg of the same skill level will only give me big trouble if he goes for masses of Zerglings and Banelings.

I totally agree with you. I play terran because it's just fun, and you can basically use every unit which is pretty awesome.

1 basing is less viable with the maps being universally larger + the recent patch changes. Lots of people who played terran in all leagues did it because it was the unequivocally the best race for 1 base play.

I just found Terran macro incredibly unsuited for a player like me. I'd get extremely frustrated when I play 1v1 Terran, as the only mu I would win was TvT. I felt sluggish and slow. Then I switched to Zerg and immediately won the following 7 matches. Go figure.

I'm in university for engineering, and so I don't really have much time to be playing terran and playing well. Unfortunately, master league terran just requires too much apm to play appropriately and I can't really manage the stress and practice to maintain that during all my studies. Just switched to zerg for this season, and it's a lot more stress free in terms of mechanics. Although the stupid rushes that work on Zerg still exist, it still is a lot less to worry about mechanically; ESPECIALLY vs protoss.

I thought I was on my way to getting promoted then I lost 9 games in a row. I haven't laddered since then.

well there's less terran playing based on sc2ranks, so it's not just EU silver league, or any bias. it's just how it is. and Terran is very easy at low levels to play, but it gets harder as you rank up and up. there are more things to consider and more multi-tasking to be effective.

Because engaging a Protoss army is really hard. You have two units that can outright kill a bioball if we don't have enough of the counters. Protoss has cheaper upgrades and can get them much faster than Terran. If we make one mistake in micro, we can lose a lot of our army due to splash damage. And as you get higher in leagues, Terrans need better multi-tasking, and micro to keep up with Protoss armies.

And how can that not be said to be true of marines and marauders?

Stop taking specific examples and trying to apply them to whole matchups. Like Day9 was saying in his daily today, it removes from the thousands of different situations that can occur, in which some "counters" are actually we against the thing that they are meant to "counter".

Just stop it.

All the races have their own strengths/weaknesses. Some parts are easier/harder than others. Also, some players are more aligns with some playstyles than others, so naturally they find other things harder.

Get over yourselves.

Just to help, i may never experience how hard it must be for zergs to hit their injects perfectly, because the warp gate mechanic isn't as punishing, likewise, they won't understand how hard REALLY good forcefields cast rapidly in a non wasteful way can be. Because the races are different and it is good that way. Note, i left Terran out not because i believe they don't have hard things to do, but because i do not wish to fuel a fire.
The world is ending what should we do about it?
