by Wax
The final week of January gave us four different winners in four separate cups, with herO, Clem, ByuN, and Classic all claiming first place prizes.

January 26: WardiTV Mondays #71

The weekly cups are delivering more upsets as of late, and WardiTV Monday #71 continued the trend with SHIN defeating Clem in the RO16 and Nicoract eliminating ShoWTimE in the RO8. However, neither of these players would feature in the finals, as they ended up setting the table for a clash between Classic and herO in the finals.
While the match-up between Korea's two top Protosses is usually decided by dueling all-ins, this particular series diverged slightly from the formula as we got to see macro-ish play in games four and five. Even so, there was a herO-esque twist to game five, as he nearly blew his early game lead thanks to walling in several Probes into his main and having his random DT tech switch stonewalled. Despite this, herO had built enough of an early lead to close the game out anyway, clinching the weekly title 3-2 (VOD (2h 50m start)).

January 26: Monday Night Weeklies #38

Clem took down Monday Night Weeklies in an impressive all-TvP run, defeating LetaleX, MaNa, MaxPax, and ShoWTimE (x2).
While ShoWTimE did lose to Clem 1-2 in the finals (and 0-2 in an earlier round), he definitely deserves a shoutout for actually taking a map off of Clem in a 36-minute epic. Clem has looked nearly invincible in TvP turtle scenarios over the past couple of months, but ShoWTimE was still able to outlast his foe and grind out an impressive victory (VOD (Polish)).

January 27: PiGosaur Cup #66

ByuN capitalized on the absence of top contenders in PiGosaur Cup to rise above the competition and seize first place. However, it was hardly a walk in the park with both Cham and Percival taking ByuN to five games. Percival looked especially impressive against ByuN, even besting him in a protracted macro game on Taito Citadel. However, Percival's gamble on proxy-Marauders cost him the series in game five, with ByuN holding the line to seal his victory (VOD).

Classic and herO met again in the finals of KSL #85, where Classic got his revenge with a 3-0 victory (VOD).
