And yeah, I said it was 113-115 LOL.
The scorecard IS ALWAYS less variant than fans, commentators, and for fucks sake, forum posters think. But I think it should have been split decision 115-113, 113-115, 113-115 on JMM's favor and at worst, 114-114 on one of those cards and therefore a draw.
But people who said 117-111, that never happens. But to people who said 120-108 you truly don't know shit about boxing, since you ride your scorecards off momentum which never happens.
Pacquiao clearly won 3 rounds JMM clearly won 4 rounds, and 2 rounds were slightly his favor 3 rounds were really either way.
You'd think it would go 115-113 for the most part, with rounds that way, but that just means that almost all the split rounds would have go to Pacquiao to go 116-112 on the one card, 115-113 to Pacquiao would have to be only slightly less so, and 114-114 was the only more reasonable one. props yo and im not being sarcastic. but if Pacquiao was the challenger and Marquez was the champion that fight would have been called the other way then maybe?
It doesn't matter who the challenger and who the champion is. It matters who the underdog is in the public eye, and who the favorite is.
If Marquez were the favorite, pacquiao were the underdog, and we saw an opposite situation of the pucnhes being thrown, then Marquez wins. Fact is though everyone knew Marquez was the underdog and every move he makes is heightened which is why we THINK the scorecard is 117-111 Marquez (which is absolutely fucking retarded, its 115-113 Marquez on average, especially since Marquez didn't try to WIN round 12, he tried to LIVE round 12. If he had put up a better fight in round 12 thats a 2 point swing).

Completely 100% fucking agree with this. JMM threw away round 12 thinking "Ok all I need to do is NOT get knocked out, or not knocked DOWN TWICE. If I stay on my feet for all but one time, then I should be okay"
He should have gone into round 12 with the mindset that there can be 8 more rounds, and that he NEEDS TO WIN ROUND 12. think about it. 116-112 turns to 115-113, 115-113 turns to 114 all, and the 114 all goes in his favor. If he didn't puss out round 12 then he gets at worst another draw (even though he didnt' deserve the draw in Pac vs JMM 1 if people saw that fight and THAT scorecard).

boxing isnt about being agressive, its aobut boxing. Marquez outboxed Pacquiao tonight.

THIS. Marquez threw that round away because he thought he was ahead. A bit more aggression would have made this a clear draw, and people would be clamoring for a 4th fight to no end.

Pacquiao vs Marquez IV!
Lets do it!
Poll: Who will win this fight?Pacquiao (45) 87% Marquez (7) 13% 52 total votes Your vote: Who will win this fight? (Vote): Pacquiao (Vote): Marquez
Are you.. dumb? Do you know how judges would judge? Pacquiao controlled the fight. He was the aggressor. Landed more punches. How does that not account for not doing anything at all?

Power punches: Pacquiao 117 of 274 (43 percent) Marquez 100 of 254 (39 percent)
Pacquiao landed 176 of 578 punches - 30 percent. Marquez landed 138 of 436 - 32 percent

if those stats are correct than there is no arguing.
"Pacquiao earned a minimum $22 million for the fight, while Marquez got $5 million"

You're probably right. But, I still have Floyd on the top of the list even the time he retired after the Hatton fight. This just shows that Manny didn't improve as much as people say he did since the Dela Hoya fight. It's just great matchmaking to make Pacquiao look good.
I don't know. But if you put intangibles aside and review Pac's performance tonight. How do you see a Pac vs May fight unfolds? As they all say, styles make fights. Marquez's style is very similar to Floyd, except Floyd is much quicker, stronger(?), much more accurate and his timing/reflexes is godly.
Floyd vs Pacquiao is gonna be a one-sided fight and it's not gonna be funny. Just my two cents.

compubox is suspect at best, for the love of god don't cite it as a reference.

stevemaxboxing: Funny, but two of the 3 judges had Manny winning the 12th. the one who had MP winning by 4(Trowbridge) had him losing it. Hmmmm

That decision was a disgrace. I have a hard time believing the decision was based purely objectively on those 12 rounds of boxing.

Agression has fuck all to do with how you're supposed to score boxing. Emphasis on clean, EFFECTIVE punching.

I mean come on guys, I read more negative things against Pac than Mayweather with his last fight. It was a great fight.

What a shame to end a good night of fighting with such an obviously corrupt decision.
Well, that's not fair. I suppose the decision might not have been because of Bob "Racist" Arum but because of incompetence.
Go away Manny. I at least respected you for your boxing if not for your horrible political views. Now I have nothing but contempt for you.

for all you guys hating on manny and calling this corruption, if it is actual corruption then floyd mayweather's 40+ wins to 0 losses is also fluke. what's even more suspect is floyd's perfect record, dont' give me that crap about corruption in this fight if you're not going to suspect floyd of cheating his way into a perfect record cause i doubt anyone can attain a perfect record not pushing the pace.

Interesting stats, would prove my point that the underdog gets more hype for all the small shit he does. Which was clearly the case in this fight, but still, I can't agree with 116-112.
Pacquiao clearly wins rounds: 1, 6, 12 Marquez clearly wins rounds: 2, 5, 7, 8 Marquez probably favored in rounds: 10, 11 Nobody can argue either man won rounds: 3, 4, 9
So in the wildest of worlds where every sort of close round goes to Pacquiao, he wins 116-112, thats why I cna't agree with it. I can agree with 115-113, and 114 all. But I'm just surprised zero scorecards went to Marquez. I'd have called the fight a draw at worst.

Floyd is faster but not really stronger, Floyd rarely has a hard hit in any of his fights, it is true that they are both counterpunchers though. But Floyd is known for his defense and speed, definitely not his strength or punching prowess.
That said, Pacquiao is known to be even faster than floyd is.

Just make a highlight reel of that fight for each fighter. Manny hardly landed anything noteworthy and got rocked regularly.

Looking at how the rounds actually go its not obviously corrupt, its just obviously crazy.
And its funny that you call Bob Arum the racist when Floyd has been on record for saying the most homophobic and racist statements I've ever heard out of a boxer.
Stop listening to commentators, they're commentators and not scorekeepers for a reason.
