Ya, that second part is probably what's bothering Major. I mean most people here can't even remember why Taeja skipped his matches and are falling all over themselves to excuse them (the benching starters discussion that came from no-where). If it were someone else, maybe it would be a bigger deal, that's life. On January 16 2014 08:00 DJHelium wrote: Ah I get your point! So global points among those participating WCS AM last year. I can see that. While this criteria is starting to sound contrived, it would make sense.

A player forfeiting in SC2 is similar to benching your entire team. If a professional team just decided to not play a match because they were too tired, they would probably be fined a very large amount of money. He was tired after his group and he has a history of wrist issues, also it was challenger at the very end of the year. If Taeja didn't play his match I seriously doubt it was to spite the community so calm down and quit yer bitchin.

I was really excited when I was proved correct after saying Taeja had superstar qualities in him. Now as a near-bonjwa after his record run this summer, we're going to see him crush some more face in WCS-NA. Good luck noble stallion, may your keystrokes be swift and precise.

IMO it's based on bullshit. aLive got semifinal, 6th place, and a Ro32... TaeJa got challenger league, semifinal, and Ro16... Even Revival did better than TaeJa with a 2nd place, Ro16, and Ro32... ~_~ Also Scarlett did better than TaeJa with semifinal and 2 Ro16s...

I think it's kind of a stretch though. It'd be more like a tennis player not playing his match and forfeiting the tournament. There are a lot of things that are wrong with comparing eSports to more mainstream sports. Pro football for instance has millions of dollars invested in individual players, playing for billion dollar teams, in a league setting to move towards a single elimination tournament. Doesn't really compare, especially when the game at the time doesn't necessarily mean anything. I think if the New England Patriots were playing in a tournament for challenger level money you'd probably see them forfeit a tournament now and again.

Okay near bonjwa might be an exageration, but July, Jaedong and Bisu were near-bonjwas in BW with ~5 championships a piece. Taeja has won that many in the space of about 6 months, at the least it is certainly an impressive achievement to be consistantly dominant like this.
