I was really excited when I was proved correct after saying Taeja had superstar qualities in him. Now as a near-bonjwa after his record run this summer, we're going to see him crush some more face in WCS-NA. Good luck noble stallion, may your keystrokes be swift and precise. Near Bonjwa? Oh lol please just be fanboy hyperbole.... Okay near bonjwa might be an exageration, but July, Jaedong and Bisu were near-bonjwas in BW with ~5 championships a piece. Taeja has won that many in the space of about 6 months, at the least it is certainly an impressive achievement to be consistantly dominant like this.
Can't even beat elfi + Show Spoiler +Furthermore, you can argue that Taeja is "near-bonjwa" for 3,000 pages, but all you need is three letters to prove that he isn't: GSL
The guy hasn't won a single tournament in Korea, and he hasn't won a single official WCS event.

Well, this clears up a spot in code A, making it easier for foreigners to get in there, so maybe not? Taeja is good guy. He lets Minigun win Challenger last season, then takes a Korean's place in premier. Truly looking out for the foreigners.

Ah yes, the classic "He didn't win every single game ever therefore bad" argument. I am on a strict notice to monitor my behaviour on these forums, so I will refrain from further argument beyond this: Taeja smashed the Liquipedia ELO ratings from WoL and HotS, and set an unprecedented Aguillac rating as well.
He very much deserves to be in premier of NA - I wouldn't be upset if he was seeded into premier KR.
Now I have life goals to attend to, so farewell ! GL Taeja in WCS.

BW had less tournaments than SCII and SCII tournaments don't have the same quality(ie level isn't there since he gets to play foreigners and then some Koreans who may or may not be top level). To clarify more: OSL/MSL in BW always had the top players in the game and the qualifiers were quiet difficult to get through. GSL mentions earlier are also true. Is it impressive? yes, for sure but nowhere near bonjwa imo.

GG you lose
No one is arguing Taeja is bad, we're just saying that calling him near-bonjwa is laughable. You cannot call someone a bonjwa in BW if they hadn't won a single MSL or OSL right? Taeja hasn't won a single GSL ever and hasn't won a WCS tournament this year. Now you can call him the special events king though, because he does great at smaller foreign tournaments

GG you lose No one is arguing Taeja is bad, we're just saying that calling him near-bonjwa is laughable. It's just too bad that SCII doesn't have a central tournament like OSL/MSL where you have the toughest competition to see who's really the best. GSL had it until WCS came out and fragmented that ><;

That said, maybe NASL meant to say they picked the player from WCS AM with the most WCS points globally.
From my perspective I think that's what they meant.
Also, don't you guys think that it's highly illogical for Hack to make this move? No offense on Hack's skills (for he surely is a good player), but he's middle of the pack in Korea at best. Why would you give up a spot in the premier league of an easier tournament to go through (I assume) qualifiers of a much harder tournament?
The only reason I can think of is StarTale's difficulty to keep funding him in America. I really hope I'm wrong with that.

Taeja was the player, participating in WCS AM last year that gained the most points. Pretty sure some math people determined that Revival got more points. Honestly though, is Revival going to play in WCS AM if he doesn't end up on a team? Who will pay for him to go to America if he plays in the live portion? In WCS AM itself yes, Taeja got more overall, most of all WCS AM players. More than Bomber? Bomber has 4425 in total, Taeja 4250. This is according to Liquipedia.
Bomber never played in WCS AM, so yes.

You are all sooo fucking wrong, Taeja has way more points than Revival, they only count the WCS AM points, yes - but all points you earn in any tournament is assigned to the region you are assigned to.
This means that if you go to the 2013 WCS portal and look at the list of all the wcs points, you just look for the region tag they have, and all those points have been earned for the WCS in that region - sigh how ignorant some people are...

Haven't liked his style so much, but I keep great respect for Taeja as a player and as a guy, wish him best of luck! Let's hope he won't retire soon as he stated recently. And despite so many good terrans, he was the most successful one for 2013, even without wcs title.

His parents told him not to retire so he won't.

Respect to Hack, man balls to try it out in Korea and not just a free ticket to Blizzcon in America.
