I thinking nerfing Snipe to do 25 damage to everything is a bit too much.

I propose:

Snipe deals 45 damage to biological, 25 to Massive. Energy nerf I'm not sure about.

Phoenix's range will be upgraded to 6 after researching the fleet beacon upgrade... what is the Phoenix's starting range? And what is the Mutalisk's range?

Phoenix range is a good idea, but from the fleetbeacon????

Fleatbeacon is already 300/200, so this will pretty much be the most expensive range upgrade in the game, before you even factor the actual cost of the upgrade

Maybe more carrier play will come from this though, which would be cool.

EDIT: While thinking about other range upgrades, I can only think of Colossus and Hydralisks. Are these really the only two range upgrades in the game? I feel like range upgrades added a lot of depth to the stages of the game in BW... idk. Seems weird that are only two, if that really is the case.

BW had marine, dragoon, goliath, observer vision, and hydralisk. hmm

Only real upside is that snipe will 2 shot infestors now instead of leaving them with 1 hp. Otherwise snipe is pretty much useless now. I would almost have preferred them implementing a forced cooldown on snipes than to nerf it to uselessness against most units.

As a terran i can't say this is too bad it will be nice to have a better time sniping off HTs and tbh i think it will create a cooler turtle style in tvz to keep safe from tech switches (nukes could be more popular), I think the main issues will be against broodlords but i think if people learn how to spread vikings better it cant be too bad.

About goddamn time we saw the MULE change. Doesn't balance gold minerals tho considering map design still usually benefits one race over another.The snipe change is also very welcome, tho that is a pretty big dmg nerf. Will have to see how it plays out. The phoenix change may end up being the biggest change in the end.

I prefer small/smart sets of changes like this over massive patches which can cause unforseen consequences.

Idra said ghosts were broken a couple of months ago. Everyone calls Idra a whiner because of it. Months later, the ghosts two main abilities are nerfed. Anyways, this is the best patch ever. Blizzard is FINALLY starting to listen to the community. This has me excited for the expansion and future balance changes.

I have a genuine question, I don't mean it as balance whine. There are quite a few pro terrans who will be reading this - how will you be dealing with zerg lategame now when they do ultralisk switches after broods etc?

The only good thing about the snipe change is that now infesters can be killed in 2 snipes - before the 1 tick of regen between snipes would mean that it would require 3:

Before:
Infester health: 90
Snipe dmg: 45
Required snipes: 3 (because of 1 tick of regen)

After:
Infester health: 90
Snipe dmg: 50
Requried snipes :2

Overall though... I feel the snipe change is too much. Zerg late game tech switches, and infester/brood will be too powerful.

I wish this means that snipe will now work beyond biological units as Protoss has a lot of Psionic units... Sentries, Archons, Warp Prism and Motherships. I would really love to snipe those.

25+25 seems like a pretty painful Snipe nerf to me. Not only will it affect Ghosts vs. Zerg tier 3, but also snipes vs. things like Marines (will take 2 hits instead of 1) and Zealots (will take 6 hits instead of 4)

I would have preferred something like 45 -20 vs. massive, as BL and Ultras are both massive.

Instead what you get is Snipes that are best vs. Queens, Infestors, Ghosts, High Templar and Dark Templar, and crap vs. other stuff.

Snipe now kills Infestors in 3 hits instead of 4. Same for Queen.

I think that the changes are pretty good overall, though it feels silly to nerf TvZ when the MU wasn't really broken. Would have liked to see a T buff for some unit, like Viking movespeed or something to make up for that.

Does anyone else find it strange that snipe won't even kill a zergling now? I mean, nobody would snipe lings, obviously, but it just feels like weirdly low damage.

I think maps can potentially be made to complement high yield minerals (or vice-versa), now that the mass spamming of MULEs won't be an issue any longer

Totally agree with you about welcoming small changes rather than mass buffs/ nerfs. Scalpel, not axe.
