My wishlist: -no more extended series, -point decay in pool standing, -last 1 or 2 places in pool play placed somewhere in the Losers Bracket so losing in pool actually mean something, -distributed prize pool for the first 32 places instead of just top 8, even gesture prizes are fine, -more than 5k first place for the non-final MLG tours so open bracket European players actually have an incentive to come,
-Reorganize championship Sunday so open bracket players won't die from exhaustion!

Best part is that that counts barcrafts as 1 viewer.

Also he tweeted somewhere asking the fans if they wanted $500,000 throughout the year and $1million final or $1 million throughout the year and $500,000 final If that's the case, $1,250,000 throughout the year and $250,000 final. Bigger prize pool means lower places get more $ which means more Korean and European talent especially will come for the events. I'd also like to see the return of MLG Atlanta, because that's where I'm from, but that's very unlikely. Raleigh is only a 6 hour drive, and Orlando is only like 9, so it's do-able for me. Well 1250,000 throughout the year spread at 4 events makes the final smaller than the regular season

No extended series, etc would be nice. But the suggestions you gave were huge, and I don't think are going to happen.

A boatload of people play the Sims too, that doesn't make it a good e-sport game though.

Schh, don't tell anyone!
Regardless, hypothetically, if that where the case, point still stands.
Same goes for, say, World of Warcraft.

somehow i think providence was less awesome than orlando, despite the player pool and prize pool.
i think MLGs must be held no closer together than 2 months, or else all the excitement is lost..
that way more planning can be made to each event, stages, seats, open bracket matches can all be made more comfortable and more pleasant experience for everyone

The only thing Orlando had over Providence was the crowd. Columbus, Anaheim, and Orlando had some of the best crowds this season. They cheered at appropriate times and always stayed loud. I would be surprised if MLG doesn't return to those places.

Even if they do remove extended series, if the tournament stays double elimination then the final should always be WB champ needs to win 1xBo3 while LB champ needs to win 2xBo3. Anything else favors the LB champ simply for having lost a series once and still being in the tournament.
Extended series in a short tournament is good, it takes into account the performance balance between two players over 1-2 days. Should we not take into account the fact that Nani had won over DRG 1 hour before finals, had DRG won over Leenock?

As MLG wants to support E-Sports they should pick up the relevant titles first and drop the console games.
- FPS: Quake - Team-FPS: CS 1.6 (or GO if it's accepted) - RTS: SC2 - Dota: Dota2 (not LOL)
Those games have the most respected Communities and the biggest viewerbase (Dota > LOL, comparing watchability as a spectator).
For the tourneys itself: Drop Extended Series Do something so Pool Players aren't seeded automatically and lose their spots (seeding them into Open Bracket in earlier Rounds!)

The following is a bit of what I have gathered from Sundance's various leaks and teases.
-2012 to be divided into 4 seasons where they will host competitions both online and in their studios in Texas (where JP is based) and New York (where most of MLG is based). Each season culminates in a big event weekend comparable to what they ran this weekend in Providence, with a possible 5th event as a Grand Championship type of deal.
-Dramatically increased prize pools.
-40 weeks a year of live content, but not necessarily every game every week in order to prevent oversaturation. Might be SC2/Halo one week and Gears/LoL the next for example.
-The MLG Global Invitational was sort of a beta test for the online component of next year’s system, and points towards seeding at the big live events will be able to be earned online.
-More ways into the pools (and by extension out of them). The online component mentioned, but also the possibility of local feeder tournaments.
Lots of this info came from the vVv podcast interview Sundance did a while back that you can listen to here. Also the MLG FAQ Episode 1 has a bit of good stuff. Twitter and other interviews from events are also good sources of leaks for anyone who really feels like spending a few hours playing Internet Detective.

I really hope MLG becomes the new GSL or even surpasses the GSL. From what Sundance was saying in an interview, it definitely sounds like it may.
"Providence has made other past MLGs look tiny. Hopefully in 2012 we can make Providence look tiny as well."

I'm gonna have to agree here. Maybe not with the Dota part [I don't think there should be any dota whatsoever. It's like a minigame.], but yes with the removing Console games. If anyone has gone to an MLG, they would literally all support the fact that there were immense amount of open chairs in the Halo and Cod sections, while people were standing in the aisles, behind the chairs, even going back to the open bracket computers. SC2 has taken over, and they need to acknowledge that.

Halo is MLG's heart and soul. And with 343i making Halo 4. It has a bright future.
Also, MLG has a wide variety of games, and I don't see them dropping console games any time at all.

They do. Only 1st place in pool play gets into the winners bracket. Rest go into the losers bracket but depending on place between 2-5 you get further up the higher in the group you place.

the only thing dota2 can have up on lol is the pace of the game. Is that the case?
