But, as long as the production value is top notch I think they should be really awesome. I think the games will go alot smoother as well, seeing as there should be less variance in everybody's schedules. Though, I do wonder, who will end up casting all of these events? That's A LOT of things to go for somebody like Tastosis (Although, I imagine Artosis might be sitting out from a few events this year because of his newborn). I wouldn't doubt it if they switched some casters about throughout the tournament. If it's online only, I don't see why they can't just rotate between jp, husky, day9, artosis, tasteless, djwheat and others without a problem like usual. Perhaps no/less tastosis, atleast for the Arena ones.(which doesn't bug me as much seeing how IMO I think all the casters I mentioned, if properly paired together, are just as good.)

The MLG Winter Championship will be like any other MLG... there wil be 16 people in pool play, and an Open Bracket... so effectively it doesn't change anything. All that it does is gives like FIVE tournaments per season, rather than 5 tournaments per year,. It's awesome oo! I love the format. yea but still no rather unknown player outside of the 139 invitees can try to win a pool spot if they didnt have money to travel or something like that last year. So before at least anyone from the beginning of the year had a shot at pool play to accumulate points. Now if you aren't in the 139 now you don't have even a shimmer of hope of making pool play

My two issues with MLG was that there was such a long time between tournaments and that the timezone makes it difficult to watch when living in Europe. They fixed the first one and it sounds incredible!!

Of course, with paid travel offered for players that can get into the pools/championship seeding - I guess you're not too worried about needing the exchange program. If MLG is willing to food the hefty travel costs, and run qualifiers per region... you're guaranteeing a good ratio of seeded/invited Koreans and Europeans to liven up events, while still allowing teams to send others to backdoor in through the open bracket if the teams (or players) are willing to pickup airfare. More events sounds good, too... squeeze in a Montreal event (you'll make buckets of money, if barcrafts are any indication) and maybe a few in other locations, possibly branching out to international events... It sounds like you have all the funding pretty well in place to get things moving. My only request... PLEASE come back to Orlando. I want to go again. ![]()

That doesn't mean they'll be invite only for the rest of the Seasons this year. Stay tuned for those details. Second, to the folks talking about prize money, the announced Prize Money is for the Arena events only, which are a completely NEW event that didn't exist last year in MLG's structure. It does NOT include the Pro-Circuit Championships for each season (which is what you all watched last year at Anaheim, Columbus, Providence, etc). Those details will be announced shortly as well. Edit: Also keep in mind that we're funding travel 32 + 16 = 48 times for players from all over the world. That is NOT a trivial amount of funding. And each player is getting booked a room to themselves for the Winter Season, so if teammates want to stack up in a room, they can do that. I hope that's viewed as the gesture of support to the teams that it's meant to be. Even the more successful teams will not be carrying the weight on their sponsorship budgets for that travel. EG, for example, has two players in the top 8 from Providence (Huk and Idra), so that's quite a bit of support just to them. In addition, if you're an unaffiliated player and qualify in, you don't need to provide that support or get it from someplace else. Edit 2: "stay tuned" and "shortly" are vague deliberately. Sorry folks, but there is a timeline here and it's not just because we're trying to hype the hype. There's reasons for this (and deals, and commitments to partners) which we have to finalize before can share them all. And no, i can't tell you what the reasons are :D Edit 3: (sorry for the wall of text now) The Pro-Circuit events STILL HAVE AN OPEN BRACKET. Anyone can register and play in those. The Online Quali's > Arena are for placement into the Championship Pools at the Pro Circuit Championship. Edit 4: No spectators in the venue because we don't have room. It's a studio shoot. Can't wait for more details... Thanks Lee for clarifying!
