13 different locations (new one for each event) finals will be a double elimination with 16 players (12 winners + 3 from open bracket + leenock) seeded by pool play.

Perhaps there is something there but I haven't heard much from that part of the world. all the pieces are there for a fucking insanely huge market, they are just scattered around. the first person to realize this will become rich as hell. I tried to develop something with esports in india but didnt have enough money to invest into the project, however I know for a fact that whoever sees the potential and uses it well will be successful. the culture happens to be very korean-like as well but thats just a side point. i also happen to be indian ethnicity (born in us) but there is no bias (just business interest hehe); there aren't any good players there but there is lots of interest and inner competition, and young organizations trying to stay alive and get local sponsors. if they were provided with some infrastructure i think it would blow up. right now their fps community is growing rapidly. cant say the same about sc2, there is like one player that is remotely close to being a pro (raziel, wc3/sc2 'pro', was at IEM)

Suggesting dropping console games is so stupid imo. Like sooo many ppl are computer elitist yet fail to realize taht the only way that e sports is going to really take off (yes it's still very small comparatively) is by using the medium through console gamers. Computers in many western countries still have a stigma of nerdyness whereas consoles have broken this stigma, the hands down biggest market of game players are those who are exceptionally casual and are either on things like fb games, phone games, and console games. Trying to grow a playerbase by forcing hardcore gaming reinforced with already prevalent social stigmas is just plain dumb. Computer games, and especially esports, needs console games and the more casual scenes, much more than most people realize because they are the medium most times, between casual gamers and the perceived computer nerds.

For the tourneys itself: Drop Extended Series Do something so Pool Players aren't seeded automatically and lose their spots (seeding them into Open Bracket in earlier Rounds!) why would they want to alienate the console players? Halo has been their flagship game and has gotten them on ESPN (though it obviously didn't stick). Maybe its not AS competitive as those games, but its still an incredible hard game to master and play at that level. Its also pretty entertaining to watch in the few games I've seen. Not sure why they should just drop it completely. Bringing on a quake or something wouldn't be a bad idea, but no need to kick out halo, just because its on a dreaded console. edit: On December 06 2011 05:34 Ace.Xile wrote: Suggesting dropping console games is so stupid imo. The elitist attitude so many people have is really stifling potential growth. The huuuuuuge console market has really not been tapped yet.
