I did think of that, but I'm not sure if seated OHP is really any good. I'll have to look into it a bit more. I haven't really heard of anyone taking seated OHP seriously, but if I'm not training competitively it doesn't seem like it'll be too much of an issue.

Anyway, thanks for all the compliments and suggestions =)

Seated OHP is a great exercise, definitely check it out, both with a barbell and dumbbells. I take it seriously , but I do more of a bb/pl hybrid routine.

Zydrunas Savickas, the best standing overhead presser in the world by far, does most of his presses seated on a bench or from the floor. Can't be that bad .
I have found the Iron to be my greatest friend. It never freaks out on me, never runs. Friends may come and go. But two hundred pounds is always two hundred pounds.

I didn't mean that you couldn't get heavy presses in, but that was actually what I was kind of getting at: You lose a lot of stabilization that comes with standing while pressing. Not that you necessarily can press way bigger amounts, just that standing has obvious benefits compared to being seated. But honestly at the end of the day as long as I'm lifting, the little stuff doesn't really matter, does it?

If you're seated on the floor, or on a bench with no back, it's not so much about losing the need to stabilize - you just lose the glutes as a group of muscles that are capable of stabilizing. Your spinal erectors, abs, lats, traps, and minor shoulder muscles are still going to get a hell of a workout.

There's also things like the sotts press that are situationally useful. If you're just lacking a couple inches of lockout space, which it sounds like you are, think about doing some standing presses with a snatch grip.

Heath's legs aren't as good as Kai Greene's imo.

I'm torn on bodybuilding, especially bodybuilding on that kind of professional level.

On the one hand, I think it looks pretty good, that's what space marines ought to look like without their armor. Manly men. I mean, right? On the other hand, prancing around on stage posing and flexing make them look like vain sissies. The panties don't help.

On the one hand, I'd love for everyone to aspire to look like that, it's a body that exhumes the ideals of self-disciplin and hard work. On the other hand, that's just an insecure man-child who's percieved inadequacies caused him to shove dangerous amounts of steroids into his own ass.

It's tricky.

Kai's legs might be a tad bigger. i can't really tell =/ Problem is he didn't come in as cut up as the other competitors.

Here's a side by side.

MtlGuitarist97 - ohp is one of the best exercises, its in every strength program, you should definitely give it a go
remember you wont need to put massive tall weights on it (you can load multiple smaller 5kg weights) . or try it outside 1 time and realise its not so bad doing it that way

I like seated DB press more than starting barbell OHP. Less hard on your lower back so you can do more volume (as a 6'5 guy lower back strain tends to be a limiting factor). A general question: How much volume is too much? I'm currently doing about 27 sets on a 5 day split (so f.e. 15 sets chest + 12 sets triceps on a day). I don't really feel gassed and still making great gainz so then it's all good right?

Do people outside of bodybuilding actually aspire to look like that? The most common opinion I hear of them is that they look freakish. Don't get me wrong, the amount of work they put in is certainly admirible but I'd much rather have the body of a gymnast than a bodybuilder.

Well, part of that is, I think, that there is a social stigma over being "too swole". And that stigma comes from the steroid stigma. If you get too big you stop being good looking and become a druggie. If it weren't for the fact that we know that you can't get that big without needles I think people would be alot more accepting towards bodybuilders.

People inside of bodybuilding don't want to look like that LOL. I feel like modern bodybuilding since Ronnie Coleman has simply been chemical warfare and genetics. Theres even like a rumor that phil heath has a mild form of that disease you see on super muscular dogs and bulls where myostatin is inhibited.

I am wondering if I am moving too fast in my SS progress. Current numbers are
Squat : 135 > 175
Deadlift 95> 165
Bench 95 > 115
OHP 45 > 65. Still can't finished a solid 5 rep on my last set.
My problem is when I try to go to 180, I can't seems to finish my last set. Should I be deloading the weight by 10%-15%? Been eating a lot better, solid 7-8 sleep and lost few inches on the body but gain inches in other area. Should I deload or go n and beast 180?
Edit: 5 weeks into ss

I'd be pretty insulted if people would just assume my success came from drugs rather than hard work and discipline -_-

I agree with Gotunk. Sure the person making the comment might not know how roids work but basically what they do is allow you to work harder more often.
